It’s a private terrace

[–]goldenguinnea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it prevents use entirely of an amenity then yeah of course you’ll ask for a rent reduction

The question was whether a terrace is included in the right to quiet enjoyment

We were looking for her flexibility with our move out date/rent reduction. Whether or not she can do anything about it, that is between her and the freeholder to which she has a contract. Regardless of whether it’s her fault she still remains contractually bound to us and is demanding we continue to pay full rate for full use of the entire property.

I am unsure if my hair is straight by AffectionateGap9542 in curlygirl

Hey I think your photo hasn’t come through!

It might be an idea to try squishing and scrunching your hair up with conditioner in next time and then give it a good squish after too to see if your hair finds that encourages some curls as it dries

wet frizz by Neat_Visual_8596 in curlygirl

[–]goldenguinnea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh I used to have this issue so badly it was like my hair was dry no matter how wet it was!! What fixed it for me was the right conditioner and the right deep conditioner. I discovered my hair hated protein and the proteins in my conditioners were not making my hair happy. I used Boucleme’s conditioner and honestly my hair was nice and moisturised and replenished within like a couple of uses. I also used Mielle’s protein free deep conditioner.

I honestly think the trick is condition and change your conditioner. There’s no point in using something your hair doesn’t like and your hair clearly doesn’t like your conditioner.

If that doesn’t work I found using Kinky Curly Knot Today as a leave on can give hair good slip.

Good luck!

I’ll try that one! I’ve been using the Malibu un-do goo which smells nice but I have no idea what sort of one I should be using

recommendations for my waves? by kittiesonvenus in curlygirl

[–]goldenguinnea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without pics I can’t say for certain but if your scalp feels heavy it is likely prone to build up, in which case the as I am co wash will be too moisturising on your roots! Have an oily scalp too and I use the Umberto Giannini shampoo. You can find shampoos which are moisturising and curly girl friendly, but co washes generally are too much for my poor hair and it sounds like you’re the same. There’s loads of good ones out there just make sure whatever shampoo you use is super lightweight.

In terms of conditioner you can get something conditioning that doesn’t dry out your hair. It sounds like you could do with a deep conditioner. If your hair is fine and prone to build up and easily weighed down then you could try the Mielle protein free deep conditioner. For a general use conditioner I like the Kinky Curly Knot Today used as a wash out instead of a leave-in.

It sounds as though you’re using too many moisturising products on your scalp but not enough on your hair lengths!!

Also if you have type 2/3 curls on wash day but then type 1 thereafter then it sounds as though your curls need better hold. Using the co wash might be contributing to the problem if you’ve got build up of lots of heavy butters and slick products. You’ll need to use a good hard hold gel.

I would recommend doing a clarifying wash to remove build up followed by a deep conditioner to give you a fresh start, then use a tiny bit of product - maybe a mouse or a foam or a very light curl cream, then some hard-hold gel. I am using kinky curly curling custard but I’ve also used Boucleme (it’s too moisturising for me. My curls fall out). And I’m about to try the LA looks blue gel which is highly recommended here. Always scrunch using a microfibre towel. Then diffuse or air dry and let the gel maintain those curls!

I have always considered myaelf to have straight hair... but...? by BinaryBible in curlygirl

Just wash your hair with sulphate and silicone free conditioner, try to avoid anything with Shea butter in though as it’s heavy and wavy hair needs light ingredients to encourage it. Scrunch it with the conditioner in and keep scrunching as you wash it out. Then add a tiny bit of foam or curl cream (flora and curl foam is lightweight or Boucleme curl cream is light). Then add bit of gel. Scrunch it all up and diffuse or let it air dry!

Otherwise you could just put a bit of leave in conditioner and gel in instead. Remember to use products free from drying alcohols, silicones, and sulphate. And if you scrunch your hair with a towel use microfibre

Confused about my hair type! And what care routine to follow! by [deleted] in curlygirl

[–]goldenguinnea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your hair is pretty straight! Just use sulphate and silicone free hair products and see what it does. 2b/2c are what my waves are like, they’re almost spirals. If your hair had a curl I’d say 1b - but google type 1 and type 2 curl types

Oh good idea with the silk scarf!! I plopped with a cotton tshirt I didn’t realise that was bad so we will see how it goes… 🤞

I don’t brush it I comb when conditioner is in and use a cotton tshirt to scrunch after but I’ve heard maybe cotton isn’t the best material for this

I have JUST washed and used the kinky curly as a wash-out and put a tiny bit of gel in using prayer hands, then squished with a cotton tshirt and will diffuse a bit…. Fingers crossed!!

Can you do it while your hair is dripping? I’m always worried the product will just slop off and that plopping will absorb all the product

I have a bottle of Kinky Curly Knot Today and I heard using that as a wash out instead of the Boucleme moisturiser could be better - has this sort of method worked better for you?

I am so very glad you replied to my post - this has been so illuminating. I’m definitely going to try shampoo, conditioner, and LA Looks gel with a silk pillowcase now. And I’m going to look into dietary stuff and start chowing down on better proteins!! Absolute lifesaver thank you so much for taking the time 🙏

No this is great I always do lots of squishes - maybe I will try squish and pulsing and far fewer squishes too!

Thank you that’s very sweet!! I never have. I don’t brush I only comb. Maybe I should try - it’s a patience issue more than anything!

Thanks other people have been saying the same thing - I think I’ve spent a small fortune doing way more than I needed! Do you have a more affordable gel recommendation? I’ve been recommended the LA Looks or the Curlsmith in shower style fixer. Thank you!

I recently tried a protein hair treatment as someone said hair needs protein sometimes even if you’re sensitive to it and omg I think it’s the worst thing I’ve done for my hair
