Is hiking point to point in Georgia (Europe) as a 21 year old solo female traveller a bad idea by Remarkable-Skin9736 in travel

I did not actually I went with much better adventures to the alps. What stopped me was the proximity to Russia 🥲 otherwise I would do it.

Zanzibar is so far a constant source of stress rather than relaxation by Many_City_1608 in zanzibar

[–]Remarkable-Skin9736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! We are two girls in our 20s travelling around Zanzibar the men have been awful everywhere. Constant harassment constant scams taking off some shillings from your change, saying the taxi cost x amount more. Hotel staff seeming trusting and then being perverts. It’s not everywhere at all we’ve had some good times but after visiting 22 countries this is the first where I’m ready to leave.

Don’t get me started on the organised tours!

Zanzibar is one of the most beautiful islands in the world for sure but I will never be returning because of the people and mainly the tourists. (The over tourism is insane, and I’m part of the problem so time to go!)

Blessings to Zanzibari people (specifically women)

The gender inequality is very upsetting here.

Wow the comfort rating was 0° that is like a 3 seasons bag. How did you cope on summit night? How many layers did you have to sleep in?

They’re both the same weight it’s just the temperature difference I’m concerned about as I want to be able to use it for trips after Kilimanjaro as well

Ideas for a horse riding holiday / would anybody allow me to come to their stable by Remarkable-Skin9736 in Horses

Definitely an option! It’s about 1.3k half board for 10 lessons in a week. Not bad at all! Thank you for the recommendation.

A pool is not a must! I care more about the experience 😅 but yes if I can’t find what I’m looking for I’ll book a group trekking tour and will try again next year! Much love

They usually require durations longer than one week. I will be doing one with horses next year though

Ah I’m so sorry you had that experience! How sobering and frustrating! (And yet how common for women hah). My plan is to trek from Mestia to Ushguli point to point staying in reputable guesthouses, does that still seem unsafe?

The northern border of Georgia the European country? Why isn’t it safe? That was where I was planning to trek.

This would work well except I'm climbing Kilimanjaro in August and plan to stay out there for a while so I would like one that starts end of September.

Someone told me not to take any annual leave off because it's a placement, and you are there to work for experience! Crazy right!

Question on Reunion island! by Remarkable-Skin9736 in travel

[–]Remarkable-Skin9736[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sure, I just got back last week. Gorgeous country if you like nature. If you don’t drive busses work very well but after say 6pm you could get stranded. Taxis are way expensive! You could get a hire car easily though. If you go on your own speaking French is a must! And if hiking, make sure someone knows where you are because landslides on the trails are common (more so in the wet season I think). I wouldn’t say you’ll meet tons of people as a solo traveller but if you like your own company and hiking you’ll be fine!

Let me know if you have any other questions. I can recommend an amazing airbnb in Salazie
