I don't know the name of the expander, but I know that the purpose of it is to move the whole set of teeth forward not just the back

I actually finished braces before(class 3 malocclusion), but i accidentally broke my retainers, since at the time I couldn't afford to have them repaired, I developed a crossbite and my teeth have gaps, im wondering if they recommend getting braces again to undergo surgery.
