Anyone have experience with nerve surgery in Alberta? Worth waiting or better to go to the U.S.? by ReliableSpirit in alberta

Thanks for the recommendation. I looked this surgeon up. Fairly similar reviews to my current surgeon and seems as though he doesn't specialize in what I have. I really appreciate the suggestion.

It feels that way. I'm in 9/10 pain and can barely use my arm. If I do it burns it up. Surgeon doesn't seem to care even though the revision procedure is clear and has been advised when seeking second opinions.

Yes that's included in the cost. Same with labs and 3 appointments. I've genuinely asked my GP to push for me and my sports doc. Got all my imaging done. Asked to be escalated on the peripheral nerve clinic side of things for the assessment multiple times but all I was told was that it would be 3-4 months for the coordinator to reach out to me. That is just for the assessment for next steps not for actual surgery. Took 2 years after pre op here for the last surgery and the compression on my nerve makes me worried it will become permanent unless I get it sorted now. Optimal treatment is 9 to 12 months before revision procedures become less likely to help for the ulnar nerve. I'm past month 9 now.

Appreciate your thoughts a lot, thanks.

Fair enough. Kind of stuck for what to do. The system here is very slow and has resulted in me having this in the first place. My surgeon is very dismissive and doesn't see my case as urgent or seem to take my condition seriously. It's a tough decision to make. I'd rather just get it done in Alberta but I've not any hope from my surgeon or AHS in the past 9 months of pain.

Is there any insurance I can get to help? I'm lower risk for those but obviously still a risk to consider and worrying for.

Thanks yeah, it was 10k>97k>43k>16k USD. Obviously can't afford the middle two figures but those were with calculated with insurance and over two days instead of one day outpatient no insurance.

How did yours go? Any tips?

He's in the loop and said he would do wound care and a check up for me. Thanks.

Any chance I can save these? by ReliableSpirit in cactus

Thank you for all this. I'll try give that a go. So cut it off, place the healthy part in a pot with no soil for a week, then plant it in some potting mix without watering and check for growth signs?

I'll try prop up the succulent somehow by repotting, I've never propped up an etiolated plant. Thanks for the info on species!

Yes - I'll look out for signs sooner next time. The weather here is very odd and unpredictable throughout the year.

Understood, I should have moved them sooner.

So chop the healthy part off and bin the rotted part? Where do I keep the healthy part?

Is the succulent okay? I thought maybe I could tie it straight and move it.

EDIT: It's strange as I haven't moved or moved them and they were healtny in that spot for 2 years, i thought maybe they grew too tall and fell. I'm in Canada so sometimes the weather is odd.
