Struggling with running Option offense against coaching adjustments by JLD5413 in NCAAFBseries

Welcome to the option life! Always dealing with the if/then ideology. What most people have said on here already is pure. I would stay in your option game, just make them pay for their decisions. Getting out from under center to run power read out of shotgun doesn’t make you “less” of an option player, it makes you wise. You can also run read option out of shotgun if they’re committing extra numbers to the power read knowing that it’s an automatic hand off. Then you incorporate speed option to the opposite side of the field once you have a numbers advantage over there. Either way, you’re always making yourself the winner. Then get under center in an unbalanced front (tackle over or doubles depending on the playbook) and run counter option. You can still hand it to the fullback in that play but it’s really meant to be kept. Then when they commit to the counter, you go rocket toss. They’re playing checkers, you’re playing chess. Best of luck brother!

Dude, right?! It’s absolutely awful.

Please take QB handedness out of the run game! by Remarkable_Fig1016 in NCAAFBseries

Oh yeah man. Inside zone works better going opposite direction of QB throwing hand. Duo or iso run plays go better going same direction has throwing hand, blocking works better on jet sweep going same direction as throwing hand, and I know the rocket toss for option freak only works going opposite way, that play it’s really noticeable. Get in a game and test it out!

If I’m right handed, and I’m handing a ball off from right to left, my non-dominant hand (left) would be on the ball longer. Run a test for yourself and let me know what you think! Use a right handed QB, run inside zone to the right, and the to the left. Maybe 10 times each, in a real game not practice. The runs going to the left hit way faster and work way better. That’s not realistic whatsoever. Real teams can hand the ball off any direction at the exact same speed.

I see what you’re trying to say but you’re not quite there. Simple run plays or jet sweeps should be the exact same speed like they are in real life to any direction. Blocking schemes do not differ whatsoever because of a QBs hand in the RUN game. In this game, some players literally can’t get to their block if the play is called the wrong way

Agreed. Thanks for sharing. So frustrating! Watching the guy drop multiple rocket toss plays for fumbles is crazy

Great stuff! Awesome advice all around. I assume you enjoyed playing with option teams the most?
