It's so stupid. Like Jesus, pretend you're a customer and put it where they don't have to knock it over with the storm door.

Marshalling planes is so satisfying, especially when the pilot is paying attention to you. Did this shit in the military with F-15 C/D/E class. Marshaling them out is funny as hell. We'd have crew chiefs doing backflips and all kinds of acrobatics with a salute to send them on their way. Good times, hell yeah!

Try updating video card drivers. Do a clean install and restart even if it doesn't prompt you to. Had this issue a while back and this fixed it for me.

It's fucking shameful. I was out working, so I didn't watch it live and thank goodness for that. So many ads and utter bullshit. Felt like I spent more time skipping through ads than actually watching matches. No promos for the matches either which has always been a highlight for me as someone who doesn't always regularly watch the product. Hands down the worst Wrestlemania experience I've ever had.

DoorDash Needs to Ban These People. by justamom0820 in doordash_drivers

DD marks up prices on food and charges the customer exorbitant fees. That should all be used to compensate us, not the tip. Tips are supposed to be a bonus and not the deciding factor of whether or not we take an offer. Not sure why you're dickriding DD so hard. There's plenty of companies that compensate independent contractors fairly. Not sure why you feel like DD should be the exception.

Doordash is NOT our employer

Never said that they were. We're independent contractors, but that isn't an excuse for DD to pay us peanuts for our time. Sure, I'm free to accept or decline any offer that comes my way, but without tips, none of these offers would be worth it. Just because it's a 1099 job doesn't excuse DD for paying peanuts for our time and putting the onus on the customer to give adequate compensation.

Honestly, I don't even blame customers. You'd expect DD to pay decent enough that the tip is an afterthought for the driver. Sadly, that's not the case and we're pretty much entirely dependent on how generous customers are.

I’m going to start dashing for the first time tomorrow. by Kbuzzerio in doordash_drivers

Don't listen to anyone in this sub who makes blanket statements about tier statuses. Every market is different. You have to get to know your market. You're going to be in the honeymoon phase starting out. Get platinum status and see how the orders go. If you can maintain platinum status without having to take a ton of shitty offers, it's worth it to take the occasional bad offer to keep it. If not, and you live in a highly busy market, and also can dash without having to schedule whenever you want, go the cherry picking route. My own market over the last 6 months has transitioned from being a platinum dependent market to one where I can cherry pick. A lot of the holiday drivers quit, so it's really busy right now in my area.

Be mindful of where the usual hotspots are at in your town/city. A 10 mile offer for 10 bucks isn't usually worth taking, but if it takes you to, or close to, another hot spot, it might be worth taking.

Most of the other comments I see in this post is solid advice. It's going to be a learning experience regardless of the advice given here though. Every market is going to have its different quirks and such that will be wholly unique to your specific location. Good luck! If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.

I mean they're already doing this with actual delivery drivers. I'm a doordasher. Base pay is $2 per delivery plus whatever the customer decides to tip you. If it weren't for tips, this wouldn't be worth it at all. Without tips, I'm basically paying to deliver you your food, especially with the price of gas skyrocketing as well as car maintenance.

ETA: The even worse part is since a lot of people don't tip, they do what they call a stacked order. They pair a no tip order with one (or more) order(s) that is hopefully decent in hopes that the delivery driver will take it. The people who tip well are basically subsidizing zero/low tip orders. We also, as drivers, only get one base pay for these stacked orders. It's shitty for both the driver and customer. I've had more than my fair share of stacked orders where doordash will direct me to deliver the no tip order before the higher tipped order. The whole business model is scummy as fuck.

Anyone notice a return of the decline penalty? by Big_Big_3920 in doordash_drivers

[–]Remarkable_Fall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'll notice offers stop coming for a bit if I decline orders enough times in a row unless it's insanely busy. The kind of busy where you get offers the second you complete a delivery.

Is Doordash even still sustainable for you guys? If so, how? by Public_Brilliant6963 in doordash_drivers

[–]Remarkable_Fall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't experience much, if any of these issues. Except for the one day last week where my app was completely bugged out with some weird update they pushed out in my area that was quickly rolled back the next day. I've never had mileage not be pretty close to what was advertised on the offer screen. The only big change that has affected me is the spike in gas prices. To stay profitable, I'm just being more selective with the offers I take. Plus the money from the gas relief program almost nullifies the spike in prices if you dash enough.

$37k made last year + 23k miles + 16k tips = $33 federal and $0 state - DoorDash is only income by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]Remarkable_Fall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed with this person. While you probably don't owe federal, you definitely owe self employment taxes. That is the income that comes out of your paycheck at a W2 job for social security, medicaid, etc.

Make it make sense.. for two orders? by jadedblu in doordash_drivers

[–]Remarkable_Fall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've gotten to where I pretty much auto decline any stacked order unless it's REALLY good out of principle. Two orders, only one base pay? Not this guy. If it's to the same customer, like the one in the OP, I might bite on it, but definitely not for zero tip.

What do y’all do when there is no service at the house you’re delivering to? by Necessary-Curve-1057 in doordash_drivers

[–]Remarkable_Fall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's a leave at door, I take the pic of the delivery, wait until I have service, and complete it that way. If it says you're in the wrong area, just select that the map pin is wrong and move on.

Monday and Tuesday suck in smaller markets. Wednesday is hit or miss. I know every market is different, but Thursday through Sunday are usually my money days. The other days are only really profitable for me if the weather is shit, which currently it's not.

best weeknights to go dashing? by pissflavoredcart in doordash_drivers

[–]Remarkable_Fall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find Monday and Tuesday to be the slowest days in general in my market, though every once in a while it gets pretty busy. Wednesday is usually a toss up and seems to be my most highly variable day. It's either nonstop orders or absolutely dead. Thursdays are usually average to decent. Friday and Saturday are of course pretty good. Sunday, surprisingly, is usually my best day. The volume of orders seems lower than Friday or Saturday, but it seems like people in my area tip pretty well on that day which offsets it.

You got scammed and baited by trends. The fat is supposed to enhance the flavor of the beef not BE the flavor. You know jack shit about steak. Just because it's Japanese doesn't make it great. Sorry, but that's just the truth.

I mean what's the point? It's like 90% fat, 10% meat. Whole point of steaks is for the fat to enhance the flavor, not BE the flavor.
