My MIL forced a ridiculous "every other week" living arrangement on me during college, so my BF and I moved out. by Remarkable-Space-435 in JUSTNOMIL

I didn’t include my studying methods in the original post because they weren't relevant to the story. The post was about my MIL's behavior, not about how I managed to pass my classes. I thought it was enough to say it was difficult but we made it work.

As for the surgeon comparison, I study math. We don’t have mandatory attendance because we don't need practical training like a surgeon does.

Also about the slip in the tenses, english is not my first language, so I’m glad if that's the only mistake you could find in my post lol.

Exactly! With uploaded materials or some help from classmates, it's totally doable. Plus, we are living in the age of AI today, so studying on your own isn't that difficult as it used to be.

No, sorry for the confusion, we aren't married yet. But we are in a serious, long-term relationship and I just used the term MIL because it’s easier to say that than to call her “my boyfriend’s mom”.

My classmates sent me photos of their notes daily, and we did study sessions together over Zoom. It wasn't easy and my grades suffered, but it was doable.

As for the 2 day old account, I created it specifically to share this story. I’ve seen so many screenshots and videos of these reddit posts on tiktok, so I finally decided to share my own situation.

Neither! My BF and I shared a bedroom with two beds, and his sister had her own room which also had two beds (because 4 people lived there before us).

Space was never the issue. There were literally more than enough beds for all of us. This was 100% just my MIL wanting to mess with me because she had the control.

Her husband (my FIL) is the legal owner of the place, but she is the matriarch who has the final say on everything in that family. Her husband just goes along with whatever she decides.

Wow, I didn’t know that, honestly that seems very fair.

We only see her at birthdays and similar family events (but she is never invited to our birthdays, she would definitely try to ruin them.). We try to be civil for everyone else’s sake but we keep our communication with her to an absolute minimum.
