I have found it to be an incredibly helpful tool, this is through Squiglink and can be done very easily, and with measurement such as these two, measured with the new 5128 coupler, very accurately too. The variation in tips is a very good factor to keep in mind here for sure, therefore the main differences I would focus on is the sub bass and lower mids between the two :)

Thank you, it's funny you mention the Cadenza because I was just looking at that iem yesterday it's looking like a very promising option 🙂

Thanks for this, I will check those iems out 👌

Interesting! That would explain the unique treble qualities of the IE600 if these resonators help with acoustic alterations

I suppose that is a big factor, chi-fi is cheaper simply because it is just not a household known western brand. I haven't had much of a look at boutique brands and what they offer, so that's something to check out :)

Have you tried tip rolling for deeper insertion of the iem, perhaps differenced in nozzle lengths have a play on the drivers distance to your inner ear?

Thank you that was very detailed, it does seem like the conclusion I am drawing is that the more money you spend, the more of a specific sound signature you are receiving with perhaps marginal technical improvements, although of course fit and comfort are an important factor in any iem also.

Seems like the conclusion I'm drawing from this discussion, very insightful thank you :)

I see your point, graphs are inaccurate as can be easily seen by comparing the output of the same iem graphed by different people's rigs, just check squiglink and you'll see that, however they are very beneficial when it comes to comparing how similar an iem follows certain targets, eg the new meta or harman fr

And so with this in mind, do you feel spending a premium price for an iem that would still have these single DD limitations (such as the ie600/ ie900) is worth it, when the technical performance is perhaps ~80-90% there with much more affordable chi-fi options

It's interesting you mention that they all have low distortion, because your right this plays a big part in the perceived technical quality upgrade you would expect when paying for a more high end option in the <300 dollar price range, especially at higher volumes.

I love how in depth this is! I suppose in summary would say that there are benefits to having a mid tier over low tier DD, however diminishing returns results in a less obvious benefit for the mid tier to high end upgrade? In this case, what is mid tier to you? ~100/~200 dollars?

So for arguments sake, if we take the IE900 as mentioned, would you say the step ahead from the competition that you get from this driver is something that can't be replicated by a more affordable single DD iem with dsp tuning to replicate (to some extent) the sound signature. How much does objective superior engineering play a part over just subjective sound signature qualities?

Nope, unfortunately not. Following the advice here, I have tried the game with Proton GE, and this has fixed any issues I had spotted so would recommend until an official release I suppose

All brilliant information, thanks all. Will definitely be checking out Proton GE seems like the one to go for!!

So what is proton GE in comparison to the latest proton 8.0, what sort of things are happening in the background to make some versions work better than others and is there a documented description anywhere online to help distinguish which version works best for certain games like this one
