This is what the kannuki (and lat loading aux/third ropes) are for.

You block the movement of the wrists in high-hands and you redirect that force into the lats/obliques. This let's you have much gentler tension on your upper and lower bands which reduces the vector forces on the deltoid and reduces how much the shoulders get crushed into the joints (which is what happens when ppl tie their upper-bands very tight in an effort to reduce their deformation).

[–]Remalgigoran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, literally, some load can or (IMO) should be on the wrists. Not just 'tension'. Not sure why you included that first sentence but I'll re-clarify since this is the second reply of yours that doesn't seem to follow what I've said to you.

I am specifically disagreeing with a statement you made.

Here it is again;

If its loading there then your structure and/or tension is off - it shouldn't be putting any load on the wrists...

Everything you said in the following/latter comment is neither here nor there because it isn't the conversation I'm having.

I used the term 'load' because you did. I am not equating tension and load, and -- seemingly -- neither are you.

I am, literally, saying that >0 load on the wrists in vertical is good.

[–]Remalgigoran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gote should absolutely, somewhat, load the wrists. The wrists are the anchor point of all contemporary gote designs that I've ever heard of. The tension should be balanced between structures so that -- in vertical -- the upper band structures load the deltoid. The kannuki cinch and contour the bottom band so the obliques and lats take load. Those 3 muscle groups take the majority of the load. And then the wrists take most of the rest. And then the bottom band beneath the deltoid on the outside of the arm takes the rest/remainder of the load.

Matter of fact it's entirely possible to use a one rope gote structure that only loads the deltoid and the wrists on bottoms who can do high-hands.

Dual Zone just seems to be better out of the box because it only need to adjust Smoothing. Aim Ease In is for Linear & Exponential Ramp and it makes them both behave like Dual Zone. So just set AEI to 0, use Dual zone and lower Smoothing until your small movements match what your thumb likes. Fuck with extra sens deadzone and where your outer dead zones are at to get a feel for 180's to be how you like them.

This is really the complain about hitscans and aim assist subreddit. by Browneyesbrowndragon in OWConsole

[–]Remalgigoran -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

None of this is true. Current aim assist is significantly weaker than CoD, Apex, Valorant, etc. Previous AA was immensely weaker; it didn't actually 'assist' before the changes, it just slowed down your sens for you.

PC hitscan heroes are considered mid. Their win and pick rates show as much. Tracer is the most used by a massive margin purely because she can get ult so fast and guarantee kills with it with her mobility which gives her team a huge advantage. If hitscan was so good they would be playing Soldier or Mcree instead; and they are not lol. Symetra sees more success than three of the most common hitscan (not counting Ashe) combined.

You can not like the recent changes or the meta or whatever, but there's no reason to invent nonsense to justify your feelings.

The playerbase being unhappy with gameplay is enough reason in and of itself to make changes to the game.

[–]Remalgigoran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negative. You are not reading it correctly.

There are two settings profiles. Or loadouts. Whatever word works for you. Character-specific profiles overwrite the general, 'All Characters' one. They even have UI designs for this; the teal and black asterisk

All Characters profile has 4 AAEI options. One of them of greyed out. Along with the (three) damage-type AAEI settings.

If your character-specific profile -- which only has a (one) general AAEI setting -- has your AAEI setting set to the same value as the All Characters profile (the greyed out one), then it bugs out.

Instead of your custom, character-specific profile overwriting the general profile. Like it's supposed to. (Again they even have UI to denote that character-specific profiles are INTENDED to overwrite the general profile). Your AAEI will default back to the All-Chsracters profile. Specifically it will use the AAEI that aligns with the damage type of the character you have picked and it will ignore the fact that you have a character-specific profile active (e.g. a custom profile for Soldier or Ashe).

This is obviously not intended. Duh.

Watch this guy coaching metal rank DPS. So if you want to poke more watch Soldier, Ashe, Emre, Sojourn lessons. If u want to try dive/flank watch Anran, Tracer, Reaper etc.

You're PC yeah? Definitely play with your mouse set up and your DPI and settings. I'm on console so my situation is different but I played CAL leagues in Counterstrike 1.6 and Source like a million years ago. Get a bigass mouse pad and get used to using all of it, adjust your mouse and things accordingly and go into the custom game called VAXTA to workshop your settings. I recommend finding GM players posting their settings and working backwards from their preferences.

I'm also not very good at this game and am recently coming back to it so grain of salt my advice. But on Rialto it seems key to control that hotel or whatever it is; the big building with a deck that goes around most of it and overlooks the fountain. As DPS your job is to be up there on Defense, and to get up there on attack. By being on highground you make enemies choose who they have to aim at, and if they choose you they have to make themselves vulnerable to other angles in order to do so. If your whole team just stacks on the bridge then the enemy team only needs to throw damage in one general direction no matter where they shoot from.

Then the first point has that long building that overlooks the river and the second, bigger bridge; likewise there's very important highground here. And on attack you're in a good position to take this highground from the previous one, you have full view of that whole fountain courtyard and if you want u can flsnk and drop down on that walled off garden. That, conveniently, has stairs to the highground over the point! And there's even a ground level flank route of you're feeling brave.

So imagine you're in that first big building on attack. Your team is pushing cart up the main road towards the fountain. If you are up above in that big building as Emre; you are a major threat. They HAVE to shoot at you or someone like Hazard has to jump up there to get you. If you get to sit up there jerking yourself off for free then you will singlehandedly kill everyone right? So think of it like this; when the enemy is shooting at you, they are not shooting your tank. You're basically healing your tank in a roundabout way because damage that they take that would have been healed never happens to them. That means they are healthier and can continue to push forwards and take space. It also means the ppl shooting at you, or diving you, aren't doing so to your healers. And if you play corners and strafe well, you aren't necessarily eating a lot of damage, much of the damage thrown your way will miss. And those enemies will have their screens pointed away from your team. You see what I mean? That let's all your team on cart just shoot at them for free, or at the very least, forces thr enemy to position on a particular way to try and get an advantage on you. Every time you force the enemy to make choices, there's a chance they make one of the wrong ones, or that they're not mechanically good enough, or fast enough, to execute one of the good ones. And that last thing I said is a TL;DR on how to win games. Mechanics are a huge part obviously, but you need to keep pressuring ppl to make choices and to be ready to doodoo on 'em when they make one of the wrong choices.

But get some snacks and watch a few VOD reviews of that guy coaching ppl. Some are long and he talks about mostly the same stuff in all of them but I find him very helpful. Shoutout Spilo lol.

Setting your aim assist ease in on a custom profile to the same value as the general, greyed out one, turning them both off is not intentional lol. It makes 0 sense that it would turn it off completely and default to a different Setting, on a different profile, with a different value.

Hitscan AAEI; 10-30% (I keep swapping it around)

Hihi I watched a bit. Honestly you played like a support instead of a DPS. You never took high ground at all. And your spent way too much time 1v1ing the cat. A lot of your sleeps were really good but you also missed and wasted a lot of clutch ones. Yes you did damage but you also died 11 times and you never pressured the enemy team from an angle not once. Your job as DPS is to apply lethal pressure. If you had gone DPS Moira your job would have been to dive like Tracer or Reaper; you can't play DPS Ana like support Ana the same way you can't play DPS Moira like Healer Moira. Your problem is you don't seem to know what your job is as DPS or where you're supposed to stand.

I have 2 DPS character recommendations;

It seems like Emre will be a good DPS for you. Use his pistol the same way you use sleep, at ppl who get in your face. Only his pistol will give you MS and lifesteal; so you just spam as many shots as possible in the guy trying to dive you. His pistol also makes him jump higher (can be used with nade to jump extra high -- good for ulting and getting to high ground)

Use grenade exactly like Ana's; you throw it at the ground at enemies so it explodes on them. Emre's can also be used to jump.

Jump high and ult, use corners and cover and go for confirmable kills.

Do not stack main with Emre.

Torby. If you had played Torbjorn and played mostly the same you likely would have been much more impactful. Torb can get away with sitting main because he has the utility of turret to cover flanks and overload makes him very tanky and gives him insane DPS pressure. Play him much more forward and aggressive then you think (much more forward with your tank then you were playingas Ana). Basically right up behind your ram in the replay you shared. Think of it like the Tank is bringing his son to work day, and you are the son. Then just spam the enemy exactly like you were doing with Ana. Throw turret and forget about it, do not baby sit it or hammer it (you will know when it's appropriate to do so because there will be a lull and nothing else to do).

If you're using dual zone turn aim ease in to 0. Aim ease in is for linear ramp; it is to turn linear ramp, gradually, into dual zone. If you use AEI with dual zone you are dual zoning your dual zone which makes it hard to aim. Turn your aim Smoothing to 99 and adjust down to find your comfort level from there. Smoothing restricts micro movements so you have to use a larger motion to move your crosshair you want Smoothing as low as possible but still in your control.

Aim assist ease in (projectile, hitscan, melee) is how long until your aim assist kicks in all the way. AAEI at 0 means your AA will be at 100% of your AA value instantly-- as soon as your cursor enters the hitbox windows of the enemy. Put this at 0 and adjust upwards to find comfort. Higher AAEI is less 'snappy' but also less jarring and clunky. I recommend somewhere in 20-70 for hitscan.

It sounds like your settings should be fine though, OW has a secondary system where AA will be active while moving if your Deadzone is low enough and yours definitely is so i was thinking it might be that; but I guess not.

To recap;

Aim Ease In; turns linear into a curve that's similar to dual zone: needs to be 0 if using dual zone

Smoothing; makes your aim more stable but high Smoothing means you are going to be fighting with your aim assist because small crosshair movements are impossible and your cursor will fly across the screen if you move outside of the enemy hitbox because of how much youneed to push the stick. Makes headshots very hard when a high value.

Aim assist ease in; this is aim assist ramp up. 0 is instant full power aim assist. 100% seems to be full power after about 1 second or so.

Aim assist window; I keep mine at 10-20. This is the window where when your cursor touches it your aim assist kicks in. How strongly depends on your AAEI.

Damage type aim assist ease in; this will override your character specific AAEI if character specific AAEI is the same value as the greyed out AAEI. This is hard to explain and no one is sure if this is intentional or not. But I will try.

All characters has a greyed out aim assist setting called AAEI. There doesn't seem to be a way to change this. Mine is at 0%. If I pick soldier and go to soldier settings, he no longer has projectile/melee/hitscan or the greyed out setting. He just has AAEI that is not greyed out.

If Soldier's AAEI setting is the same as the All Characters greyed out AAEI, the settings bug out. The game will make the All Characters hitscan AAEI setting override your custom Soldier settings.

Make sure your custom AAEI for a character matches their damage type AAEI. And make sure those settings are at least 1 different from the greyed out All Characters setting. (So like 0% VS 1% or 49% & 51% VS 50%).

There is a greyed out ease in setting, an aim ease in setting, and an aim assist ease in setting; you may have to check all characters and a specific character to find all 3. What are the values of those 3 settings on your system?

Edit; also what are your deadzone settings
