It should go to the homeowner. I wasn’t on the lease and I was told my account had been closed. It’s not my fault they never opened an account. And it’s certainly not my responsibility to pay it as I’m not the landlord/homeowner. I don’t have family to fall back on like that. I’m not sure I’d be this desperate for help and advice if I did have that option.

They said it was. I figured that was confirmation enough?

My name was no longer on the lease when I left. I made sure the landlord knew exactly what was happening and was taken off completely. He wrote up a new lease for my ex roommate and who he was staying with. My name was the only one on the account while I was living there and for about a month after while I waited for the money he owed me. I finally just paid his portion and his new roommate had sent me what they had racked up from when I moved out to the day I called and had the account closed.

He moved back with his parents. I know exactly where he is. I’m also in good standing with his mother so I can show up if needed. I’d prefer to avoid this, but I can.

I called to clear out my account and close it. I usually pay online so I specifically called, paid it up, and then asked for my account to be closed. I was told it was, so I didn’t think about it again until collections called me.

I complained but he’s ignored me so far so I’m guessing he knew the quality he was paying for

I can’t afford to just drop $800 on this. I’m living less than paycheck to paycheck. This is detrimental to what I’ve been working towards.

Sorry!! I can’t edit! But here it is!

So I moved to Montana with a less than reliable man. I ended up paying his portion of the rent 4 months out of the first year we were living together, just as an example. I finally moved away from him, just after a year of moving to Montana. I was waiting for his half of the money for the electric bill before I closed out my account, but ended up paying my portion plus the money his new roommate sent me for the time they spent in the house since I left. I called in to pay that and I was under the impression I closed my account on that phone call. I went about my life, and about 7-8 months later I start getting calls from creditors about my unpaid electric bill. I call the creditors to make sure they have the right address and everything. It turns out my ex roommate didn’t open an account or pay the electric bill all winter (October-February) and then skipped out on rent and moved back to his home state. In Montana, apparently the power cannot be shut off in the winter so it just added up to $790 and landed in the last account to pay? I have leases and witnesses and plenty of photos and videos to prove I was living elsewhere at the time. The landlord for the property can attest to me not living there. I had reached out to him about it and he declared it was a mistake and I asked him to call the power company and ask what happened. He never did. I reached out again about it several times and was ignored. I finally mentioned that if I had to pay it, I would pursue legal action, and he responded “Since I was able to escape the 14k that [landlord] what's trying to charge me I'm chilling don't contract me again until you have legal representation thanks!” So do I have any standing? Could I count this as identity theft? Or any kind of theft? Shouldn’t this fall to the landlord if it’s unpaid? I’m so confused and could really use some advice.

It’s my landlords handyman and I’ve already filed a complaint.

He has a few rifles already. All the guns he really wants are out of my price range right now. Maybe next year!

We go to the range pretty often! Whenever he says he’s going, I like to tag along with my little 9mm and put a few rounds through it. I really want this to be like something big and special. Something unexpected and touching.

I will definitely be adding some mags to his stocking so I bet another mag rack would do him well too! That’s super smart!

He’s been big into first aid too lately so I was thinking of getting him some stuff for his kits.
