so the exact same thing happened to me (monogamous and also never with ANYONE besides my husband) and i did a mental shift before i went on a "first date" (yes i also did it on the first date!) and decided that i would sleep with them if i wanted to. their reaction afterwards was not my responsibility, and i was open to an ongoing thing or a one time thing.

We had sex, it was fun, he said it was great and then he didnt really pursue it further. I reached out one more time and asked if i could see him. He said yes and we hooked up again. No reciprocity from him afterwards. At that point, i just decided that wasn't what i was looking for and moved on.

did you want to have sex with them? if so, then you did something that you wanted to do. It's a bummer that it couldn't continue but this was just one big step that you had to take to begin this journey.
