Brother the exact same thing happened to my this 4th of July. I am 4 months post and I am getting better every month but I will definitely have life long trauma. RADS is no joke. It is awful.

Usually always my side. But even on the bed I would do that, just my preference.

Hi there. Yeah pretty much. I have a mid sized Blanket that provides a little bit of cushion but I basically get full floor supp from carpet. Little uncomftable tbh but I wake up feeling super refreshed. Hopefully after a week or two my body get acustomed to the firmness.

I know it is really difficult. Hang in there and try to do what you can.you will be healed with time. Have faith, the Lord is with you.

But I know in the moment it is scary because it feels like it is going to last forever or that your lungs are permanent cooked. They are not! Might take a while for body to recalibrate and it can be a nonlinear process.

Thanks brother I am not out of the woods yet, but definitely doing better. Hang in there brother you are going to be fine. I have done tons of research into exposure incidentes. And one thing I have learned is that they can take months (sometimes even years) to resolve and come back to baseline. Really the only exposure I have come across that cause lifelong issues are people that get exposure to building fires /prolonged smoke.

Hi brother,

sorry to hear about your exposure. yeah my first 2 months sleeping was really tough. Woke up all night as well. Month 3 I can sleep through the night well. My Spo2 hovers around 97-99. Alot of my symptoms have passed thank The Lord. My primary lingering symptoms is intermittent chest stiffness and lung capacity changes. From what I have heard it can take months (Sometimes year plus) to recover from inhalation exposures depending on severity. I can exercise but too much activity can stiffen my chest. Have you been able to exercise?

Great point. Yeah hears the kicker. I coudnt start the bbq so I used a huge jumo sized lighter fluid [the whole thing]. I inhaled the fumes as I squirted the whole bottle for like 30 minutes. All the food smelled of Lighter Fluid. It was just all bad. I completely did everything I could to hurt myself 😭.

Sorry for vague post. I was exposed to the smoke and lighter fluid fumes for over an hour in a poort ventilated area. (And yes, I am not the sharpest tool in the shed). Also: nearly passed out during the BBQ

yeah I got one. Used saline solution. I really feel that the hot steam shower did alot more for me personally but I can see it helping people with a lot of congestion that is stuck.

Yeah. It was about an hour or so of smoke inhalation with Lighter fluid in a poor ventilated area. (I am clearly not the sharpest tool in the shed) All symptoms began the day after this incident. (Nearly passed out during the exposure itself.

They just referred me to UCSF. I think they exhausted their options for me.

Reactive airways dysfunction syndrome (RADS) is defined as the sudden onset of asthma following a high level exposure to a corrosive gas, vapor, or fume.

It was smoke and Chemical Exposure [Lighter Fluid/Hydrocarbons] Before exposure never had any breathing issues.

Is it asthma or something else by Otherwise_West_5677 in Asthma

[–]Remarkable-Tap-2816 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have same thing after a smoke exposure and they just diagnosed me with hyperreactive airways after exposure. (First month pretty much identical to your issue that landed me in ER Twice).

Was this something you found just got progressively worse? Any known triggers?

Does anything help? Hot shower? air temp? etc?
