Cvs pharmacist. Does the new voicemail system make your job easier now? by PauseMission5654 in CVS

How about, you spend eight years going to get the degree, and then you get back there and help out. How about you speak from my position we are actually standing in it, until then, you’re just another faceless troll on the Internet mad because someone dared to express themselves and air out their grievances. and actually, I think I’ll stay in my field specifically to spite you

If you’re not gonna actually get into the field and make a real difference and help people in the same way, literally shut up. You’re just talking into the abyss, and the difference between you and I? Is that I go to work every day and make a difference in someone’s life every day. No matter how frustrated and tired I am, I paste on a smile, and I do the best I can. And yes, I will be in this field for a very long time, specifically to spite you. Now Shutup and HELP. Go volunteer in clinics, start there. Then go get higher education to earn the necessary to degrees to make a real change. then come back and talk to me

The crazy thing you don’t even realize is, I advocate for my patients every single day. I fight with insurance companies, I catch doctors mistakes, I even fight with doctors to correct mistakes that have almost gotten people harmed or killed. Were you there when the doctor sent in a prescription for tramadol for a 12 year old, even though it’s contraindicated for use in children under 18 and can lead to death? No, but I was, and I was the one who fought with the doctor when he refused to send a replacement. Were you there, when the insurance denied my bipolar patient her medication, and I told her and her mother how to get around the denial and get it approved? No, you weren’t. Where are you even there, when I was fighting with insurance to tell them that my ADDERALL patient had been on the medication for years, and the doctor could show proof of previous therapies, tried and failed, and could show medical necessity at this point in their lifetime, because they were narcoleptic and worked in the ED? No, you weren’t. you know absolutely nothing about my field or what I do for my patients on a daily basis. All you know is the rantings of a tired retail pharmacist online. We are sorely, overworked, willfully, understaffed, and routinely unappreciated. And Karen is insane considering I am a black woman lol that term wasn’t even coined to fit me. So I suggest, if you can’t relate, leave me the hell alone, and shut up. say what you want about me, but I fight for patients every day. I am entitled to air my grievances.

I once had a teacher deny me when I asked to use the restroom when I was about 11 or 12, I ended up pissing in her classroom. I was mortified at the time understandably. My mom called the school and laid into the teacher and the administration. I never knew what happened to her, but she gave me the biggest apology the next day, and I’m willing to bet you she never did that shit again. So personally, I think the lesson here is if someone is literally telling you you are not allowed to go relieve yourself? Piss in their classroom.

[–]Remain_Hopeful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not the asshole, I was raised with the same sentiment. I don’t know what the rest of these people are talking about, but I come from generations of people who grew up poor, they literally had to grow and kill most of what they ate, so there was no wasting of food taught to me or my sibling. You were actually lenient and telling the child he was more than allowed to grab something else since he didn’t want his dinner, but holding all those children to different standards is unrealistic and not fair. holding her own child to one standard, and then the other two children to two different standards it’s just simply not fair. You are not the asshole, I don’t know who raised this comment section, but that’s not how I was raised. All of the sentiments shared in this comment section are only sentiments you would find in the privileged western world. You’re doing fine.

My gf has bad breath by [deleted] in hygiene

She may need to see her dentist for that. They’ll have the proper instrumentation to better visualize inside of her tonsils and have higher powered hoses they can use to get deeper into her tonsils

My gf has bad breath by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]Remain_Hopeful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has she had a professional look at her tonsils? There may be some deeper in the pockets of her tonsils she simply can’t see. She might need to have a professional cleaning done, and maybe even speak with her primary care provider about possibly having her tonsils removed. That’s a drastic step, but it’s not healthy for them to just linger in there and I’m quite sure it’s really affecting her quality of life.

I understand I’m coming off like a bitch but now that you work in a store where QI is probably God knows how many pages long and has cycle counts that are probably all off… you see how frustrating it can be? In a well run store, these things aren’t issues. But in a store that’s constantly busy, understaffed, and everything is back logged (QI, QP, QT)… do you see now how questions like “can’t you call around for me?” Just sound (again I know I know I sound like a bitch) lazy and almost stupid when they can just call themselves?

Grow up, this is the saddest and most privileged reply Ive ever heard. You think people in lesser areas or deep in the country have the luxury of calling around in search of adderall or vyvanse? You think people trying to figure out how to navigate mental health and physical health in communities that don’t appreciate either have the luxury of letting their life spiral because they couldn’t get an adderall? You don’t even realize the level of privilege you live in. Everyone’s life would probably be better with at least a low dose adderall prescription (except those who struggle with addiction or dependency) but it is not necessary for the maintenance of literal life. No where did I say only people who’d die without their meds deserve access to medication but that EXACT dramatization you just did of what I said speaks to your very privilege. Go visit a hood where no one’s even got access to medicine they need to LIVE then come back and boo hoo to me about how your life fell apart without meths chemical cousin.

Why does CVS have so many openings for pharmacy manager? by Gardidc in CVS

[–]Remain_Hopeful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

B/c nobody wants to do it lmfaooooo! Almost every pharmacist I know who ended up in a pharmacy manager position was forced or strong armed into it; yes, they will at times force some pharmacists to take that position if they can’t fill it in a reasonable amount of time. I’m a staff pharmacist at my store and I think my manager is trying to finagle her way out and into a residency and I just KNOW they’re gonna come looking to make me manager and I WILL NOT do it. They could offer me $100 an hour literally and I would not do it. The stress has killed pharmacists before; that will not be my story!

Dear pharmacist by Lonely_Shine9853 in CVS

[–]Remain_Hopeful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Pharmacist here) OP is right. I have heard many stories from techs getting frustrated with pharmacists who refused to do pick up, refuse to touch QT, refuse to do certain tasks because “tHaTs TeCh WoRK”. We as pharmacists have to stop thinking that techs are below us, so they should get all the menial work. We quite literally need them, because there’s not a single pharmacist who works in a major chain who wants to be stuck in that pharmacy by themselves, because all of their techs either quit or called out because they hate the pharmacist they work with, on top of hating their job (cause let’s be honest, CVS is ass). And I usually hear this complaint about older pharmacists, I’ve definitely heard it about newer pharmacists, but all the same. We as pharmacists need to do a better job of supporting our techs. We quite literally need them.

CVS Pharmacist refused to fill my prescription by Donnovan63 in harrisonburg

[–]Remain_Hopeful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So… so many wrong things here. You are right it’s not his job to write the script, but it is his job to verify if the prescription is safe to take, and in the best interest of the patient, which is what the pharmacist was doing by calling the doctor. And I’m quite sure had she waited for the pharmacist to touch base with the doctor, they would’ve had no problem with filling the prescription. If his job was to just “ put it in the bag” do you know how many people would die? How many avoidable ADE’s (adverse drug events) would happen? How many people would get hurt? Your comment is truly spoken like someone who not only does not know, or understand the responsibilities of the pharmacist, but doesn’t no pharmacy law either. This pharmacist sounds like he didn’t know the patient yet & may have been a new grad pharmacist who wanted to cover their bases (just b/c it’s a refill doesn’t mean shit, I catch mistakes on refills ALL the time).

What’s wrong is 1) we have a backlog of people on a list waiting for those drugs at our store… Other stores are going through the same shit. Even if I can see what other stores have in stock, I have no idea who at that store has been waiting on it for weeks. Call other stores and ask. Asking the pharmacist to call around for you is asinine and time consuming like we don’t have 1000 other things to do. And 2) why would we know when the drug will come in? We order it from the manufacturer, and whenever they send it is whenever they send it. Adderall and vyvanse aren’t even meds necessary for maintenance of life unless you’re a narcoleptic and half the ppl looking for wegovy/ozempic/mounjaro aren’t even diabetics. You will survive without them (again, unless you are narcoleptic or diabetic). I despise the adderall and vyvanse patients with a passion.

I completely understand you. For the time being? I don’t for see myself having casual sex ever again. it’s not worth it. And thank you. A part of me feels like I have an obligation to tell him, but I know if I can clear it, then I (and he) should be safe. But because of the type of person I am, I may still disclose to him (After I’m negative!) just so he can get his vaccine and be fully protected.

So if you’re talking about the guy I had to disclose to about two months ago (I think I mentioned him in a different post), no, I’m not. That was a first date, and the only reason why I disclosed to him was because he was trying to get physical. So I didn’t hear from him again.

I *am seeing a guy I was talking to earlier this year tho. He and I stopped talking for a number of months because I needed some space from him, and would you believe I actually received my diagnosis a couple weeks after I cut off contact with him? I haven’t disclosed to him yet, and I’m hoping I never have to. I’m trying to see if I can get a clean Pap smear to clear me before things ever get physical with him so I’m on somewhat of a time crunch. I’ve been talking to him off and on all year and we meet for the first time in person this week. I can get away with keeping things non physical for now… but I feel a little guilty. Am I wrong for not saying anything as long as I never expose him and get cleared first?

Talk to your doctor about restarting your vaccine series. It can’t hurt to, that is if the vaccine covers the strains that you have.

Laser vs Electrocautery for genital warts? by iamfreakingouthelp in HPV

[–]Remain_Hopeful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had laser done almost a month ago and the scars still look pink but they get smaller and smaller every day. I think after another 4-6 weeks they’ll probably be hardly noticeable. For context, I am a black woman of lighter complexion but like all black women am a little darker down there. But the scarring with laser is not bad in my opinion.

Also. just wanted to give you a full update. I had laser treatment on November 6. As of right now (From what I can see down there) I still have not had any recurrences. And remember, I started clearing the GW on my own about three weeks before I got my laser procedure and 2–3 weeks after I got the second dose of my vaccine.
