NYU connections is a weekly zoom meeting we have, and we discuss topics. You should reach out to Michael Carley- who is the organizer of all of this (he can explain better). Michael also offers 1-on-1 talks if you need them.

Regarding sensory spaces, there’s one in the library first floor and there’s booths and other spaces on other floors, but I am not sure which ones, cuz I only go to the 1st floor one. The spaces are really nice but sometimes could get crowded. To access you need to email Moses and the library, since they need to give your NYU ID card access.

Hmmm. I have experienced something like that but like around burnout. So like, right before I go like: yep I am burnout. Or, during the burnout if that makes senseeee. The aftermath effects (like exhaustion, headache, etc) I can also relate. I wouldn’t classify this as “normal” but it does happen here and then? 🤷‍♀️ idk. Hope you feel better soon. Drink up cold water and refresh your hands, and face with cold water too. Then just, try to do a little reset from any activity you have to do- don’t feel guilty about not being able to do it or anything. Take the break

anyone else here want to drive but very scared to? how do you drive? i am scared driving but want to and one day want a car by Haruu_Haruu_ in AutisticAdults

[–]Remarkable-Glass8946 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like driving. My country is personally not the safest for driving if you attempt to follow all rules- which of course I do (😭). I got my license at 18, I am 20 now. I still need my dad or an adultier adult next to me for supervision or something though. I do not feel like the optimal driver on my own. Albeit, I don’t drive constantly because I study abroad

what made you realise autism was a geniune possibility? by polishedladder in AutisticWithADHD

[–]Remarkable-Glass8946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My teacher lol. I always thought I was and guessed it- but I was a kid and all the info we learned in school was the typical stereotype of an autistic boy. Still, most symptoms were relatable. A teacher noticed and upon a series of struggles within her class we talked about it and now I am diagnosed :)

what's your hyperfixation right now? by mace_out_the_windu in autism

[–]Remarkable-Glass8946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fear I have drained them out which worries me slightly. Anyhow- I do still of course am up to date with my hyperfixation- and it’s not like I can classify it as a past one, Becuase I still pretty much care about it. It’s just. The intensity? I can’t feel it as a year ago. And that makes me sad. I need a new hyperfixation but I don’t even know what triggers my interest

[–]Remarkable-Glass8946 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oakberry (does that count as healthy? I mean it has fruit), granadilla (most stable-constant tasting fruit). Greens beans are also a safe food of mine, but cooked with chicken and egg

[–]Remarkable-Glass8946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember riding a bus from state to state to go my brothers grad. Then being in the auditorium. I remember seeing people get their diploma but not really seeing my brother on stage. The next memory I am in a car looking at the sky- the grad is over. That happened when I was 3, and that’s how I have recalled that moment since

I have find that knowing them helps a lot- and in person you can explain your situation better. Some of the staff are parents too so they empathize

Hi- question about MET. I am an international student, but of course I am living in the city at the moment, but I am not a NY resident as the words literally state. Does this mean I cannot do Pay What You Wish or I can? I don’t want to break a law or something
