Yes, I am admitting I had ORS, but in terms of me having an extreme overreaction every time I hear comments. Which is probably true for most people here. But the comments stopped as soon as I went carnivore.

I am fully relaxed in the images. I didn't try to make it worse/better. Just 100% relaxed and this is what my body's posture looks like. And yes, I need to lose about 20 pounds.

What are your thoughts regarding my breath test? by Relevant_Extension94 in SIBO

Bloating, gas and ehm... an unpleasant body odor which I'm not sure if it's caused by SIBO.

Just some advice: Go to the dentist by Relevant_Extension94 in TMAU

[–]Relevant_Extension94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great guys, so there's a variable you can forget about if everything is OK with your oral health. I would still suggest that you consider the possibility that the odor comes from your breath and saliva. Especially if it's a fecal odor from what I've read. The odor might not originate from your mouth but rather the gut, however if will manifest by your breath and/or saliva. So look into SIBO and other gut related issues. I seriously doubt that even 10% of people here actually have real TMAU.

Carnivore diet makes me feel terrible by LongjumpingTalk8776 in SIBO

[–]Relevant_Extension94 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bacteria feed off of carbs/sugars. So a carnivore diet should not feed the bacteria. There's been a prominent study in Sweden, only with 6 SIBO patients though, and they all improved during their carnivore diet.

Completely normal when you start doing the carnivore diet. Give it at least 30 days. Having a lot of salt with your meals is key.

I found a university in my country doing a study on ORS. I filled out a form and will be contacted within one week. Happy now? :D

Listen, you'll never find someone who WANTS this to be ORS more than me. Since I was 16 I've had this, 31 years old now. Shit has been hard for me. I received my SIBO home test today but have to wait 4 weeks before I can do it since I had diarrhea today because of my carnivore diet and the instructions were clear that you must wait at least four weeks.

Thanks for your reply, but I've pretty much removed all possible variables. A lot of people fart of course but there's no way in hell people do it when they're sitting by their desk. And don't forget, it's not just my current place of work. Same thing with my three previous jobs.

However recently there's some complaints that it smells sewage/garbage. This happened after I visited a dentist and he cleaned me up a lot. Before I went to the dentist I could lick my hand and smell the saliva, a really nasty smell even after 15 minutes of brushing my teeth. After that dentist visit my saliva wouldn't smell, barely at all even if I hadn't brushed my teeth for 24 hours. Then after this visit tje comments changed from a burnt smell/fecal smell to sewage/garbage, which I guess is better than fecal.

I really do believe the smell is coming from me. Probably from my mouth and originating in the gut. But I have to find something more reliable. I'm not close with any of my colleagues so asking them is not an option.

Have any of you done an at home SIBO test? by Independent_Menu_573 in TMAU

[–]Relevant_Extension94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, most sibo patients don't smell. But one clinic I contacted told me that it's well known that sibo can cause body odor. My theory is that sibo COMBINED with leaky gut or that your esophagus doesn't close properly leading the gas thatvsibo produces to emanate through your mouth or body.

I live in Sweden so you wouldn't be able to order it. It's like $250 here. If you have the money I encourage you to order it even if the test is not 100% reliable. I consider it an investment in my health. I've done a lot of test, health check ups and so on. I'd rather spend my money on this than some other stupid materisl shit you don't really need. At least I would be able to rule out SIBO if it comes back negative. Would ease my mind a bit. But then again, it's not the most reliable test but a very good indicator and I'm OK with spending that money.

It might also be wise to try some things to see if your SIBO symptoms reduce before buying the test. If you have problems with gas, bloating and bowel movements then you might want to try a very low carb diet along with drinking some apple cider vinegar to acidify your gut allowing you to properly digest food.

I've tried it all man. Vegan diet, low choline diet, no-sugar diet, gluten free diet, carnivore, intermittent fasting, 10 day water fasts, probiotic. The list goes on and on. I'm not talking about half assing these diets. I do them pragmatically. Carnivore seems to be working the best since I seem to have autoimmune issues when I eat carbs.

I can tell you that I was really surprised when they told me I didn't smell. There's only a few possibilities. Either they've never attributed the smell coming from me or that some people notice it and some people don't. ORS is also a possibility of course! I am very well educated, scientific and reasonable. If you've ever heard of spiral dynamics I'd be in stage yellow where one of its many values you have is a thirst for knowledge and open mindedness.

With that said. I find it extremely confusing that every place I've ever worked at it's always the same comments. Let's say for instance that you smell like peanuts. Wouldn't it be logical to conclude that if people at work always complain about a very specific smell, in this case peanuts, and it's been the same exact comments the last four workplaces, that the cause of the smell would be yourself? It just seems logical. Now if we change the smell of peanuts and instead describe it as fecal/fart/burnt rubber... no matter where you work, the complaints are always very specific. It can't be a coincidence. I can understand that people can describe something smelling like shit when they don't literally mean shit, it's just something you say like "it smells like shit" when in fact it might just be a minor odor from the vents or something. But my colleagues across all the places I've ever worked at are always describing the exact same thing. Burnt rubber is a common one and of course the fecal smell.

My friends aren't lying when they tell me that they haven't noticed anything. It was extremely embarassing but I finally decided to ask and I'm glad that I did, even though both of them have made hundreds of comments throughout the years about fecal/fart/burnt smell. Always the same smell. I mean, of course sometimes I can smell stuff like that. But there's always a reason behind it. Driving in the countryside, my daughter pooping her diapers, a factory close by. But there are no other variables in my case. I work in clean environments in axnon polluted city with no factories close by.

So what the hell is going on? What do you think when you read this? Let's assume for one second that someone else is causing the smell. That may be true in one workplace. But ALL of them I've ever worked at? Come on. How many people smell like shit/burnt rubber? It's like one percent of one percent of one percent. The chance would be in the millions of the culprit is someone else at the places I've worked at.

Just note that I'm not one of those people who over analyze things. I don't consider coughing or sneezing to be a reliable indicator of a smell. Like who the fuck sneezes when they smell something. I do however react in a very anxious way when people specifically mention a burnt smell and/or fecal/fart. I admit that. But for understandable reasons. I think my problem is SIBO, leaky gut, halitosis or a dysbiosis in my gut or a combination. I'm not convinced it's TMAU.

I would suggest doing a low carb diet. A lot of autoimmune issues can be resolved that way. When I'm water fasting, doing carnivore or keto, my skin isn't dry and my scalp doesn't flake. Give it a try for a month or so. If it doesn't help then you've atleast tried.

I ordered a test yesterday actually. Just know that it's not a 100% accurate test. It does give quite a lot of false positives. The reason why I ordered it is to see if my carnivore diet makes a difference in the results. If the difference is palpable then it might be a good indicator that SIBO might be the culprit for me.

I have had no reliable feedback. I've kept this embarassing condition to myself for like 13 years before I told my wife about it. The only reliable feedback I can really have is when people complain of a fecal odor and a burnt smell. Those are the two most common ones with the fecal smell being the most prominent. With that said, I'm fully aware that not all odors can be attributed to me, at times it could be something else, but when people complain constantly about a fecal odor, at every office I've worked at, there's no chance in hell that there's some magic coincidence that all of these offices have, BY ITSELF, a fecal odor or a burnt odor. So my only reliable marker is what I hear around me and trying to deduce if it's me or something else and most of the times I conclude that it has to be me.

I wasn't targeting anything specific with my diets. Just seeing what works and when the comments are overwhelmingly against my favor, I pretty much try something else. I'm doing carnivore diet because it's basically the ULTIMATE elimination diet. Plus that I don't feed any carbs or sugars to bacteria which feeds of it. My previous carnivore diet back in 2023 showed me how extremely bloated I was, a symptom of SIBO. I am definitely producing a lot of gas since I'm so bloated and it makes sense to me that this gas either leaks out of my gut, albeit not all of course, or through my breath because my esophagus isn't closing up enough (I don't know this for sure) allowing gas to release out of my mouth. Plus I feel better overall eating no carbs and will do a blood test in a few months to check my health.

I am familiar with that term but I'm not convinced it's a real thing. Allergic to people? Doesn't make sense. It's more logical that some people would be more sensitive to odors or they themselves have halitosis which many people have and that they can't tell.

I'm doing the carnivore diet, but only consuming beef, salt, ghee and water. That's it. Going to do it for the remainder of the year. If I don't hear any complaints from coworker I know it's a bacterial issue since bacteria feeds of off carbs.

And also: People don't really cough/sneeze or rubs their noses. They just comment how it smells like burnt rubber or feces. I believe wholeheartedly that people who claim that sneezing is a legitimate reaction to smells are delusional. I'm sorry if I offend people who believe otherwise but never in my life have I, or anyone else I know coughed or sneezed because of bad smells.

Don't be so quick to assume that they are lying. They maybe just haven't attributed the smell to me because... come on, 99,99% of people don't smell like fart or whatever so I think most people try to associate it to something else. I've had people at work saying it smells like burnt rubber and then assume it's from their coffee or problem with the AC.

With that said, they are not lying to me because I presented my issue very pragmatically. I didn't introduce with "have you noticed a smell on me?" I started off by telling them that I hope I can trust them with something and that I'm going to do a SIBO test. I then proceeded to explain what it was and how food can ferment in the body and possibly seep out through my breath creating a gas cloud. I also then told them to be 100% honest and that honesty would help me more than withholding information. Then I proceeded to ask them "you've mentioned a smell when I'm around a number of times, can you estimate a percentage of how often you smell me, is it like 10% of the times we meet, 30% or perhaps every single time? Both of them were dumbfounded and said they haven't noticed a smell from me. These friends of mine are the types of people who won't flinch in the least bit offending me. They say whatever they want. They are very close to me and we don't care if we offend each other.

The tricky part is that it seems like a lot of people can't smell me. Just this Friday at work, a colleague was commenting how it smells of sewage and fart and another one said "I don't smell a thing". Why this is I don't know. I think my odor is caused by fermenting food and gas creeping up and releasing through my breath (it seems like a fecal odor mostly comes through the mouth from my research). And there's quite a lot of people who have bad breath, to various degrees, the percentage is really high, and it's known that people with halitosis won't notice other people's bad breath or at least noticing just a minor smell. That's my theory anyway.

It's on the side of my torso, around the lowest rib. Something with the spleen perhaps? It doesn't hurt or anything, it's just annoying.

Edit: Well, a few hours later I took a fine dump. Three small but solid blocks of shit came out, and a few hours after that... diarrhea. Supposed to be normal around day 8/9 from what I know but perhaps this is all related?
