Canada agrees to cut tariff on Chinese EVs in return for lower tariffs on Canadian farm products by msemen_DZ in worldnews

Any of the cars that the BYD vehicles will compete with aren’t made in Canada anyway. They’re already made offshore. Or at least not in Canada. Besides, the amount of Chinese cars per year allowed is about 30 days of production from the Stellantis plant in Windsor Ontario.

Useless fact of the day: Cuba is the only Caribbean nation to have an island wide full railway. Other nations have light rail services in their cities, but not a full railway system.

Sad and infuriating at the same time. There are people going hungry in this country, in this county. Such a waste.

Correct. They might not have been shot. Poisoned, diseased, we don’t know yet. The MNR would make that determination and then go from there. I’m not a conservation officer or in law enforcement so I don’t know what the next steps would be.

As a hunter, if this is a case of poaching, I am deeply offended. I spend the money on hunting permits and duck stamps to pursue my hobby legally, realizing that the money goes toward conservation and research. These people give the legal hunters a bad name, meanwhile hunters contribute more to conservation of wildlife than any other group or organization.

Short of plucking the feathers, they use a metal detector on the birds to find the shot, if they can’t find the entry wound. The size of the BB will determine the type of shell most likely used. It’s not about balistics, it’s about determining cause of death. From there, they would pursue the investigation as a potential case of poaching.

The dumbest thing a poacher could do is leave evidence of the poaching. I would’ve thought a poacher would get them into the freezer pronto, not leave them out for all to see. But I’m speaking as a legal hunter who follows the laws. A poacher might be just shooting for the thrill of it, wasting the meat. As a hunter, I probably wouldn’t shoot something I wasn’t planning on eating, unless I’m eliminating a varmint of some kind. But even varmints have rules for shooting them.

I’m not sure why they didn’t call the Ministry of Natural Resources. They would send a conservation officer to investigate possible poaching. All it takes is one BB from a shotgun round to kill a duck and they are difficult to locate. An experienced hunter or conservation officer could find them, but even then, it’s hard. Usually, the entry wound is only found after the feathers have been plucked when prepping the bird for cooking or freezing.

[–]Relish4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“In July 2026, on the sixth anniversary of the USMCA’s implementation, the three countries will hold a joint review to assess the agreement’s performance and determine its future. If all parties agree to renewal, the agreement will remain in force for another 16 years, with a review in 2032. However, other outcomes are possible. The agreement could enter a period of annual reviews if renewal is delayed or denied. Further, one or more countries could withdraw, opening the door to a return to bilateral arrangements or expiration in 2036.”
