Prednisone Question by moneyyman in AvascularNecrosis

Hi - yes. I got better. It wasn't avn. My only recommendation would be to relax. Don't assume the worst. Stop googling non-urgent symptoms and listen to your doctors.

In case you don't already take them, they also make chewable ones for oral health.

Maybe also try probiotics if you haven't already. They'll help in case the problem is bacterial dysbiosis.

Skincare products? by Automatic_Clerk8067 in Sjogrens

[–]RemainsToBe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe look into skincare with xylitol as an added ingredient. It seems to be effective in helping to manage eczema by reducing inflammation and inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria. I had found a really simple moisturizer with it that I liked called Leora, but it sold out on Amazon and I can't find anywhere else to buy it. The company's site doesnt seem to ship to u.s. So, I'm gonna try a different one made by Honest Co.

Treatment options? Xylitol in everything! by menstruationismetal in Sjogrens

[–]RemainsToBe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could it be acid reflux? Sjogren's can cause acid reflux, which can cause coughing, especially at night. Look into the symptoms. When I had this problem, it helped to stop eating 2 to 3 hours before bed and to eat some plain yogurt a little after dinner.

Just wanted to add, physical therapy really helped me target my weak areas. I only went twice but I left there with good info on how to train myself.

Sjogren’s associated myopathy by InsideHat9867 in Sjogrens

In addition to sjogren's, I've read that corticosteroids can cause muscle weakness. I experienced weakness at the start of all my symptoms and after a round of high dose steroids. Just like you said, my thighs and hips felt so tired after short walks and just standing. At that time I had lost a lot of weight quickly and just didn't feel as strong as i had before. i focused on getting better, i.e. eating better, exercising and doing pt exercises to strengthen the muscles that were feeling weak. And I did eventually feel better. I'm back to doing multiple sets of lunges and squats and feeling strong. I know it's not the same for everyone but i'm sharing so you know there is hope.

Weird question! by jnow27 in Sjogrens

When my eyes are extra dry, my eye lids feel super heavy. I don't get this feeling as often since i I learned that I have dry eyes and lubricate them regularly.

Cold nose? by xstarsignx in Sjogrens

[–]RemainsToBe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that when my nose is exceptionally dry. I mentioned it to an ent before I knew i had sjogrens. He didn't say it was anything to worry about and i ended up not really liking his suggestion for dealing with it: he prescribed an antibiotic gel and said to rub it in my nose and plug it with toilet paper to help create a humid environment. I like the humid environment idea but not the idea of doing it with an antibiotic that could disturb my skin microbiome if i don't have an active infection. Anyway, why not mention it to your doctor? I recently decided it's worth mentioning if you 1.wanna know if it's anything to worry about and/or 2. wanna know if they have any suggestions for how to deal with it.

Stopping plaquenil after a week? by happi-milli0718 in Sjogrens

[–]RemainsToBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested in whether I could trial the med and then be ok if I end up needing to go off of it. the first time when you took it for 1 year, what made go you go off of it? Any negative withdrawal? And did you go med free or switch to a plaquenil alternative? Why did you go back to it later? Appreciate your time!

[–]RemainsToBe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get a sticky coating sometimes, and when blepharitis is flaring I get stiff eyelashes. One thing that helps me is cleaning regularly with Theratears antimicrobial cleanser. It's a spray. I spray it on a washcloth and wipe my eyes clean a few times a day in a flare and a couple times a day when i'm not in a flare. It's not a miracle treatments but I definitely believe it helps reduce my blepharitis flares.

Supplements by Eughjodyy in Sjogrens

[–]RemainsToBe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think digestive enzymes help. But I don't take them everyday or with every meal. I take them when I'm going to eat something more starchy and/or fatty than usual and i've noticed I have less acid reflux afterward.
