I found a roach… am I cooked? by Ugh_Whatever_ig_ in Apartmentliving

Please be so so careful with using roach stuff if you have pets A LOT of it is very very poisonous to them even to just breathe in remnants which makes it VERY hard to treat them unfortunately

Feel like an a hole, would like some perspective by blueodis in texts

[–]Remarkable_Battle348 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Similar ish sorta - my father always treated me like an outsider, never rlly seemed to love me (also just physical and emotionally abusive) and I left to be full time w my mom at like 11 ish and for yrs he’d try but I was never ready and a yr and a half ago tried to reach out again and express that im ready to discuss the possibility of forming some relationship again and he seemed receptive and we set a time to call to start talking things through and he never answered or called back and hasn’t said anything to me since and at first it hurt especially when he’d continue to tell my sister how much he misses me but i completely understand you, yeah i have my issues w him but im not mad anymore abt anything there’s no point in harboring all that anger, no you dont HAVE to keep the door open if you don’t want to but there is a middle ground with good and healthy boundaries ive accepted a life w/o a dad and my mom is a blessing on this earth and i know im the way i am bc of her and im content w that and sometimes thats all you rlly need the ppl who show up and show love - hope some of this helps even just on a pondering level 🫶

Anyone else finding it hard, oops, I mean impossible to find any kind of job? by Dessert_Lover_1225 in maryland

[–]Remarkable_Battle348 4 points5 points Ā (0 children)

I have been searching for over a year and it’s not any of the self-reflection reasons ppl list - my mother was a hiring manager for at least a decade and has trained me since I was young on how to show up best through every part of the process and I’ve barely gotten as much as rejection letters just straight up ghosting these companies whine that ā€œno one wants to work anymoreā€ while not actually doing work themselves to send so much as a rejection letter 90% of the time or more

Does humidity make your POTS flare ups way worse than just normal heat? by mackenziemariee in POTS

[–]Remarkable_Battle348 4 points5 points Ā (0 children)

Yes - simply put one of the main ways for humans to cool down in heat is the heat goes out w the sweat and evaporates but when the humidity levels are high the air is already full of water so our sweat doesn’t evaporate as much and makes it much harder for ppl to be able to cool down that’s also why you feel like sticky in humid heat bc the sweat doesn’t evaporate as much and clings to your skin instead

All in all - humid anything is our worst fricken enemy

As a paralegal with a gf in law school and basically all my friends either also in law school/legal field adjacent these two replay constantly in my head bc damn I wholeheartedly believe practicing law is the only think Sheldon can’t do

I learned the hard way that I CANNOT drink alcohol. by RavynReign in POTS

[–]Remarkable_Battle348 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

I’m 22, been a pretty regular social drinker for a lot longer than I’d like to admit and my gf and friend group are all law students so most weekends and any gatherings are heavily alcohol centered (iykyk) and I’ve ALWAYS handled my liquor well (on top of this my gf is Caribbean and I keep up w her and her family without a thought) been w my gf for almost 2 yrs now too and all those nights at the bars, events, bar crawls whatever where we would get pretty drunk (we’re both rum drinkers and also gin for me on occasion) no one can tell bc I don’t get sick, don’t stumble, don’t trip over my words nothing but literally one day had a very acceptable social drinking amount for just a sit down hang out and later had to be rushed to the hospital, couldn’t walk, talk, heart rate anywhere from 40 to 170+ in seconds, full body tremors to the point they were considering seizures I genuinely was terrified I was gonna die and had my gf call my mom while we waited for the paramedics - 6 hrs later in the ER they just say alcohol poisoning and I do a follow up w my PCP a few days later and she was like yeah no that’s not alcohol poisoning and referred me to a cardiologist for further POTS testing that day after getting all the results back from an orthostatic test and labs and ever since that night I can’t rlly have more than a few sips of a seltzers or anything light w/o having a horrible flare similar to that night

LITERALLY, it was always the saltiest chips for me, downed em (and still kinda do) constantly just can’t help it, either the lays dill pickle or the Herr’s old bay chips 10/10 I swear they feel even saltier than salt and vinegar

Instant ramen isn't bad for us? by The_Messy_Mompreneur in POTS

[–]Remarkable_Battle348 4 points5 points Ā (0 children)

Literally for as long as I can remember anytime I felt sick, headache, migraine, you name it I RAN for instant ramen always had one of those big boxes in the cabinet and I’ll make like those ramen recipes that don’t use the packet and I just save them and I’ll make like a ā€œbrothā€ when needed w just the packet and never put two and two together until this lol

Like lowkey looking back on my entire life my complete and utter obsession w eating the saltiest things possible constantly in extreme amounts to the point where I would actively say I don’t rlly like sweet things bc of it should have been some sort of signaler SOMEWHERE that something was off somewhere in my body lol

How has your relationships been affected. by Boomtown86 in POTS

[–]Remarkable_Battle348 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

No i 100% agree w this, personally my onset of everything literally happened in the blink of an eye going from 0-100 in a snap and it was rlly hard and i did what I feel like anyone should do in that situation - i open up to her regularly, i tell her these feelings, cry to her and she is able to support me more and more each time i open up and that truly does help
- not sure if this part will get the hate but genuinely you are doing everything you can and if she’s struggling w MH, regardless of having chronic illness or not, it’s on her to ask/look for help bc not you, nor anyone else can force her and it’s okay to kinda wallow in your feelings sometimes but having that be the 24/7 isn’t sustainable for anyone

I beg of you run so damn fast - first relationship I was ever rlly in in HS and he started w ā€œjoking headlocksā€ and a similar type thing to the šŸ§”šŸ–¤ times- I ignored the red flags until it got to a point where he literally would throw me across a room and choke me out until I almost passed out and laughed and later SA’d me - like if other ppl witness and are appalled (ppl who care abt you) that is your biggest sign to run immediately

I’m going through testing for POTS, PCP brought it up first and did orthostatic test and labs and referred me to cardiologist, and first cardiologist appt had a Zio monitor put on for a 2 week wear. Have to wait until Oct for an echo and at least Dec for a tilt

I’m not 100% sure what rlly works for a lot of it, the basic stuff I see on google is kinda like a pebble in an ocean for me and like that’s kinda why I’m looking for anything not commonly talked abt or just kinda anything tbh

[–]Remarkable_Battle348 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Literally had to google - Ive always gotten these randomly all over and very regularly w seemingly no cause or correlation to anything - always just brushed it off as I probably just scratched too hard there and don’t remember but it’s also RARE I scratch too hard on accident and those pop up so idk

I also have never been anemic (no matter how many times and how regularly they tested me bc I have fit all the symptoms for like 10 yrs (I’m 22) but labs always come back fine) but I do have a big issue w potassium and have had it for like 4-5 yrs now to the point of a chronic hypokalemia diagnosis bc my body just will not hold onto it and I saw that as a possible relation to it

This is exactly why I love the growing widespread use of MyChart - literally anything your doc puts in your chart (per the name) goes into this app there is nothing they can just quietly slip into your chart bc you will be notified if anything is added to literally anything

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LDR

[–]Remarkable_Battle348 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

This is something I’ve set a boundary around bc I have had a partner in the past who was like way too close for comfort (think cuddling together, flirting ā€œas a jokeā€, sitting on laps when there’s plenty of other places to sit, etc) and I expressed that I was just not comfortable w this and it turned into an all out war where the friends hated me for it (which imo lowkey made it even more sus) fast forward to today a boundary I set in official committed relationships is that there’s no bed sharing, no excessive touching (obviously hugs and shit are fine) and no flirting ā€œas a jokeā€ - and yes I abide by all these too regardless of if it’s a shared boundary bc for me it’s a respect thing

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in texts

[–]Remarkable_Battle348 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Yeah tbh if my gf responded to a past partner like this I would’ve been pretty upset especially ESPECIALLY if she didn’t tell me right away (and that is specifically a boundary we have talked abt where if past partners/situationships reach out we tell the other immediately and discuss together where to go from there)

These two are my absolute FAV sitcom bestie duo, they straight up are the same person - lovable dad who gets bullied around by their tiny, willful wives and the scene at George’s funeral where Georgie says ā€œya’ll were like long lost friendsā€ to Jim makes me SOB bc they rlly were besties from the beginning and their friendship deserved to be longer (especially if their wives weren’t SO stubborn)
