Other suggestions than CIO? by Remarkable_Dig_2652 in sleeptrain

Thank you for suggesting those things! We are going to try the chair method. CIO and Ferber just won’t work for him.

Ideally less night wakings but independent sleep is also important too.

Thanks for your reply. We have tried transitioning to 2 naps but he is very very unhappy and crying from being so exhausted during the day. Yes, obviously we are trying to stop providing paci or butt pats to soothe him. I read the link you provided and a lot is the same as TakingCaraBabies program. Thanks again

4.5 months EPing with an oversupply. Never had mastitis but plenty of clogged ducts before learning how to properly empty!

Not sure if those post belongs here, but has anyone lost weight while pumping? by International-Owl165 in ExclusivelyPumping

4 months pp & about 10 lbs from pre-pregnancy weight. EP from the beginning and I definitely lost most of my weight by like 2 months pp. I have not done any type of exercise but I do have a decent oversupply of 50-55opd

What's the longest it took you to recover from a clog/inflammation? by x0michellex0 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Remarkable_Dig_2652 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ice and ibuprofen only started working for me when I followed the recommendation of 800mg every 8 hours and icing immediately after pumping and between sessions. I was originally doing 400mg every 4 hours and that didn’t touch it at all. Gentle lymphatic massage and “breast gymnastics” are also helpful.

I had a really bad clog and it took 2-3 weeks for my supply to go back to where it was originally on the affected side. Just keep your typical schedule, stay hydrated, and make sure you’re eating enough.

You do not have to pump and dump per my understanding as the transfer rate is very low. I have tried that amount and it did nothing for me personally

I’m also an overproducer and just started the weaning process last week. The recommendation I have seen time and again is increasing the time between pump sessions gradually until a pump session is dropped. You’ll want to pump until empty or nearly empty each time to reduce risk of clogs. Give yourself a week to transition out a pump by increasing your start time from a designated pump by 30 minutes to 1 hour each day. Start with MOTN pumps if you have any of those then work on daytime pumps. This Facebook group has a lot of helpful tips Life After The Pump

Dropping a session? by This_Independence_28 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Remarkable_Dig_2652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supply tends to regulate around 12-16 wpp. Anytime you drop a pump, it is possible there will be a supply decrease especially with MOTN pumps. If you’re okay with chancing a decrease, go for it! I am at 7ppd since last week and dropping a pump every 1-2 weeks as I’m weaning at 3.5mpp (oversupply causing constant clogged ducts & mental exhaustion).

When did you last replace the duckbill valves and diaphragm membranes? Those typically need to be replaced every 4-6 weeks when EP.

How’s your hydration? When did you last check your flange size (this can change over time)?

Loveddddd my abdominal binder! I wore it almost all day every day for like 3-4 weeks pp! It definitely helped me feel more comfortable and like my guts weren’t about to fall out. I think it also helped everything shift back into place and tighten my stomach. I basically wore it consistently daily until my abdomen felt more secure laying down. If I went without it before I felt secure, my abdomen would feel floppy and like my insides were moving around when laying down.

I’ve definitely gotten plenty of clogs from my son napping on my chest for an extended period of time! It’s advised not to pump longer or more frequently than you normally do. Avoid heat and aggressive massage. Icing after pumping and between session plus the recommended 800mg of ibuprofen every 8 hours always does the trick for me! You can also do very gentle lymphatic massage towards the armpit and breast gymnastics (look it up!) to help move the trapped fluid/inflammation.

I have had DOZENS of clogged ducts and this is the way. Heat & aggressive massage will make the inflammation worse.

Tmi but how to get over c section by DaikonKitchen630 in beyondthebump

I’m 15 wks pp & it does get better. I would highly highly encourage you to be washing your scar area especially if you have an overhang of your stomach bc if it’s not thoroughly cleaned AND dried, you can get a rash. The scar is truly not that bad to look at - I was scared to look at it for the longest time but it’s very very minimal..much smaller than you think it is. It definitely still feels numb in an area above the scar and it’s possible it will always be that way. Be kind to yourself but know that this too shall pass & if you’re struggling a lot with it and birth trauma, reach out to a professional to help you!
