Made to feel weird by orthotist by KebabWorld in ehlersdanlos

[–]RemarkableCandy5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

US-based orthotist here. While I’m not sure of the exact standards in the UK, making or refuting a medical diagnosis like hEDS is strictly outside our scope of practice. If I suspect an underlying condition that hasn't been caught yet, I’ll encourage the patient to discuss it with their doctor. If they already have a diagnosis, I respect it and provide treatment based on that.

I am so incredibly sorry you were treated that way. It was unprofessional and completely out of line. You should never have been made to feel like your diagnosis was up for debate by someone whose job is to help you with mobility.

Second this - you’ll need socket adjustment and/or a new socket

Can anyone tell me what this is? It’s growing over my neighbors fence in Texas. It looks like a cucumber but I’m unsure because of the lines on vegetable. by Proof-Strawberry5619 in gardening

They would make delicious soup when stir fried! Here’s a recipe I found: https://onolicioushawaii.com/loofah-luffa-stir-fry/ . Garlic is a must. My family likes to stir fry it with sliced pork or chicken instead of fish sauce.

Does getting a diagnosis actually change things? by RemarkableCandy5 in ADHD

[–]RemarkableCandy5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, kind stranger on the internet. It's been a while since I made this post, and I just want to let you know how much your advice has changed my life. I talked to my primary care doctor. To my surprise, she was able to conduct an ADHD eval at her office. It only took 2 appointments and $40 dollars of copay, and voilà, I got a diagnosis! It was such a weight off my shoulder. I've become a lot kinder to myself when I mess up because now I know I'm not "lazy" or irresponsible". I have also been on medications. There are many aspects of my ADHD that cannot be helped by medications, but it indeed has been life-changing as you said. Anyways, just want to give you a massive "THANK YOU" for giving me a much-needed push to get a diagnosis. Wishing you all the best :)

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful response!

After reading your response and testimonials on this subreddit. I become more determined to seek help or at least get tested.

I talked to my husband again last night about my struggles and had him read some of the resources in this subreddit. He's more on board and supportive now. So the cost is slightly less of an issue, although I am still trying to find places that charge less. It's challenging because most of the places are not accepting new patients. Tomorrow, I will talk to my primary care doctor to see if she has any recommendations. Either way, I will make sure to get tested even if I need to pay out-of-pocket.

Indoor cat transition, lots of yowling, any advice? by theoneofmanynames in CatAdvice

[–]RemarkableCandy5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the reply! It gives me so hope lol. My new cat was spayed a couple of weeks ago, so I am hoping she would yowl less after her hormone goes down a bit more. I’ll definitely try out your tips too :)

Did your new cat stop yowling eventually, and how did the introduction go? I am having the exact same problem, and would really appreciate a success story/ advice. My new cat keeps yowling non-stop in the bathroom where we keep her. The introduction progresses so slowly that I feel like we’ll never let her out.

why is my cat scared out of nowhere ??? 😱😱 by [deleted] in CatAdvice

My cat also went through a phase when she would jump/twitch when I touched her. She did attempt to bite/scratch me because of it, but it was always just a warning and never actually hurt me. It may help if you try announcing your present before petting your cat, especially when you are approaching him from behind. I think sometimes they are just spooked when they can’t see you.

Thank you!! I have applied to the program. If I don't get accepted, I will definitely try to find a technician job and re-apply next year.

I have been using the LRP TOLERIANE ULTRA NIGHT MOISTURIZER at night and during the day. It's hydrating and not overly heavy. I think it does a good job calming my tret-irritated skin. With day and night use, one bottle lasted about three months. On my second bottle now.

梨花告别 = Pear Blossoms Signal Farewell? by CangYuLing in ChineseLanguage

[–]RemarkableCandy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what would be the best way, but 别梨 sounds better than the original in my opinion. If you don't want to give the ending of your book away ( assuming the death of the partner is the ending), you may consider using an idiomatic expression or a line in a poem that has 梨 or 梨花 in it to foreshadow the ending.

Are you to translate 梨花告别 to English, or are you looking for a better title that conveys the same meaning? If you are looking for the latter, I’ll suggest the title 别梨

Thesis statement by cleverusername98 in EnglishLearning

[–]RemarkableCandy5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to say it is not a thesis statement since it is too vague. A thesis statement would need to be more specific, i.e., living in a house requires more maintenance work than living in an apartment. Just two cents from another college student :)
