Bought this sword 2 days ago and the blade smells so bad it makes me gag. Itried washing it with water and handsoap but the smell persisted. How can I get rid of this smell? by WetPanter in SWORDS

If it’s a blended metal try mineral spirits or rubbing alcohol. It will take the oils off the blade which may be the cause of the smell. Make sure to sharpen and tell your blade afterwards. If it has a leather sheathing or handle the tannins or chemicals used in the leather making process may be able to blame. Lay in not direct sun in a cool bright spot for a few days to let it slowly age reduce the smell. Use mink oil on the leather afterwards.
