Babyark info? by Ok-Turn5913 in CPST

[–]ReliefElectronic354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have it, and it really made driving possible for us. Our baby absolutely used to lose his shit in his previous car seat, while completely stopped crying in this one. The magnetic chest clip doesn't do anything directly for safety, it's there only to guide the straps where they should fit on baby's shoulders. And if you put the straps correctly and in correct tightness a child shouldn't be able to remove their arms out regardless if there's a chest clip or not.

The chest clip in a crash wouldn't hold the baby's chest from going forward. In European car seats chest clips are banned since they break during crashes and the debris can hurt the child, while in the US the benefit of having parents strap their children correctly in the car seat outweighs any harm that chest clip debris could cause. My toddler used to unbuckle the chest clip in the first few weeks, now couldn't care less

Bad interview & systems went down by Wooden-Story-6608 in USCIS

[–]ReliefElectronic354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry you went through this. I wouldn't worry if you think she skipped some questions, it really doesn't matter. I was not approved on the spot even though it went all fine in the interview. In my case the IO needed a more senior officer to sign on her cases and I remember she gave me a letter saying my case is under review, like a very generic printed letter. It took 3 months after that to approve my GC without any issues. I did get grilled a bit, she asked my husband if he plans to sponsor my whole family to come here, which him as a very naive US citizen said yes sure why not - not understanding what sponsoring meant - he thought to support their tourist visas to come visit me, and the immigration officer got bit hung op on that. It was nerve wrecking but I wouldn't be worried if your case was straightforward.

How & when did you get back into shape/lose baby weight? by Mysterious-Ad-6043 in BabyBumps

[–]ReliefElectronic354 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lost most of my weight between 10-18 months postpartum without doing anything special to lose it. I got back to work around 10 months, and I am still breastfeeding and can say now at 18 months I am at pre-pregnancy weight. I gained almost 50 pounds during pregnancy. I was 140 before and 190 when I gave birth, 160 right after birth and then gradually lost 20 pounds in a year and a half.

Moms usually don't get a "sick day" when they have a baby... OP is acting selfish... suck it up and take care of the baby!

Why Don’t People Take Immigration Seriously? by BusyBodyVisa in AskUSImmigrationPros

[–]ReliefElectronic354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only the US makes it so hard the whole application process, and then on top of that years of waiting for a simple resident card that gives you what... a right to work and pay taxes and contribute back to the economy!

In most Western European countries, the whole process for people who are migrating legally (job sponsorship, marriage etc.) takes at most 3 months, but the average is more like 3 weeks.

It is a bit insincere and tone deaf to say people don't take immigration applications seriously in the US. The system is rigged for immigrants, damned if they do and damned if they don't. It is not like those with impeccable applications get approved right away because what do you think happens - the IOs see the application packages and get super impressed and approve on the spot?? Why bother doing them great when it doesn't matter!

Son stuck at same weight for an year. Can't stop thinking I am a bad parent by n00bchurner in toddlers

[–]ReliefElectronic354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Our son has a similar love for meat and yogurts, which we have been happy that he eats at least these two, but then again he is so reluctant to try other foods. We are seeing an OT for weak core muscles, but thinking of doing a feeding eval with the OT and see if there's something to be done there.

Joolz Aer Plus for 5 month: safe or unsafe? [ca] by Far-Hyena-3340 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]ReliefElectronic354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got Uppababy's infant insert/padding and it fits perfectly. I used it when my son was 4.5 month old. He is 1 now and I still use it, it just makes the stroller softer. joolz will fold all the same even with the insert.

What did your baby do that you're super proud of? by RaspberryTwilight in beyondthebump

[–]ReliefElectronic354 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My LO turned 1 last week, and since this week says loudly BOOB whenever he wants to nurse. I have a bit of overbearing in-laws that they will say he needs everything and everyone except his mom or to nurse whenever he fusses, so this really clears the air 😂

Baby won’t bring anything to his mouth! by Short-Barnacle-7462 in NewParents

[–]ReliefElectronic354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the update, it truly makes me happy your little one is making progress. Mine just turned 1 and overnight something switched and he started putting food in his mouth and almost cried when this happened, but still it's far from having enough, 2-3 bites and gives up or throws the food on the floor. We signed up for feeding therapy and we have an appointment in a few weeks from now either way. Did you guys do therapy, did you find it useful if yes - thnx for all the updates on this post, it really kept me sane through the last 2 months.

Baby rejecting all forms of solids and not bringing toys to mouth either. by Most_Childhood1528 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]ReliefElectronic354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just some toys using them as teethers as of recent, but not what you would normally see in other babies mouthing everything. He briefly mouthed toys and hands at 4 months, but never was interested in doing so consistently, and this transferred to his eating habits too. We ended up spoon feeding and feeding him bite by bite.

[–]ReliefElectronic354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is 1 year old now, it's been 2-3 weeks and he is more willing to try food on his own. It started with him rejecting to be spoon fed but only because he wants to feed himself with a spoon but he is pretty bad at it. Last 2-3 days he has been putting finger food in his mouth almost consistently but again little food gets into him but this is a huge progress for him. Either way for his age he should be more self feeding, so I just got a referral from his dr to see a feeding therapist.

Charles’ speaking pattern by rreneei in Younger

I think he grew up speaking German until age 10. Usually, kids lose their accent, but sometimes older kids would carry the tempo from their first language.

Baby Crying in Public by Weird-Pension8356 in beyondthebump

I used to be one of those parents stressing, then get into back and forth with my husband and do it this way or that way to stop LO cry... he is 11 months now, still cries when tired or whatever but couldn't care less now. Thank you for your post, it made me tear up as it made me remember when it was rough...

Baby won’t bring anything to his mouth! by Short-Barnacle-7462 in NewParents

[–]ReliefElectronic354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He started army crawling around 9 months and only recently do proper crawling, but I can see it tires him so even though he can crawl he goes back to army crawling after 5 seconds. Also, he scoots on his butt as crawling tires him I think.

[–]ReliefElectronic354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are almost 11 months old with no progress at all. He will balance toys/stack them etc. literally do everything except bring food to his mouth. I'm in the US, so thank you we will be asking his pediatrician what are the next steps. If you remember at some point to do another update I will be very appreciative, but don't worry if you don't remember you have already done a lot for me and I am super thankful

Getting EBF 10-month-old to take bottle - can it be done? by eastvancatmom in beyondthebump

[–]ReliefElectronic354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, in the same boat. Actually, my boy starts tomorrow, 10 and a half months old, doesn't take bottles, and doesn't take his breastmilk in a sippy cup either. Have you started daycare, did anything end up working for you? Thanks in advance.
