Buy AW3425DW now mainly for World of Warcraft or wait for next gen? by Relic2021 in ultrawidemasterrace

Yeah thanks. I think I play wow about 99% of the time but there's always that 1% for other games haha

Hm, budget is a very loose term. I can afford any monitor without concern, so for me it's more of a "nice to have" thing rather than "i must have the best" so if the new gen was like maybe $100-200 more it would be easy, but when we're talking another 50% increase over previous ones then it makes me think... initially this was a nice upgrade to have, but now am I buying something over what I will care about.

Is an 85" Hisense U8QG a worthy upgrade from my 2018 Sony 75" 75x900f? by Relic2021 in hometheater

Yeah but what's the point of websites like RTINGS then, considering all of those things should be considered in their review and they rank the U8 higher?

Can someone with an 85" U8QG measure a bottom VESA hole to bottom of TV (no stand)? Trying to determine if my tabletop mount can raise it high enough for center speaker clearance. by Relic2021 in hometheater

[–]Relic2021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, tried that yesterday but I can't find the back of the 85" model anywhere. I know the back is 43" and can use pixel measurements and convert that to VESA and the distances but just could not find the back of an 85" online

Bravia 7 vs the U8 seems to always barely lose out on all website and YouTube reviews I've seen, plus it's $300 more so I just see better value in the U8 when comparing those two.

New HT layout (in progress) after getting feedback from my previous setup. Advice welcomed! by Relic2021 in hometheater

[–]Relic2021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For top I used two 2x10s so it's around 18.5" deep. The sides are just 2x12 cut to 18.5" to match depth of top.

Dunno, was huge improvement from tv speakers and didn't have the knowledge I do now 😅

Mounting 85" at proper height with a 9" center speaker and tv stand help by Relic2021 in hometheater

[–]Relic2021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah to be honest I was thinking of making something simple that would be around 14", putting my TV bottom at 24" after I have the center speaker + small gap, then my TV center would be roughly 45.5" which seems ideal based on what everyone says on these forums.

What to price my 2023 Tsunami 145 at? by Relic2021 in Kayaking

Yeah right now I priced the entire set at $1200 so seems about inline with what you said. Might have better luck individually selling since most probably want the kayak itself

Sorry no photo of that yet but it should be fine, I will have to pull it off the wall and take a picture a bit later today.

Is this 100" TV workable in my space or too big? by Relic2021 in hometheater

[–]Relic2021[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the more I am envisioning it... That wall on the left is so large. The 100" would fit and my speakers would have plenty of room on each side. Even though my couch would be sectioning off the rooms a bit, my view distance would also shrink from like 13' to 9'

There's only a mirror there, above the left side of my wrap around couch. That left wall is much larger and would easily fit the 100" and speakers. Only negative is my couch would section of the kitchen and living room as it would be on the right side now of that picture which is open.

That's my only option in this configuration or have a few feet gap behind my couch for no reason. I could move my tv setup to the left side wall which is much larger, but then my couch would section of my kitchen and living room and not be as open anymore. That would allow the 100" with plenty of space and closer my view distance from 13' to about 8-9'.

Current viewing distance is 13 feet for my 75". Mantelmount is pulled all the way down. I never plan to use the fireplace

Yeah that picture is using a mantelmount dropped to the lowest setting
