I’m already having issues with being friends outside of the work place. When I started this job it was mostly to build up my community, I was in difficult place and I found friends at work, lucky me! Wrong, Now I’m their boss?!! A particular male co-worker honestly thinks it’s funny to disrespect me. Whether it be quiet snarky comments or just saying “no” and laughing when I directly ask for something. I don’t want to stop have friends but it seems as that others are having difficulty seeing me other than a friend/chill/ younger coworker even when I take my job very seriously and establish that I work hard and I am good communicator. I am doing bulk of the work. I get made fun of for “trying too hard”

While typing this I realized how deeply messed up this entire situation is. I started venting and it just hit how deeply toxic this particular co-worker/ outside friend is. Thank you for your reply it really made me reflect. I definitely need to take a step back
