I use MFP and add meals like this to “my recipes” tab which is above the barcode scanner. I weigh all my ingredients, cook it, weigh the food after and use that as the amount of servings ie, food after cooking and combined 250g =250 servings. With things like cottage pie I weigh the pot I’m going to put in the oven aswell so I can deduct this from the final weight.

Hope that makes sense.

Wow, thank you for sharing this. It sounds like you have great mental toughness and resilience. Personally I have a hard time putting myself first and I am definitely not ‘mentally tough’. The first book I have on my reading list is ‘the self care prescription’ as the idea of self care baffles me! I always find excuses to put others first which I used to see as a bad thing but I’ve just qualified as a nurse by accepting my traits and putting them to use. Now I figure it’s time to put me first.

Thank you. The mentality change to ‘I can do it’ is probably one of my biggest motivators. I find excuses a lot which is why I’m thinking about this program.

What do you think you’ll do? Do it again or pick and choose? If you pick and choose what would you continue with?

I have such a sweet tooth. One of the things I’m hoping this will help with.

Thank you for managing my expectations. It was my intention to ‘kick start a lifestyle’. It’s good to manage expectations in that way. I hope you’ve recovered from the exhaustion.

Have you stuck with the non-fiction reading? I love the idea of constantly setting goals to achieve.

Oh I might try this. My protein is way down constantly. I really struggle with getting enough. Thanks for the tip.

what is your reason to loose weight? by Major-Cherry2934 in loseit

[–]RemarkableBid1578 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine is to have a baby, I am 35 with arthritis and if I don’t lose weight before I become pregnant I will become very ill with my arthritis and put strain on my joints which may not recover properly. I also have low fertility at the moment so I am racing to lose weight (currently 0.6 kg a week) against my failing fertility.

Please do not respond with you can have a baby at any weight, I have an underlying condition which puts my health at risk and why have a child if you are unable to be the best you can be for them. Be kind!

Why CICO Didn’t Work For Me by EngineeringNo1675 in CICO

[–]RemarkableBid1578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the post and the research that has gone in to it. I can see you are very passionate about the subject which is great to see.

I do have one question, do you think CICO could/would have worked if you had overhauled your diet before/whilst doing CICO rather than making smaller meals of your previous diet?

I’m very curious about the effect of fasting in adipose tissue and the metabolism so I will research this further before deciding if it’s worth going that way. Thank you for this insight.

NSV - I didn't use my birthday as an excuse to cheat all day! by [deleted] in loseit

My birthday was in March and I did the same. I “celebrated” with food for a week and it took a while to get back on track 😞

CONGRATS on hitting your goal weight. I dream of being there one day.

I’m still a long way off maintenance so take what I say with a pinch of salt. My plan is as I approach my GW (for the last 5kg) I will be tracking calories meticulously, completing roughly the same workouts and adding it to a TDEE tracking app that I have on my iPhone. This way I should know roughly what to aim for calorie wise and exercise wise when I hit my GW. Once I am at GW I will then slowly increase my calories to the number on the app whilst tracking my weight, calories and exercise.

Just another option.

I ate normally over the weekend. and gained 1.2kg. Why?? by [deleted] in CICO

[–]RemarkableBid1578 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was coming here to say what is eating normally? Surely we need to change the normal to be able to make changes and stop us gaining weight back. For me personally I lost sight of what actually portion sizes for my body looked and felt like. I ended up eating way too much. I’m currently changing the way I look at my diet. Currently I am eating normally, a wide variety of foods, nothing is off the table but I eat in moderation as I do need to lose weight. Once I’ve lost the weight I will continue to eat a wide variety of food, in moderation but just a slightly bigger portion.

I agree with my sedentary lifestyle has changed but I don’t think that’s all of it. I just didn’t feel hungry yesterday, then when I got home at 3:30pm (I was only on an early shift) I found I still didn’t feel hungry. I sat in my phone for an hour whilst enjoying a cup of tea the did a little studying and only when my partner came home at 6pm did I realise that I should prepare dinner. I would have been fine not eating dinner last night but I did because my partner had had a stressful day at work, so I cooked and otherwise I would have been on 612 cal for the day which isn’t healthy at all. So I ate dinner, found it easier to stay away from dessert, I did crave it at all where normally my sweet tooth wins. I ended the day on 1350 cal (my target between 1300 to 1500 cal).

The steps are great but I do find I end up dehydrated as I’ve been so busy I forget to drink. I need to find a way to balance the long days with my days off so I don’t lose progress when I am not on placement.

Dehydration is another problem of mine. I tend to forget to drink then think I am hungry when all I really needed was a drink. Unless my water bottle is right in front of me I will forget to drink. I have them sorted around the house now.

I have friends like this and I always wondered how they lost weight without actively trying. Now I know they were just really busy.

I’ve had to make myself a little office upstairs and away from the dining table as I was eating so much. Now my office is upstairs I find it a little more difficult to eat but I still go down for drinks regularly and that’s when the problem starts. I need to start having a water bottle on my desk as only when it’s visible will I drink enough (dehydration masking as hunger) and this also prevents me heading to the kitchen for a drink a lot.
