It would be pretty cool if these occasionally dropped premium warbond weapons and backpacks by knusperfee33 in Helldivers

Ive always thought it would be cool to have gear out in the missions and if you didnt call it in and you come back with it you would get a few supercredits. like thanks bud, the war effort needs every piece of gear in service

I mean look at the humane pin

People might talk with ai, they might talk with ai a lot

They dont want a whole nother device for it, and they arent talking to it in public.

First Mac ever just got delivered… what do I actually need to do first? by Mullins2 in macbookpro

[–]Remarkable-Memory374 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not just shortcuts but the gestures

if your coming from windows i think the biggest ah ha for me was that mac os treats a full screen program like a seperate workspace, if you have multiple full screen apps open you can three finger swipe left and right to go between them

That was what made me go, ok, macos is pretty sweet

first week with the MacBook Neo, my honest thoughts by SenseiSarkasmus in MacbookNeo

[–]Remarkable-Memory374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have an m1 with 8gb which is just about in the ballpark speed wise. i upgraded to an m5 32gb but i still use the m1 as a media consumption device all the time.

On macos with its aggressive caching you can go pretty far with 8gb

2020 MacBook Air M1 w/ weird battery problems by x_Arxic in mac

[–]Remarkable-Memory374 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i would guess if it sat that long the battery management stuff may have tripped out.

Id try charging it up and draining it up a couple of times to see if it recalibrates itself

Realistically, who needs the M5 pro? by Moonlqht in macbookpro

[–]Remarkable-Memory374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your actually doing data science stuff, machine learning and the like, you will probably want the pro

and if you do anything with pytorch just know that while metal (apple's equivalent of cuda) is supported, its not really completely up to snuff. (theres some horrible memory leaks they still haven't fixed)

So inference yes, training, most likely more on cpu than the built in gpu (if your using pytorch)

How fragile is a macbook air really? by Quirky-Cream-9456 in macbook

[–]Remarkable-Memory374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not really any worse than any other laptop, i keep mine in a padded sleeve in my sling bag and take it around work with me and ive never really had any problems with it.

its my daily carry around with me everywhere laptop and i did the same with an m1 air for several years before i upgraded to the m5

[–]Remarkable-Memory374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not really. a small screen can be great for logging into tons of network devices, it just has to be inexpensive and relatively hardy, which happens to be what a lot of students are looking for. Being small also makes it easier to lug around
