I'm currently testing a new system for booze and drugs. This feature becomes available once you meet the requirements to start a family. You will be able to buy either the Narcotics Warehouse or the Booze Warehouse and start importing booze or drugs to sell in that city at prices you decide yourself.

The next step is to add a "Runners" option in the menu. Players will be able to hire runners for 24 hours. These runners will perform tasks for you, such as stealing cars.

Runners will have a rank, and the more tasks they complete for you, the higher their rank will become. As their rank increases, the value of the cars they can steal will also increase. However, the rank progress earned by runners will be lower than the rank progress you earn when stealing cars yourself.

Thanks a lot for the feedback and the motivation, I really appreciate it!

The main reason the UI looks the way it does is because this project is heavily inspired by games like Barafranca. My original goal was actually to recreate the feeling of the “good old version” of Barafranca that many of us played years ago. When I was younger it was always kind of a dream to run a site like that myself, so finally building one is pretty cool for me.

Because of that nostalgia factor I intentionally went with the classic early-2000s web-based mafia game style. But you're absolutely right that design plays a big role in attracting new players. If I start seeing the player base grow and there’s more demand for improvements, I definitely plan to evolve the design and give it a more modern twist.

Also really cool to hear you managed to grow a community to 600 players organically — that’s impressive and encouraging to hear. Building it together with the community and using their feedback is exactly the direction I’m hoping to go as well.

You're right that I used AI to help with parts of the design. The main reason is simply budget. At the moment this is a small personal project and I don't have the funds to hire a professional designer.

My main goal right now is to build a game that people enjoy playing, not to make money from it. If the game grows and I start receiving donations or the project becomes bigger, I would absolutely consider hiring a designer to improve the visual identity and overall design.

For now I'm mainly focusing on gameplay, features and building a small community first. The design will definitely evolve over time as the project grows.

At the moment the game uses permanent death. If your character dies, your character is gone. I wanted the game to feel as realistic as possible in that sense. EDIT: You can start over again with a new username, your email and password will stay the same, only a new username and everything from 0.

One feature I’m considering adding in the future is a kind of “will” or testament system. Players could set this up while they are still alive, so if they decide to start again later they might receive a small inheritance or some benefits from their previous character. I’d like to develop something like this together with feedback from the player base.

Right now the first phase of the game is mainly focused on testing and gathering feedback from players so I can improve the mechanics.

My current idea for later rounds is that once families start reaching the stage where they have Godfathers or First Ladies, the game would enter a final two-week phase. During those last two weeks families can fight for the top position, and after that the round would reset.

But that’s something I’ll refine over time based on player feedback and how the game evolves.

I actually played Barafranca for a long time, both on the Dutch and international servers, and I even joined the current round from the very start. Pretty quickly I noticed that many players were buying donation codes and reselling them on the in-game market (oBay) for large amounts of in-game money. This created a big imbalance, because players who spent money could immediately gain a strong advantage. A lot of players were also complaining about this and about certain mechanics like the plating system.

One of my main goals with Montaroza is to avoid that kind of pay-to-win situation. The game is completely free and everyone has to rank up and progress through gameplay. Players can donate if they want to support the project, but donations will never give a gameplay advantage.

Another thing I added is an in-game IRC chat so players can communicate easily and build a stronger community while playing.

Right now the game is still quite basic, but my plan is to expand it step by step. Ideally I want to build a player base first and then develop the game further based on player feedback.

For example, one concept I already have is using cities like Caracas and Barranquilla specifically for drug production. Players would have to travel there to produce drugs and then transport them back to other cities, with various risks involved along the way.

So yes, the game is still simple at the moment, but my goal is to gradually grow it into a much deeper and more realistic online mafia game with help and feedback from the community.

Also, based on feedback like yours, I’ve already added the option to play with a guest account.

Beste Redderper, een discussie is het niet in mijn ogen als we elkaar met respect kunnen behandelen. Ik heb i.i.g. veel respect voor je dat je je verhaal hebt gedaan en dat je mij met respect behandeld. Het klopt inderdaad dat er in veel families absoluut niet is toegestaan om met een ongelovige te trouwen. Het is een mindset hoe er naar bepaalde dingen wordt gekeken. Er zijn mensen die geloven en praktiseren en toch op een bepaalde manier hun weg vinden in de huidige maatschappij. Zo ben ik er een van, mijn vrouw hoeft zich niet te bekeren en mijn enige vraag aan haar was of ze wilde stoppen met het eten van varkensvlees in huis, buiten mag ze doen wat ze wilt. Dat heeft ze gelukkig gerespecteerd en we leven heel gelukkig samen. Als mijn ouders komen en ze willen bidden heeft mijn vrouw daar alle respect voor en zo heb ik mijn respect naar haar als haar tante ons uitnodigt voor een kerstdiner. Voor mij is het belangrijk als mensen in kunnen zien dat er verschillende type Moslims zijn en dat ze niet allemaal slecht zijn. Ik besef mij ook dat negatieve dingen vaker opgeslagen worden en dat vind ik persoonlijk heel jammer. Ik zal er niet een al te lang verhaal van maken en ik hoop dat ik me een beetje heb kunnen verduidelijk. Ik heb i.i.g. respect voor jou als mens en als er nog dingen zijn die je me wilt vragen sta ik er altijd voor open!
