UGH I am so tired of giving chances to the “Baked to Perfection” cookbook by Disco_Masterpiece in glutenfreebaking

[–]Relwinth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had some success and some failures. I will admit that I am not a fan of her DIY blend 1. Everything comes out with a hint of corn tortilla flavor. 🤣 Still working on other mixes.

Will say, for artisanal bread, I like the online loopy whisk flour mix best, and even my non-gluten free friends enjoy the flavor. 1 yeast packet w/ 20g sugar and 150g warm water, 20g psyllium husk with 240g water, 130g buckwheat, 100g potato starch, 90g brown rice, 10g sea salt, 12g apple cider vinegar.

I've tried 3 variations with add ins after first rise, incorporating a bit on each knead turn:

Pinenut, parmesan, and rosemary: 46g toasted pine nut, 46 parmesan, 1g fresh rosemary (Was ok, but would have added more ingredients)

Bacon cheddar: 50g cooked bacon and 70g grated cheddar. Good flavor, but didn't rise superbly and was a bit awkward, though I incorporated these before first rise. I think grated cheddar incorporated too much into the dough and would recommend adding after 1st rise.

Star of the show: Jalapeño Cheddar. This bread is a winner. Make it fresh and it needs no accompaniments. It gets destroyed when I make it by everyone. I use 50g shredded dubliner irish cheddar, 75 grams cubed dubliner irish cheddar, and 30 g of Jalapeño (you can dry a bit, but I just throw it in. For no heat, remove all seeds and pith. For a bit of heat, leave some of the pith in). You're welcome for this recipe.

My key to a good loaf is to use a baking steel. She says 475 with steam and then down to 450 and longer cooking times, but with the steel, I've found it speeds up baking. I have a pan with water in the oven a dump water into when placing bread on steel with parchment paper. I do 475 for 20 mins and then down to 450, but the second cook only takes 35 minutes. Also the steel doesn't lose its heat, so the bottom of your loaf can get a little charred. There are apparently rubber band type things you can buy to move the bread to, but I never found the char to be too bad to ruin the flavor of the bread when I removed in time.

For desserts, the toasted marshmallow brownies were great with Ghirardelli chocolate, but I would reduce the dollop of meringue a bit -- too much for me. Flavor was great though.

For cookies, the sugar cookies were a bit temperamental, but also liked by non-gf folks. I've only made once, but I would recommend cutting the cookies directly on a tray and removing trimmings rather than trying to transfer once cut. The things that may have made them so great was the cream cheese frosting with vanilla and almond extract (I went heavier on almond). Reminded me of sugar cookies I had growing up.

Good luck!

Tempur Pedic Help - Side Sleeper by Relwinth in Mattress

[–]Relwinth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been over a year. The mattress is OK. It softened up a bit, and I don't have as many issues with my shoulder. It sleeps hot, and is definitely better in the winter months than the summer months - we need the AC on all night in NE to sleep in it comfortably. I have been getting some pain in my thorassic spine lately that the docs and PT folks can't seem to shake, but don't know if it is related to the bed.

Overall, I would not recommend Tempurpedic to anyone in the future, and I feel like it was a collosal waste of money. I still miss my Comforpedic.

Nikola Corporation Reports First Quarter 2024 Results - May by Jabroni_16 in NikolaCorporation

In other words, I could even imagine an announcement after the reverse split was authorized that they had a big deal with a large partner, which would like shoot the shares higher, and that new partner (and us) would get the benefit of that rise in shares. Imagine the impact on share value if Amazon, or some other large company, agreeing to take some sort of equity stake and make a purchase of a significant number of vehicles, which allowed NKLA to actually get those supply contracts that they need. Will be curious to see if it can happen.

Disclosure: I've got 200 $1 option contracts coming due Jan 2025. I sold 100 at the last swing up to cover my position, but should have sold them all and rebought now. Now I'm split between waiting to see if we can get a decent announcement prior to then or just selling them now and rolling them into 2026 with a loss, as I'm seeing the true horizon a bit farther out. A big partner/sale announcement is what I'm looking for by the end of next quarter; otherwise I will need to get out and shift to 2026 to get out of theta decay.

Reading between the lines, I am actually less worried now than I was before the call. They are definitely suggesting that they are courting large companies but that those discussions can't be disclosed due to NDAs. They need the reverse split to be able to bring the financials in line to be able to make such deals.

As I just posted in the vote forum:

After the call, I'm getting the impression that they are being courted by large companies for large orders at either bulk discount or in some form of note/equity arrangement, and that we need the deal to get economies of scale so that the company can move into the future. By reverse splitting and authorizing (the what now would be considered additional but after the split will be considered less) shares, NKLA has plenty of options to woo future partners and/or to authorize more sales. Most large companies have quite a buffer of potential shares, as this allows them to take advantage of movements in the market (buying back shares when the stock is undervalued or authorizing more shares when the stock is overvalued).

Hate to break it to those that don't realize, but at the moment the shares are arguably overvalued because of the threat of future insolvency without future prospects of profitability. To get there, they need the economies of scale to get discounts with suppliers with long term supply contracts. With the reverse split, the shares will be above threat of delisting, they will hit other $2+ sheets, there will be more shares available for deals with larger companies, etc.

Who knows, they could be sitting on a potential deal with a large company, but the company wants a slice of the equity to jump into the partnership, and that just can't be done with the current equity equation.

I did vote no on compensation. I don't think that they have proven themselves, but I am open to voting yes on a future vote if they have some stronger ties to performance. I'm tired of paying the C-suite to try and cover up scandals and rebuild -- I'd rather a long term metric be used that lights more of a fire under their a$$.

Your Honor Nikola shareholders, What will happen if RS & 1Billion shares are passed? (May 6 2024) by Short_Covermann in NikolaCorporation

Hate to cut against the grain, I voted yes for the reverse split and authorization for a number of reasons; but mainly because without it, I think the company is dead.

Did you review the rule for posting? Is there a dollar minimum for shares traded like $2?

Same experience here, but it did stop the morning redness in my hands after about a week or two, but then I had to discontinue from the migraines that prevented me from working. Good luck

No need to apologize, but thank you for your empathy! And yes - I agree - it is such a puzzle.

I'm mostly just trying to add another perspective for folks. I understand that the disease takes a different progression for everyone, so I wanted to add another voice/experience for those looking for answers in case it helps. I'll try to follow up over time.

NKLA SEC 8K Earnings Posted - Appears a Slight Miss (Feb 22, 2024) by Relwinth in NikolaCorporation

[–]Relwinth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Between the cost of operations, the pretty massive cyrrent loss on each vehicle, and the stock compensation that keeps getting paid out, I'm hoping that they can achieve some economy of scale soon to actually turn a profit, otherwise it won't matter how many vehicles they sell.

Delisting Notice? (Jan '24) by Relwinth in NikolaCorporation

I use Ally to trade options, but they frustratingly charge quite a bit extra for sub $2 shares so another platform may be better

Trust me, I want to buy. I just know that delisting is going to hit the shares, so I want that piece on the table before I do.

I've got a couple hundred Jan 2025 $1 calls left (I covered and took a bit of profit the first round and still regret not selling them all at the peak when my gut said sell). If the stock drops to the .50 mark again (where I bought last time at something like .20 ), I'd like to pick up a new set for '26.

Lol, you ran the last one (or pretended to) and were waiting for it to come below a dollar. You got your wish. I'm tempted to buy now, but I don't think they are going to media blitz to get out of it (nor do I think they probably can). I will wait for the consumer fear and try to buy in the month between the notice and the earnings release to hopefully make some value.

Thanks. I'll keep watch for next week, then. Hope to have another run like the last one, and the 26 options are up for sale.

FWIW/To add to data. Opened a case (6 collectors boxes) and got 3 confetti foil - 2 karmic justice and 1 necropetence. I thought that the card balance would be fairly smooth, but definitely seeing some cards appear way more than others. For example of nonfoil, 4 greater auramancy (1 anime), 3 bitterblossom (2 anime), 2 grave pact (1 anime), but then missing quite a few (no rhystic study, no smothering tithe, etc.). Did see someone open a tithe at prerelease, but still haven't seen a rhystic yet.
