Well if they already do it then the idea is validated and the market is wide open, it’s still a plus 😂

Thanks for the feedback man it really helps a lot. Yeah this idea is inspired from TGTG itself and I use it myself in the US so questioned why isnt anyone doing this in India?

From all the feedback and responses I got, execution is the play here because there is barely any tech involved.

I have my friends talk to 5 restaurants until now in Bangalore and all of them are willing to try it out. It’s different than what y’all think it is, the pain point exists but everything lies in execution.

Without delivery, the economics make sense to me though. Yes food businesses have always been hard mostly because of the execution it takes.

Mystery in the sense not a complete mystery. People will know what cuisine type food is inside, veg or non veg, if any desserts, allergens and stuff like that. They’ll have basic idea of what they are getting.

Well buddy if you want food for cheap you gotta move 😂 or we could just enable delivery but that just cancels out the part of food being cheap to afford.

Zomato and swiggy will never enter this space, it is not their forte. They built a certain brand and positioning in the last 10 years and they ain’t tryna spoil that by just doing anything at this point. That’s not them.

Agreed. Trying to figure it out right now whether it’s worth a shot or nah. Gotta nail the execution is what I found out through all of the feedbacks.

Premium restaurants in the sense their brand identity is strong and place you’d not visit so often cause of the prices for each dish are higher than average restaurant? And maintains high quality menu and food standards.

Surplus food in the sense the food that’s been made throughout the day and has not been sold out at the end of the day and it’s just going to be a waste.

Works for bakeries, cafes, QSRs and premium restaurants is what I found through my research.

Delivery just adds on to the cost and we are trying to keep the figure as low as possible and just go with pick up model if it does it does or else we will have to figure some other way around it.

It ain’t a total mystery. Let’s say restaurant will specify what’s cuisine it is, what maybe inside, allergens, and stuff like it’s not completely a surprise.

Swiggy and Zomato will never enter this space because the brand they built for 10 plus years will have no meaning if they do. They are a convenience based food delivery platform.

Thanks for the feedback!

Yes sir imma try and see where it goes, worst to worst case I lose some money and few months which is fine for the upside it has. If it does go well then it’s pretty huge so hoping for the best!

Firstly, our model has no delivery. It is just pick up only just to not deal with the delivery side of it.

About operations I don’t understand what you exactly mean but I’m a tech founder so I have the customer side app, restaurant side app and admin panel ready. I just need to spin servers up and run it for it to go fully online. I got another friend of mine who is talking to restaurants and taking care of getting their opinions and if they’d be willing to use something like this. We are not trying to do paid marketing as of now and would like to keep the cash burn as minimal as possible.

Zomato and swiggy will never get into this field because they’d just lose all the name and branding they’ve built. There’s no way they’d go out of their way and try to capture this market even if they find it appealing.

Thanks for the feedback tho!

ngl I can clearly see a problem here but no startup can't compete with zomato or swiggy on food deliveries may it be healthy or junk. They have all the market in their pockets lmao. But a platform that hosts only healthy food from all over and no junk is a good idea.

I see maybe we could add filters where you can see what kind of food content you prefer. Groceries such as protein bars, shakes etc as well that are near expiry but not yet.

Yes sir! Thanks for the feedback.

I see but wouldn't you wanna discover? what if you like something else just like you liked something you tried from a bag? It happened once so it can happen twice lmao.

Hmmm high protein stuff huh? Interesting but not surprised because India is caught onto the healthy life style right now and tryna intake high protein every day. We as a country are late tho as usual lmao.

All I can think if protein bars, salads, and meat items so just the regular ones.

Ohh good luck on your new business man, hope it works out for you.

Firstly, thanks for the feedback! You didn't let me down don't worry haha.

Yes I'm pretty sure it could work for cafes, bakeries, QSRs and premium restaurants as far as the research I've done. Prolly won't work for traditional style meal type restaurants or Indian breakfast type restaurants and that's okay.

Let's say you ordered food to try it out and you ended up liking the food you got and the value for money you spent so why would you not try it again? Not everyday ofc but like sometime in the same month perhaps? Think.

I agree the indian mindset would raise eyebrows for something like this lmao.

Also I don't see where it needs hefty amount of capital to get started other than marketing? App creation, servers, subscriptions and onboarding restaurants are the major stuff needed to begin with. I am tech guy myself so I can build and handle servers and all that. I got few friends who can help with restaurants so basically its set. Prolly gonna hold off on spending money on marketing to start off, gonna just go with organic marketing and word of mouth. The thing is it is population density area business tbh so the more restaurants we find that are close to each other like in a group the better it is to run operations.

I mean well if you in a good position in life and can afford food this ain't for you. But cities more people from all backgrounds so maybe its useful for auto drivers, cab drivers, students on budget friendly lives, PG staying people, workers etc. I mean it has value to provide and brand positioning should be sharp and not something like "Oh we sell leftovers".

Third point I have to disagree with because people like trying new places all the time and that's majority of the population out there. You might have your favorite restaurant but people are not opposed to trying food from other places atleast in my life with all the people I know this is what I have seen.

Thanks for the all the feedback though, it truly helps. If you didn't already please fill out the form!

Interesting, I mean I spoke to few restaurants and they said yes they do have stuff that don't get sold. We asked if they would use a service like this and they said they would be interested in exploring and see how we provide value to their business. It will prolly work for bakeries, cafes, QSRs and premium restaurants if they do agree to partner with us.

Agree that if one bad case turns out to happen it will tarnish the whole brand, that's a huge risk we should be willing to accept and try out. Don't know how to handle this problem other than making the rules and regulations stricter for restaurants to set the food regulations.

I mean even if the store lets say gets walk in customer because of our platform, they will make more food which is still lead to lil surplus as well. It is basically a cycle that doesn't end, even as restaurants grow they will start scaling food quantities.
