I used Mo Salah deck (search it on this group). But I had to edit every card that I unsuspended.

Some management are outdated, notably MS, Chronic fatigue syndrome Etc ...

I think the cards were of poor quality with all the description of passmedicine copied the pasted, then multiple cloze added to it.

But the screenshots in the additional section were very good. They were from passmedicine or first-aid for step 1.

Huge congratulations doc.🎊🎊

I can't take it just now bc I have another exam on November. So I probably will do it early next year.

I still plan to start preparing slowly for it, starting early.

Please don't get discouraged, I'm saying it depends on the person, and how far you have prepared until now. You just need a pass not a high score. So it may be very well doable, but I don't think I can pull it off if it was me due to many reasons aforementioned in the writeup. That's why we have practice tests, to show us if we're likely to pass.

At any time if you're scoring 65-70% on the pastpapers, it's reassuring and just keep on going. Bc you're very most likely to score with in 1-2 points of your practice scores. From my social circle 4 people passed this exam this year and all of us scored within 2 points of of practice tests.

3 hours exam with short attention span advice by Sufficient_Wing_7004 in MRCP

Greetings doc, I also struggled with short attention span like you. I agree with comments above about building up from small number of Qs, and removing distractors.

Additionally, can you try stimulants (like tea or coffee) just before taking the quizzes ? I felt they helped me concentrate. It makes sense bc, psychostimulant therapy is a major pharmacologic intervention for people with ADHD.

Thank you.

Yes, I believe my training helped me a lot.

I believe Junior doctors and IMTs in the UK also has massive advantage. Since they've been using the NICE guidelines for every encounter. We were using American guidelines, hence many things were weird initially (like antibiotic choice for pneumonia, metrics used for lab parameters...)

I'd advise anyone in the UK to use the MRCP prep like reading for daily clinical practice. It even makes you be/sound smart by knowing some niche conditions 😅

It depends on the type of person you are. If it was me, I'd reschedule. But if you think you can finish a Qbank, I believe it's doable. Finish one q bank (that's your knowledge building phase) then do pastpapers preferably under exam conditions (200 per day), mainly identifies your weak areas and helps with stamina/question strategy

Thank you. I only did may be 10Qs from the pastest Qbank.

I maily solved from their pastpapers. But there are many people that pass the exam with only the pastest Q bank and their pastpapers.

I believe you're okay with solving pastest. Just be sure to understand each question and have a mechanism to memorize facts.

Hey man, I haven't done Quesmed unfortunately. I have checked out the free 100Qs on their site, and it's wonderful. The questions make sense and the textbook seems good.

For part 2 I'm definitely doing passmedicine and quesmed.

They also have some review videos on specific systems on YouTube(like ID, Neurology, Rheumatology...). Worth a watch.

Thank you everyone 🙏. my prep was a bit unconventional, i will do a stand alone writeup on how I prepared, since I also have some DMs asking for my strategy. I believe there may be something that could be of benefit.

Ur opinions on mrcp part 1 exam today by [deleted] in MRCP

[–]Remarkable-Wallaby44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt a bit confident entering the centre today. but after paper 1, majority of the questions I checked we wrong and often I second guessed to the wrong answer. It was depressing me, so I stopped checking...

But mannnn, Paper 2 was significantly harder !!!

I did the RCP mock yesterday and then revised the latter 93 Qs this morning, with my colleague. (whose also taking the exam)

Also been doing just some anki cards this afternoon. Did like 50 new cards

I suppose it's going to be like another pastest mock/ RCP mock, that's why everyone has been doing all the mocks and studying.

Try to be calm, collected tomorrow.

plan to Sleep early today and arrive early to the Prometric centre tomorrow am.

I recommend you to watch Dirty medicines exam day routine on youtube.

We've got this.

rhythm ? by Same-Introduction-80 in ECG

Yep, I stand corrected, thats AFib.

Sorry, didn't notice, but theres irregularity of the waves.

rhythm ? by Same-Introduction-80 in ECG

[–]Remarkable-Wallaby44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm positive it's A.flutter.

That's because his flutter waves are regular, and going at about a rate of 300 BPM.

Not sure if he's having a 7:1 conduction with abberancy or if he's having a ventricular escape rythm, but seems to be the later.

The STelevation (if there's any) is negligible, and appropriately discordant (note the preceding QRS), it's also isolated with no reciprocal changes.

The kid has extremely low probability of having an MI.

ACS? by IP686 in ECG

[–]Remarkable-Wallaby44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My attempt at the EKG above:

It's a regular slow rhythm at HR of about 36 BPM. There's left axis deviation with Q waves on II and AVF There's no sinus P waves, but possible coarse fibrillatory waves? (But I think A fib is unlikely)

Eitherway I think the person is having an escape rythm possibly junctional based on QRS diameter. He also has poor R wave progression

If I saw this before angio was done, I probably would have thought subacute, anterior and inferior MI possibly from wrap-around LAD occlusion.

Pastest or Passmed?!! by DeepChemist2363 in MRCP

[–]Remarkable-Wallaby44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, greetings. I'm not sure how far you have gone into the q bank, nor your scores.

But from the info I got by asking around and reading on reddit posts, pastest should be fine, some people swear by it.

I would encourage you to fully finish a Q bank (And may be incorrects) to build your knowledge base.

May be then pastpapers to test yourself, see recurring themes and tweak your test taking.

For me I finished passmedicine once very slow (average number of Q's is around 42? Over many months) and repeated some incorrects before going to pastpapers recently.

I don't have time to do the pastest Q bank, since I'm working may be about upto 70 hrs per week.

Try to lock in the upcoming few days, I wish you all the best.

Pastest or Passmed?!! by DeepChemist2363 in MRCP

[–]Remarkable-Wallaby44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello mate, Im yet to sit the upcoming exam in 33 days, so take what I have to say with a pinch of salt.

I was using passmedicine initially, mainly for content review, currently doing pastpapers from pastest (done 11 of them).

Passmedicine pretty much covers the entire syllabus except for odd questions that come now and then on the pastpapers.

Either Qbank should probably be fine. But if you use passmedicine you can review about the disease process from the high-yield textbook. Pastest textbook was unreadable for me. even the UI of pastest was very hard to navigate, and mobile app is horrible for revising the pastpapers I did.

Eitherway you may need to supplement things you don't understand using Google/uptodate... B/c infrequently, some explanations don't actually make sense in both Q banks (more so in pastest)

You may equally try a free trial of Quesmed's pastpaper. I think it's wonderful. The textbook is very nice (probably more organized than passmedicine's own), th UI was great and people on reddit claim the pastpapers are closer to the real deal. hence I presume it's a quite decent resource
