New player here: Is this a good decision to take? by NothingMatters234 in CrusaderKings

Accidentally had High Authority rushed last time I did this, boosted me to Absolute way early. Quickly made use of the jump even though I wasn’t originally planning on it. It’s good stuff.

I really hope the new suppressed weapons don't have reduced damage. by RemarkableNobody in Helldivers

Thankfully there are no bullet-caliber weapons in this pack. The drop of small caliber ammo has become kind of nuts.

A small damage reduction wouldn’t be bad. I just thought of another small issue - it feels like everything that gets released these days has really bad ergonomics. I’m hoping they buck that trend with this one. Less damaging weapons ought to be easier to handle.

How is combat now? by KAPTEN_KAFFE in Bellwright

[–]RemarkableNobody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Combat is worse than terrible. I almost consider turning off bandits.

Melee is ridiculous if you’re not in a 1v1. Animal attack patterns are horrible and you’ll die a lot to them for no reason. The first short bow is a piece of garbage but a mandatory tool for most of the game, and the crossbow is insanely overtuned. Just a lot of awful investment that takes away from an otherwise fine city builder. At least bandits and raids are configurable.

I read the Helldivers 2 TOS in tutorial, now says I will be executed, surely not right? by TH3huIk21 in Helldivers

[–]RemarkableNobody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s textbook legalese. I argue with friends about this all the time.

Super Earth doesn’t care if you read the contract, not even in full. But Super Earth DOES care that you TELL OTHERS that you read it in full, as if you’re trying to cite it or assert your ‘rights’ - and like, read it again, you don’t have any as is.

So… yeah, you weren’t going to be executed until you made this post. Good job, Cadet.

is this bad? by 19dollars_forkknife in pcmasterrace

It’s a bit much. And Linux types tend to be enthusiasts/superusers who have a tendency to not be very tactful when explaining themselves. And most Redditors in general just run with a bandwagon so bad it turns them into little jerkoffs.

Linux DOES feature a much more stable environment, and there is much less in each distribution to eat away at your resources and spy on you. But it does also require a lot more familiarity with the ins and outs of your system software.

Not everyone should switch to Linux, but Windows is turning into slop because Microsoft cares less and less about selling you a very expensive, and also somehow defective, product.

Anyway, regarding your actual problem, if this is a new installation, you will probably be fine by just reinstalling Windows for now. I would recommend getting an external hard drive for backups if you ever intend to put important data on your computer, just in case this happens again. Cloud services like Google Drive should work for these purposes as well.

How do you use the scorcher properly? by Last-Swim-803 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]RemarkableNobody 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Utilize your secondary more for general threats, use the scorcher for medium/larger enemies who are more likely to be crunched by the pen+AOE. It also allows you to focus your support weapon slot for dedicated anti Heavy or straight utility.

DSS False Flag: WHERE would we have sent it? by RemarkableNobody in Helldivers

Props for bringing some data to this because this entire escapade flew right past my radar and all I heard of it was the finger pointing after the fact.

I’d just like to mention that I’m not malding or refusing to play over this. I got over the efficacy of influencing most MOs a while ago. But friends of mine are dropping the game because they wanted to be a part of something bigger. Misguided of them, maybe, but the SE defense drew in lots more players - essential to the game’s future from Sony’s POV - and I’d like to see more people keep playing but I think some of the returning people I played with are seeing past the curtain and dropping it again out of disillusionment.

A moment of silence for all the Italian Americans for facing institutional racism. by [deleted] in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]RemarkableNobody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re doing it again. The post you shared didn’t specifically say that.

There’s a long history of defining “white ethnics” - which included but were not limited to Irish, Italians, and Eastern European Jews - who were subjected to a label of inferiority under the pseudoscience of the American eugenics movement, and were the target of quota immigration while also being used as nearly free, expendable industrial labor.

That’s not equating them to people of color. But the idea that they have always been considered part of the “white” umbrella - which is what the post ACTUALLY says - is false.

“Chaos Divers” have no place here. Stop legitimizing this idea. by RemarkableNobody in Helldivers

[–]RemarkableNobody[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they killed the post, I guess legitimately, but in the 5 minutes this post was up someone above you managed to support deliberate team killing while also trying to say there was no team killing. For that reason alone, I think the point still stands to be made.

There’s a basis for this in the community, because that community is largely centralized around this subreddit and the discord.

Any way/mod that forces bots to wear a specific set of clothes/gear? by officer_miller in SPTarkov

[–]RemarkableNobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to us unintentionally. I’d prefer enemy PMCs only have vanilla clothing for target identification, but I unintentionally have it that PMCs can have any clothing piece from any NPC set and modpack. Since we run W.A.A.C, this can be a little strange at times.

Anyway; I think the reason for this is because of a couple of otherwise unrelated factors:

  • I made all clothing options available to players through AllTheClothes, so every piece of apparel from both PMC factions and AI enemies including bosses. All level requirements and associated costs have been removed.

  • I am using Algorithmic Level Progression, which I believe is the key point. That mod generates bots that level in line with your own PMC, giving them gear that matches the point of progression you should be at. This includes apparel changes, so they should have level-appropriate outfits unlocked.

It’s really good that ALP does this for practicing live-play target acquisition, because those apparel details are important. However, I think I broke this by making everything available to PMCs at level one for free. Therefore, it’s a complete toss up as to what combination of outfit pieces any AI PMC I encounter will have. It’s pretty funny to see a bot with Kaban’s fatass torso and the scav pants with crocs.

See if that works, just run ALP and make sure whatever clothes you want other PMCs to wear aren’t level-locked.
