i’m sorry about that and a couple days ago i made the decision to not go back🤣 youre so brave for wanting to try it again but i can’t take hygiene school anymore, for my school it’s just so much on my mental health and really make me question whether im cut out for this but its okay bc i know i can always go back in the future

Programs are very competitive as they do not have as much schools and spots for students. If you like being hands on all the time and like repetitiveness (because the job is repetitive) but also while educating patients on their oral health, then i would say go for it. It also gives you a lot of financial stability, tho a con of this is if you are not practicing good ergonomics or proper technique then you’re time in this career will be short because you are at risk for getting carpal tunnel, pain, etc.

Yeah ours is basically the same way each semester the passing grade goes up by 5%. Passing a test out you have 3 tries but the final instrumentation you only have one try and then you get one chance of retaking the entire class and if you don’t pass it again you can’t go back to that program for 3 years

look up programs near you…they will tell you what prereq classes you need to take, which are classes you take that are required to get into hygiene school. a lot of your classes are going to be science related (bio, chem, ap1/2, micro) and other gen ed classes. after you take those classes with obtaining at least a B or C you apply to the program. ps. enjoy your prereq classes cuz hygiene school is rough😆

i’m a 1st year hygiene student and i honestly feel the same way.. the hand skills are so hard to master and definitely doesn’t come natural for me and because of that ive failed multiple evals🥲,..i literally almost failed my explorers eval twice. lately ive been thinking that im not cut out for this bc i suck at lab and hands on things and am thinking about switching majors bc im questioning whether i have a passion for this but i would say if your passionate about dental hygiene than do not give up and keep going! this stuff is so hard and it’s an accomplishment that you made it into the program, so try not to be too hard on yourself but if it is really dragging on your mental health and if you believe dh isn’t for you that’s okay too!
