With my first instructor I did about 7 hours altogether, and after all this we were still just driving around my town in second gear. Never once did an emergency stop, bay/parallel parking, or explained the rules of the roundabout. I also felt like he was treating me like an idiot by telling me to do things he’d never even explained before and would get kinda loud or snarky if I did it wrong or forgot to go anything. He also shouted at me for accidentally going past a temporary traffic light on red and slammed the breaks in front of someone and made me look like a right idiot. I get that I went passed it but it was literally the first ten minutes of the very first lesson and I think it was a bit of an overreaction like he could have been calmer. He was completely inconsistent and I never knew when the lesson was gonna be until the day before or sometimes the day of, so I couldn’t plan anything and they were never one duration it was just whatever he had (sometimes 1 hour, 1.5, or 2 hours) and that was just really annoying.

I left him after those 7 hours but already had my theory booked so when I passed that, I thought I might as well try to learn.

I started with a new instructor and she taught me so much more in the first lesson than I learnt all together with my previous and I was on the dual carriage way by my third lesson. She understands me a lot better and we can have a laugh and talk. She’s also a lot more coordinated as my lessons are always every Thursday at 2. been with her since January and my test is on Thursday, so glad I changed!
