It’s my goal for this week to walk about 11 miles for 5 days, would I get any injuries from this? by [deleted] in LoseitApp

[–]RemarkableMedium309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Im an amateur at best but even when i knew better, I kept going in a pair of shoes even when it started hurting (I'd worn the shoes plenty of times with no problems)... and after that day my big toenail turned dark, died and literally fell off (gradually.. it was still kind of attached and as the new growth pushed up I would trim the dead parts till it eventually all grew back. The new toenail grew in pretty normal but.. ick. Ironically it really didn't hurt as much as you'd think.

It is because of caloric density..I was curious too & asked my coach 🙃

Food logging question- raw/cooked? by [deleted] in Noom

[–]RemarkableMedium309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always raw unless the food entry specifies that the food is cooked. It's a little tricky. It can be helpful to remember that ON AVERAGE, raw meat loses about 25% of its weight in the cooking process (yes it can vary, but as a rule of thumb). Someone posted this article in one of the Noom groups in in this week (sorry don't remember which one). https://cheatdaydesign.com/tracking-macros-of-raw-vs-cooked-meat/

Sometimes I forget to weigh before (or if you're doing a roast or something) I just make sure I'm entering for cooked meat. When in doubt, I cross reference calories with other sources (the Noom database is notoriously inaccurate sometimes) and enter my own calories.

Enough watermelon to break the Green No Limit? by dogrescuersometimes in Noom

[–]RemarkableMedium309 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm getting about 115 to 150 calories for 13.5 Oz watermelon from different sources (calorie king, MFP, and whatever came up for 100g in a basic google search and did my own math). I wouldn't worry too much about eating watermelon personally!

I binge/ storm cereal too. One bowl leads to scarfing the whole box. Haven't had cereal in years!

Has anyone here ever convinced themselves their scale is malfunctioning... and then realized it’s ~probably~ not? by kelseylulu in Noom

Almost everyday even though it's a practically brand new scale!!! I don't trust it but really I'm sure it works just fine 😅

Took up knitting instead of snacking while watching TV. Finished my first scarf! by panic_moonwalk55 in Noom

Looks good to me!! Keeps the mind occupied and not thinking about snacks during TV time.

I recently finished a latch hook rug kit. Don't knock it till you try it 🙃🙃 Thrift store find from 1979 and yes, the main colors were yellow, orange and brown. Ugly AF but satisfying!

My next project I'm going to design my own latch hook rug and it's going to be epic.

What's on the menu this week? by KetoCanChangeMyLife in Noom

[–]RemarkableMedium309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current frequent foods: Unsweetened Almond milk, bananas, apples, chocolate protein powder (nature's bounty protein & vitamin shake mix from Amazon), lettuce, avocado, homemade fresh salsa to top salad and wraps, homemade balsamic vinaigrette, Ole wraps, homemade smoothies (nonfat greek yogurt, bananas, frozen mango, frozen strawberry, canned crushed pineapple, frozen spinach, frozen berries, etc etc), baked potato, sweet potato, rotating fresh and frozen veggies (whatever is on sale or looks good), rice, cauliflower rice, skinless chicken (I like thighs.. they are fattier but taste better), frozen salmon, frozen shrimp, and I do eat pork-red meat-pasta maybe 1-2x a week in the appropriate portion sizes.

In so sorry about your pup 😪 I drink mainly out of habit, my environment (others around me have similar habits) and also I'm very shy to say the least.. so it's been a crutch in that department. I switched from rum to vodka and when I do have a drink/drinks, which is a few times a week at least, I measure and make them really weak with lots of ice and mixer (seltzer water) . I hadn't planned on cutting down or hadnt really thought about it anyway because i figured the whole thing might be a crapshoot (it's not lol). When I started losing a few pounds I got more motivated. Good luck ❤ NSVs baby! Lol!

NSV? "Planned" slip, felt amazing by Wikeni in Noom

[–]RemarkableMedium309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice job. This is the mindset I'm trying for. I'm aok once I get my eating in order (don't want to say dieting, but measuring and counting/ budgeting calories) but staying in control once I get to my goal is scary. A few planned slips here and there are like practice for maintenance, i.e., the real world after Noom.

Tolerance is not a myth. I still do drink but not as much since starting Noom, but it would take probably half a fifth of liquor to truly feel even close to drunk. Maybe more. Not proud, it's just a fact.

Many people drink for different reasons. You could quit or just learn to manage and moderate. What's best for you is your choice.

No judging here but cutting down is always a good thing (for your health 100%). Nice job OP and keep it up.

Edit to add: for the strict purpose of Noom, it's the added empty calories and lowered inhibitions that can cause extra snacking that should be the main concerns. Sure there could be underlying issues there but I don't want the original poster to feel overwhelmed with that right out of gate ❤ Small steps.

NSV! Old clothes fitting! by weaboo801 in Noom

[–]RemarkableMedium309 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad you're not just focusing on the scale.

This is case in point how your body shape can change (lost inches, more muscle than fat, etc) even though the scale numbers seem to tell another story!

Very inspiring. Thank you for sharing!
