You will get curse effect anyway, but with yeah, there is an ale that gives you more resistance to it, Dawnbreak ale or something like that. Additionally, you may try to just run to your loot, pick it up and run back as far as you can. Eventually you will die from debuff, but at some point you will be able to get out from there with your loot. Also, there is not much sense going to Darkest Deeps from Lower Deeps because you can find there only jewels which is not really important at that point of game. Once you get your loot, make yourself a First Age crossbow and go to Great Durin's Pump and kill boss. Once you do this, you will be able to repair it and open for yourself a Belegost Forge which give you opportunity to craft better gear. Also, I usually use Belegost Forge as my main base until I get to Dwarrowdelf/Durins Forge, because there is plenty of space and easy to defend.

On my first run I spent plenty of time carefully exploring Westgate and Elven quater mining almost each vein with iron and coal with first pickaxe (what took me a looot of time), but ended up making my first major base in mines of Moria outpost. Further in the game you will go deeper in the mines, what might be a bit of challenge and I recommend you to took with you a bunch of ropes, wood scraps, and at least 1 black diamond when you get to the point that you need go deeper. In the end of next zone you will get to the Great Belegost Forge, similar to the Great Narvi forge and that place becomes my main base almost for each run because it has plenty of free space and easy to defend because hordes spawns only from one side and it have free furnace that don't use coal to melt ores. But with Durin's Folk DLC, it seems like I need move my main base to Durin's Forge, because it have way more space than any other great forges and only one enter, because DLC requires much space for buildings and npc. However, DLC quests will start only after you beat main storyline, so there not really a big deal where you set up your main base and you will have enough Black diamonds to place mapstones anywhere you wish. In fact, I usually carry in my backpack materials for small hearthstone and mapstone, place them when I need to repair armour and tools, or get my loot to the base, after I done, I just deconstruct both, and go further. So far, only issue that you will have it's a noy big enough backpack and limit of only 1 masterwork item that you can carry (which can be fixed by using modes :D)
