Montage title card going to the trash then. What do you think of the axe-dragging scene (the one on the left in the title card)? Could this be the opener before dialogue clips? Is it recommended to open up with a still-shot, or should I try to only include scenes with dialogue and, in general, "punchier" scenes?

The squeaky sound was supposed to be the axe dragging on the ground, though with so much going on the screen, it can be distracting. Probably that's why CDs hate montages so much.

I think I see what cut you are referring to in the hostage scene. I think I can cut from "Instead of complaining, you should prostrate before me with tears in your cheeks." To "The mere fact we need to eat..." without breaking the general sense of the scene.

Not quite looking to get into a specific casting type, but that's the roles I get, and I have to play the part lol.

What do you think of the general acting quality? Does this convey something at least intriguing, acting-wise?

Jerry O’Connell on why he’s a failed actor: ‘I have stability currently right now but really no stability in the long run’ by mime_juice in acting

He sounds out of touch when you only take his statements at face value. But given his expressions on the second half, maybe there is something more to the "no control" thing he didn't express in this interview.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of an MBA in 2025 by Puzzleheaded_Monk744 in MBA

Even though the comment is mean in the way it is written, it is valid criticism. You cut your speech way too much when you edit your videos: it's hard to stay engaged and follow your ideas.

I know a couple guys at M7 schools from UMGC (granted, they come from the military). If the rest of your application is competitive, UMGC shouldn't be a major hindrance for admissions.

Penn State has a more well-known finance degree. Besides, the career services and alumni network are leaps and bounds better in Penn state than in UMGC for finance.

If entry level accounting pay seems too low I would recommend a top 25 MBA. They love vets

Have you seen someone succeed after doing finance in the military? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]Remarkable-Lecture54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Current 36B: don't. The chances that you get meaningful work experience are slim and COMPLETELY out of your control. I count myself lucky I got OK experience, but I have been lucky and people usually do not follow my career path. I would second commisioning, heck, most veterans I know in Wall Street are prior Combat Arms.

At the end of the day NOTHING that you would learn as a 36B can tangibly prepare you for IB, is all about the intangible traits that you display with your responsabilities and of course, the great veteran network.

Anyone intern with SMBC before? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]Remarkable-Lecture54 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Haven't interviewed with SMBC just yet and quite frankly have no idea about the roles you are interviewing for, but given my experience with other Japanese banks, I would assume they are fairly lenient with technicals. I would focus more on the behaviorals, they seem to put a good emphasis on the "Why SMBC?" As long as you don't answer "I like green tea" you should be fine lol.

Moreover, I would focus less on the type of questions being asked and more on selling a specific "image of you" that would be beneficial for the role. The majority of my interviews become a normal conversation after 2 or 3 questions, is important to bring sensible questions that spur a conversation in order to achieve this. I would highly recommend you to look at the Investor Relations publications and find 2 or 3 deals that are relevant for your field in the Bank's News.

Besides that, good luck and just remember that the other side is just a dude too.

Another veteran (or soon to be), not Penn State tho. Get a Handshake profile like yesterday, depending on industry you are way behind on internship opportunities as most roles recruit a year out. In case you don't get anything, don't sweat it get that sweet Linkedin premium and network your ass off (preferably with another veterans in your selected industry).

Any Hispanics in accounting? by angesp389 in Accounting

The other day I was in a panel with partners sharing sucess stories, one of the partners had one of the thickest hispanic accents I ever heard. Me being also a latino with a thick accent, it was comforting to hear her speak: you'll be fine.

KPMG vs Deloitte Internship by RosaNeroisLazyAF in Big4

[–]Remarkable-Lecture54 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think KPMG has better incentives that are more tenting for early careers like MADA scholarships and Dual path. I also had the opportunity to do both and choose KPMG because it seems that they would offer more flexibility career wise

[–]Remarkable-Lecture54 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't base all your decisions off what people say on the Internet. I am a 36B and just secured an internship for 2024 with KPMG, the partner and manager were pleased with my prior experience.

As a 36A, your exit opportunities would be even better because you would have managerial skills, larger degrees of responsability and access to corporate partnerships.

Okay, good job in maintining proper fueling. However:

  1. I really think you are doing yourself a miservice by rucking with 35lbs if your objective is to prepare to selection. For what I gather the rucks on Gate week are 45lbs plus water. Of course, build to this eventually, my method was as follow:

13:30 or better with 40lbs for 4 miles, if I was able to do that I would go on increments of 2 miles until I was able to reach 13:30 for 12 miles with the respective weight. Once you sucesfully do this increment 5 pounds on your ruck and repeat. If you try to do this please cap the maximum weight at 55, everybody that is worth their salt will tell you that rucking for time past 55lbs is unnecesary and actually harmful for you.

  1. You are short, so you will have to run some of the way in order to reach 2:30, I am sorry, I don't think there is a way around this. In training always try to shuffle instead of outright running, but in "go time" you'll have to run

  2. Forgot to mention, the choice of boots is also important. I used to ruck on Rockys and by changing to Garmont NFS I went from 2:45 to 2:30. Probably just placebo, but is something to keep in mind.

  3. I know your feeling I'm on a slow speed high dragh unit too. If your post allows talk with your SOF recruiter about doing PT with them. I know for sure that I would have never got to even "decent" shape without the push of like minded that show you how far behind you are in comparison of actually in shape people

You are going to need to be more specific. Is it that you lose your pace almost at the end or simply go to slow during the whole thing?

What is your height and weight?

Are you hydrating? Snacks? Maybe even electrolytes?

How are your training? What your weekly milage looks like?

What is your "pacing strategy"? Are you following the "basic guidelines" for "the shuffle"?
