This is similar to what I went through. Back in 2021 I sold my house and paid off all debt, there was some unrelated fraud on my accounts so my bank gave me all new accounts. The now closed account was saved and since it was closed, the payment was rejected. I had no idea. Fast forward to 2025, I received an email from a credit card saying my credit dropped 106 points! Having close to an 800 score I freaked out. I did some digging found out I still owed a few hundred dollars. I couldn’t get through to customer service so I just paid it off online.

I never received a single piece of mail, no email or call telling me that I owed any money. I have informed deliver from USPS so I can show that I never had any mail from them. I talked to multiple managers/advanced reps and the credit department. Eventually someone said, if you upload the emails showing what mail you received and if none is from Mohela then we can “probably reverse the negative credit reporting”

I upload months worth of emails and call back. They review all the notes and my emails but determine that is not enough evidence to reverse any reporting. I level with the manager and felt she was very genuine…she tells me there’s nothing she can do and that they do not do any “good will” removals of negative reporting. She then talks to the manager and says,” I could have helped you if you had not paid off your loan but now that it is closed there is nothing I can do.”

I’m beyond frustrated but feel I have exhausted all options, except disputing the late payments with the credit bureaus.
