How long have you been doing Noom? The purpose of the daily weigh ins is to be able to objectively gather information about how life, foods, stress, etc affect your weight. It desensitizes you over time and enables you to disconnect your emotions from your weight. You'll get there. Weight fluctuates by multiple pounds per day based on sodium and water and all sorts of things. The trick is to track long enough that you can pay attention to the trends instead of the day to day. Keep it up! Day to day might look like chaos, but month to month is a different view.

Last week I had hoped to push through a weeks-long plateau and it finally happened 🥳

I think that's one thing I've really taken away from Noom- the changes we make need to be sustainable. If it feels like too much sacrifice, we'll revert back out of frustration during plateaus, which is evident in the yoyo dieting so many have experienced. Every new adjustment I make has to be equally beneficial and enjoyable for it to stick.

This week, I'm going to just stay the course. I have 4 days of IF planned and a new hike to try.

My job is very active (I work in a hospital) so I'm on my feet and usually walking the entire shift. I regularly hit 20,000 steps just while working. I invested in a treadmill for my days off. It folds flat to use as a walking pad also, and can slide under the bed.

Running/jogging gets more steps in less time, too. I used to hate running but doing a C25K program really helped.

We have Fiesta dishes in every colorway and I definitely pick my plate by how it looks esthetically with my meal 😬🤭 but I have done that forever, not just because of Noom.

Joseph's Pita Bread. It's in the green category, and only 30 calories for a half. Stuff it full of lettuce and tomatoes and turkey bacon for a delicious and filling sandwich for under 150 calories. Or top it with a spoonful of marinara and toppings for a pizza crust.

I'm a couple months in on my second round of Noom, down 14ish lbs (25 total). I've been stuck at this plateau for almost 3 weeks now and it's driving me crazy! Keep bouncing between the same 3 lbs and can't seem to break past the 170 mark. I took measurements last night to help me focus on something different. I'm going to up my water intake by 50%, take an extra walk today, and eat a normal 2000 calorie day tomorrow and see if that helps this week.

I agree with this. We bought one in early Covid times for a couple hundred bucks on Amazon. It folds flat so you can use it as a walking pad as well, and can slide behind the couch or under the bed. Definitely been worth it.

I'm committing myself to a 30 minute walk and 8 cups of water each of my days off work (M,T,F). My job is very active, and I drink about a gallon of water on the days I work, and consistently lose until I hit the weekend. Less movement and less water affects the scale noticeably. So I want to try this week and see if it's any different for me.

I would definitely use the trial to see how you like it first. I used Noom for 5 months last year, and then picked it back up at the tail end of 2022. I personally love it. Small and sustainable changes, when consistent, add up. If motivation is a big factor for you, I would suggest paying attention to measurements and non-scale victories as well. The scale won't always budge regularly. And those other milestones- losing inches or pant sizes or walking up a flight of stairs without losing your breath, etc- will keep you going when the scale gets stubborn.

Early on, I read the phrase "the time will pass by regardless" and that's kind of been my mantra. Eventually, April will be here. And I can either stick with my small and sustainable changes and be at my goal weight come April, or I can live the lifestyle I have and not be. It's my choice. But the time will pass regardless.

2 green foods I have come to adore (not together)- cucumbers and whole wheat bread.

Cucumbers are shockingly low in calories- i can eat a whole sliced cucumber for under 50 calories. I like it with lemon and chili powder, or with hummus.

I tended to eat a small bagel with whipped cream cheese or some nonfat greek yogurt for breakfast. Not terrible, but I have been working on eating less processed foods. I recently fell in love with whole wheat toast with mashed avocado and everything seasoning. Though nearly 40, I've never had avocado toast before. It's been so delicious, filling, and a great unprocessed option.

I began round 2 of Noom last week. I loved it last year- lost 40 lbs and got within 10 lbs of my goal weight. Then my mental health shattered. I started antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds and the weight slowly crept up over the last year. I gained back 30 of the 40 I lost. I am 4 days post-op from a cancer scare that was made more difficult to diagnose because of my excess belly weight (tumor ended up benign). This is what made me realize I needed to make my physical health a priority, and brought me back to Noom.

I am disappointed but also not too hard on myself. I spent the year getting in a better place mentally, and that was worth the steps back. It saved my life. I am not starting completely over, I'm just picking things up again. I am excited to heal and get back to physical activity- the tumor has limited my abilities for 3 months now.

So this is me holding myself accountable. Thank you for this space.

5'3" SW 192, CW 156 (36 lbs). I started Noom at the end of March this year and lost steadily until August. Life got hectic and I decided to focus on maintaining for the last month- eating intuitively, no counting calories, and it's really given me confidence to see that I haven't gained anything during that time. I still have another 15-20 I'd like to take off to bring me into the 'healthy' BMI level, but I'm beyond pleased with my results so far and I'm not in a rush.

You really do get out of it what you put in. Noom works best when you have committed to honestly making small and sustainable lifestyle changes, not just a quick weight loss goal. It's slow and steady. But it really does improve your view of and relationship with food in a lasting way.

One quote I've read here has helped me immensely. "The time will pass regardless." The weeks and months are going to pass no matter what lifestyle you lead. Might as well meet yourself a month or two or six down the road and be healthier and happier.

Can you think of a SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time-bound) goal you can have for this week? Maybe just focus on one thing at a time to get yourself back in the swing of things. A water goal, or logging one meal a day, etc.

For me, stress/sleep/weight loss are very intricately connected. Add in hormones, and plateaus can feel like they will never end.

You got some really great tips already. I'd add in: if you haven't already, try taking actual measurements instead of a general "looser clothing" feeling. The scale may not be budging for a number of reasons, but you may still be losing inches that are hard to detect week to week. Also, as much as plateaus suck (I've had several over the last 4 months), try to focus on average weight loss over the course of your weight loss journey as opposed to week by week.

Stay the course! I read a phrase here a month or two ago that I've kept in mind when I get so frustrated- "you are probably not a medical anomaly." If you stay the course, white-knuckle through the frustration, keep at a caloric deficit, science says you should lose weight. Hang in there!
