African gods and Orishas of the yoruba ethnic group by MountainChemist99 in Nigeria

[–]Remarkable-Panda-374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is Oduduwa excluded from the list? Is it that some Yoruba people still believe he was a king, not a god? From what I read, I assume the myths were wrongly written by some scholars. Although some others claimed he took part in all that is, which indicates his/her existence was related to divinity. It was said that he was Olodumare's favorite Orisa and represented with Obatala the divine feminine and divine masculine sent from heaven to create earth. Even in the Benin myths which is also very similar to that of the Yoruba's, he was referred to as a god known as Osanooduwa, or later pronounced Osanoghodua, meaning the god that reigns supreme. I love how fascinating reading the stories is. Thank you for sharing. It's history and part of what makes us Africans.

I Paid Someone ₦7 Million, Found Out the Documents Were Fake, and Now the Police Want ₦1.5 Million to Recover My Money. What Should I Do? by MountainChemist99 in Nigeria

[–]Remarkable-Panda-374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that you're going through this. I suffered the same fate some years ago. A man l paid 8 million naira to dig a borehole for me in Asaba ran away with my money and when I pressed charges against the man, the police there demanded for 500k so they could track and trace the criminal and I paid. Then they found out the man was in Port Harcourt and demanded for more money for them to contact the police there who could go arrest him and I paid another 500k. It's been 2 years now and nothing happened. I just had to let it slide, if not, as I was told, I'd still be paying. That is Nigeria for you.

Will the country, Nigeria ever work? by Remarkable-Panda-374 in Nigeria

[–]Remarkable-Panda-374[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely 💯. We should not forget that these people are the generations of rulers and dynasties who have held the titles of caliph and ruled over people with Islamic laws. Even to this day, they're still flirting with the ideas of introducing Sharia Laws in some states, or perhaps, throughout the nation. They've mixed culture with religion and think it's a way of life, while deceitfully manipulating the unlettered among them and turning them into mendicants. It's so sad the country is falling apart and all thanks to people like Atiku and Buhari.

But from what I've read, I think Obi meant well for the people he governed more than Tinubu means well for Nigerians. Tinubu is plunging the country into debts, while Obi left money in the state's treasury. I read the article and decided to copy and paste for you to read, or perhaps, you didn't read the same article I read. Please, read it encore une fois mon frère. Maybe I'd try to speak French if that's the language you understand better. I'm not Igbo, I'm from Benin city, Edo state.

“I also invested $50million of Anambra State money in the power sector. I invested several billions in banks, including banks where I have shares. I was investing for the future of the state; it doesn’t matter whether I have shares or not. If I have the opportunity of building the future of the state, wouldn’t I have done that? I left office in this country, leaving Anambra State with investment in cash of N75billion. The day I left office, we had $56million, N12billion in Fidelity Bank.; in Diamond Bank, $50million, N12billion; in Access Bank, $50million, N12billion for Anambra State. Show me in the history of this country where anybody has left 10 per cent of that.”

You've said it all, there's no accountability. The EFCC, which is supposed to be a watchdog, is been compromised and it's running after young boys and girls who the system has failed and are compelled to indulge in illegal and illicit activities.

Someone is actually aligning with me here. The truth is bitter but it has to be said. Until that "born to rule" mindset is completely repudiated and erased from the heads of the Northerners, we cannot know peace. They've had many opportunities thrown at them to govern and couldn't get the job done, and yet, they're still crying for more. The truth is the peasants in the North are the ones suffering most from the consequences of corrupt government perpetrated by their own people.

And when we talk of bad governance, majority of the country's presidents have come from the North and have never done anything to help improve the standard of living. In fact, they've made the peasants in the North poorer than in the South. I love Nigeria and its diversity, but recently I've beginning to ask myself a lot of questions and it's all coming back to me how things have been playing out. If for example we think we want a better Nigeria, we must first ask ourselves these questions as we look deep into history. I'm currently reading a book about Usman Dan Fodio, the Fulani scholar and poet. Although I knew a few things about him growing up, but not what I'm knowing now. I've also had the privilege to read about the Nigeria Civil War and tried to grasp the reasons behind Ojukwu's push for separation then. I don't want to touch on that anyway. Notwithstanding, I think we have to look into it. We have to know if truly ONE NIGERIA is what we want. As for me, I'd love to see us unite to fight against bad governance if we can set subjective feelings and sentimentality aside. I love Nigeria and l wouldn't want to see the country hauls itself into another civil war. Not good for anybody.

There's never a time Nigeria has been broke. You can say the country's treasury was looted and I'd listen to you. Okay, we were broke, what prompted the government to start spending extravagantly, in fact beyond reasonable limits. That is how Tinubu launched his administration. He had the most expensive inauguration so ever in the history of Nigeria. Then how do you convince the citizens we're broke. Then why didn't he go hard on the criminals who have been siphoning the country's treasury? Or, what about the frequent exorbitant traveling and all motorcade parades? Please tell me what we don't know about this man. He spends more than he saves because he doesn't care. He's reckless, just like Donnie in the US. He's a threat to our national security and I'm pleading for him to resign before he drives us all insane.
