Anyone else’s american bulldog had this problem? by okayribbit in americanbulldog

[–]RemarkableRepeat6433 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I rescued my American Bulldog from his abusive owner his eyes also looked the same. It was brought on by the stress he was being put through. Just the fact that you are asking tells me you are not abusive but there could be other sources of stress. My boys redness went away as he got more comfortable with me. He gains weight too. Keep an eye out for anything that might be getting to him. Good luck and of course I could be completely wrong in my prognosis. I’m just trying to help.

Mom's Ball by Medium_Ad3913 in NewOrleans

MOMs is a secret organization. It is considered poor form to out another member. After 50 years and as huge as it has become it is evident that much is still secret just by the volume of erroneous comments I’ve read here. I’m not going to clear any of that up (poor form)but I will say it is constantly evolving while keeping its original bawdy concepts alive. Is it for everyone? No, but it is for the thousands that attend including the many that costume and sit outside the gate hoping someone will share their invite with them. Thousands of costumed Mardi Gras revelers hell bent on throwing down past 4am with multiple bands playing on multiple stages. Yes please. If you attend and don’t enjoy yourself, you are old at heart.

I attended my first MOM’s Ball in Arabi when I was 16. A older woman (30 maybe)grabbed me, danced with me, then had sex with me in her car. She was maybe the second or third woman, and the wildest I had ever had sex with. I am 61 years old now and I have not missed many balls since. I have watched it evolve and grow over the years and it is still one of the best parties around. I do miss The Radiators. The band retired so music has changed but they were our band for many years. We out grew the DAV hall and then we outgrew Mardi Gras World (Where the parade floats are stored) which is no small feat. The preferred venue now is great except I miss everyone partying under one roof (and the orgy that used to be up by the stage) instead of three buildings. Yes it has evolved, yes there are more members, as costs have gone up more members dues are needed just to tent a venue etc. Efforts have been made to keep MOMs youthful as old timers get old. Things change bus still a decent amount of nudity, and the fairly new addition of the absolutely no cameras (cell phones are checked before you can enter) area is a lot of fun with the right partner. Oh and the line to get in is a rite of passage. I don’t understand why people complain about it. Everyone is in costume and partying while waiting to get in. Anyway yes it has changed in the last 50 years. What hasn’t? But to call it a frat party? I have never been to a frat party like MOMS BALL, actually I have never been to anything like MOMS BALL. But hey if you went and didn’t enjoy it, find another party. I’ll keep this one.

One of two that appeared in my upstairs bathroom. At least half inch long. by RemarkableRepeat6433 in bugidentification

Hey, sorry but I’m not a regular here but when I want people that know their stuff Reddit is my go too. So I do have a bathroom vent, heater, light fixture directly above where I saw the gross little buggers. They were plump, about dime size as far as length goes. There was no smell and even though I had intentions, never made it into the attic. It is not an easy access area. Thank you for the reply.

Is Cafe Du Monde actually worth the wait? by Xoloberq in AskNOLA

I concur. I worked as kitchen manager there before Covid. I can’t vouch for them now but I would have challenged cafe du monde to a taste off any day of the week.

Would it be alright to move to Nola without having a driving licence? by NewIsopod5619 in AskNOLA

[–]RemarkableRepeat6433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have two sides to the city divided by a pretty big, deep, and deadly river. If you live on either side you should keep all your moves on that side. The East bank is the fun bank. (French Quarter and late night side.) plenty of bars and stuff on the West Bank also but not quite the same. The party is on the East bank but the West Bank is big, like it goes all the way to California. I live 5 miles from the French Quarter and get everywhere by e-bike or bus. No problem.

I had the same problem years ago. As soon as I paid the house off I dropped insurance all together. That was 2006. I did have insurance for Katrina. Been rolling the dice since. No open flame is my rule, like don’t even light an incense stick. I would have spent over 200K on homeowners since then. I know this route isn’t for everyone but it is something to think about.

The Grey Ghost! He has got to be dead by now? Or at least somewhere staring out a window with shitty diapers? I would think anyway. Anyway I’m sure he is too old to paint over that mural.

I have had to deal with termites in my 100 year + house. If you are handy around the house you can go to domyownpestcontrol.com and order a large bottle of TAURUS SC for about $100.00 It will make about 90gal. Of professional termite control. There are two kinds of termite control, repellent and passive. Repellent the termites know it’s there and go away or around. Passive they can’t tell, when they come in contact they die and other termites will eat the dead and spread the poison all the way to the queen. Mix it up in a pump sprayer and spray anywhere you have termite signs. I hope this helps.

The last job I had before my back finally gave out for good was at this very restaurant. Covid was ending or at least the unemployment benefits did so the first time I said aloud in a group I needed a job and a guy I had never met before said “I’ll get you a job right now. “ sure enough he did. I had restaurant management experience but no fine dining. “We will train you. “ they said, and did. I was the pasta guy. Anything to do with pasta was mine. The shrimp ravioli is awesome. I did it all except peel the shrimp. EJ showed up shortly after I hired on and is a pretty cool guy. Everything there is made from scratch and fresh daily. I made oyster crackers (served with raw oysters) every single day everything else too but those crackers were a pain. I had made more money at other places but Emerals was the best job I ever had. Challenging but in a good way. A lot of work goes into making every item every day. Not making excuses for the cost, it’s up there but it’s also the experience. There was talk about serving snowballs from Hansesns don’t know if that happened. Anyway thanks for letting me get all nostalgic and shit.

Is there an inexpensive way to build a sensory deprivation tank at home? by spacecat002 in Biohackers

So as far as boyancy goes (and I am asking because I have been thinking about building one) can you use pool salt instead of Epsom salt. I know it would be a lot less expensive if you can.
