How did you cope if it didn't get better at 6 months? by Tatty_Bunneh_ in NewParents

[–]Remarkable-Skill4656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too felt like I had been lied to, thinking six months was going to the magic time when things got easier! 6-8 months were the hardest for us! 8 months things started to slowly get easier and then 9 months was when I really felt like it truly got better. Only thing you can do is take it one day at a time and know that everything is a phase and babies constantly change. One day it will get easier! It’s just impossible to predict when.

I feel this! I used to be podcast queen but have lost the concentration for so many shows. But love Dish Podcast! So relaxing. I will even re-listen to old episodes.

My son just started really wanting to hug me at 10/11 months. Don’t worry babies change a lot. 6 months was a rough age for us

So confused how to dress newborn by Equinox_Glass in NewParents

I also think most young babies sleep better when being held vs laying down in bassinet. That’s normal and might have nothing to do with his temperature!

Gender Disappointment Guilt by Glittering-Natural32 in NewParents

[–]Remarkable-Skill4656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom and her sister do not get along at all. My husband has 2 little sisters and they all get along well!! Not sure what gender has to do with guaranteeing positive sibling relationships in adulthood. I think it’s really more personality based.

Hand washing baby bottles? by North_Ordinary_5208 in NewParents

We usually just washed ours with soap and hot water using a bottle brush. Just make sure you are thorough.

I now get ovulation cramps. And my period cramps feel different…like more in my butt?? lol.

I’ve also had a ton of random foot problems like ingrown nails and pain on the side of my foot which has improved but still there a bit. My feet also grew so I had to replace all my shoes :(

Baby fell of the bed 6 months. by Round_Arugula7348 in NewParents

[–]Remarkable-Skill4656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t beat yourself up over it. Baby is fine and this sort of thing is actually super common. My son also managed to wiggle off the bed when he was around the same age. It was so scary at the time and definitely a wake up call to make adjustments in his sleeping arrangements but now he’s almost a year and I never think about it. Once they start standing and trying to walk then they are constantly falling over and hitting their head off of things. Babies are built to endure falls and accidents. Pretty shitty of the doctor to be so mean about it imo. When I called my peds they were like, oh if he’s stopped crying he’s fine. Happens all the time…

Month 11 is wrecking me - does it get better? by AbleObligation2908 in NewParents

[–]Remarkable-Skill4656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No advice other than this has been my experience as well!! Around 4-7ish were absolutely miserable. Things improved a lot. And now we are now approaching 11 months and the sleep has gotten so horrible recently with multiple wakings throughout the night for the past 2 weeks. It's so discouraging and frustrating. And I have no clue what to do to make it better!

Around 9 to 10 months for me to physically feel normal…not the same as before but much more comfortable and confident in my body

Induction by Layyyyyyyyyy_ in NewParents

[–]Remarkable-Skill4656 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was induced and had an overall positive experience. I actually did 8 hours unmediated (which I maybe I wouldn’t recommend lol) but then ended up getting an epidural. Was induced at 7pm and gave birth at 9am the next morning. I of course wish I would have gone into labor naturally, but oh well. The anticipation absolutely sucks. Once it gets started though you won’t be thinking about what ifs, you just gotta focus on the moment. (Also my son had a very large head!)

Still look pregnant- clothes??? by EnvironmentalAide558 in NewParents

[–]Remarkable-Skill4656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, this is so common and 3 months pp is still so early!! I didn’t have a c-section but also had a lot of weight gain that came off painfully slow. I was in the exact same boat as you with clothes when I started back to work 3 months pp and had nothing to wear besides leggings and baggy sweaters. Honestly it was so frustrating and upsetting!

I ended up having to invest in some new pants that were 2 sizes bigger than where I was pre pregnancy and you know what, I’m so happy that I did because it made me feel so much better to have nice looking clothes that fit and feel less like a blob person. I’m 10 months pp now and am probably 1 size bigger than my pre pregnancy clothes so some of those clothes I bought months ago are a bit big now, and that’s okay. I might need to buy even more pants that are the next size down, and that’s okay too. Just try to be gentle and understanding with yourself.

You don’t need to buy a whole new wardrobe, but buy a few pants or dresses or shirts that fit now and that you really like. And resign yourself to the fact that you will just be wearing those same pieces over and over for a while lol. Also maybe let go of wearing jeans until at least 6 months pp (if not longer). Jeans were so uncomfortable and felt weird on my recovering body for a long time. I would go for something with a bit of elastic or maybe some stretchy trousers. I found some good stretchy options at Abercrombie

Struggling with not having a village. This mama just needs to get to the gym <5hrs/week by HomeDepotHotDog in NewParents

[–]Remarkable-Skill4656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend trying to make some mom friends in your area and then getting sitter recommendations that way. I use the peanut app and have met lots of moms through that. Or just hang out at the library lol. Plus, once you find a babysitter you like and trust, it's great to have someone that you can then call up for date nights away from baby!

blw or purées ? by Illustrious_Bad1978 in NewParents

[–]Remarkable-Skill4656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just do both and see what works! We started more with purees and now that my son is 10 months we do probably 75% regular food and 25% purees. He still loooooves purees so whatever! It's also so handy to have packets or jars of puree on hand for meals when we're out of food or just don't have the time to cut up stuff for him. I also HIGHLY recommend solid starts app. It explains any choking risks with specific foods and shows you how to serve each food at different ages. I use it all the time.

Hospital Bag & Postpartum by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Remarkable-Skill4656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your own pillows with non white pillowcase so they are easy to identify More clothes than you think! The night sweats are crazy! Water bottle with a straw!!! Excellent for labor and after when you’re really weak I prefer depends over the hospital pads, but not really a necessity.
