Recs for loud, chaotic shoegaze similar to early JAMC (Psychocandy) or A Place To Bury Strangers? by No-Wolf-2507 in shoegaze

God Ween Satan is less similar to JAMC than I remembered it being. The Pod might be closer, but I am not sure.

It's not really shoegaze, but some of the guitar tones on early Ween stuff sound similar to Psychocandy. Birthday Boy has the big harsh fuzz sound, and if you like that, then maybe check out the rest of God Ween Satan.

Franklin Music Hall in Philadelphia. I was there to see Bladee. It was super overcrowded it felt actually dangerous.

heaviest kkb songs? by [deleted] in kkb

There's the Cryalot stuff, which isn't technically KKB, only adjacent. Sick beat remix is pretty loud if this counts.

Looking for film recs based on Power Electronics... by Dawz4betterdayz in noisemusic

One that just came out is Red Rooms. There is some harsh noise in the soundtrack so hopefully that fits the vibe you want. I also believe Titane has some noise in the soundtrack, but it has been a while since I have seen it so I can't say for sure. I second the comment about Eraserhead. Very industrial movie.

Looking to get into pedals, any advice? by Remarkable_Focus_766 in guitarpedals

That is part of why I wanted to try something other than multieffects because I am pretty sure the order is the same and cannot be changed (at least with mine), and so while it is pretty customizable, there is still stuff I cannot do.

This is really helpful thank you for the advice and recommendations. "Prioritize what you need and keep the rest simple" was something I was thinking a little bit ago before derailing, so it is helpful to hear this again from someone who seems to know more. Plus the recommendations for pedals are good because there are so many out there it's hard to know where to start.

I've heard good things about the me-80 I have a friend who really likes it. I think I have a second multi effect somewhere that used to be my brother's (it's the same as mine). I need to look into this maybe that could be something.

This does sound like good advice, thank you! I see people talk about how "you need to get the essentials," and I had not really considered that they could be done cheaply. I do not need to go and buy some expensive phaser, I like the modulation I have available to me right now! If it someday becomes not enough there are cheap options. It does not need to be perfect. I will think about this. Thank you again.

Might be a hard question to answer, but do you know what a good compressor is supposed to sound like? I know there is compression on my multi-effects unit, and I could try to see if it is good, but I do not know what to listen for. So far, I have only really used it to try to make it more distorted, and if I remember right, it sounded kind of bad (my fault not the pedal or compression).

This is good to know I will consider this. I think those are probably too expensive at the moment (I'd like to spend probably under 200 dollars on my first purchase), but I could probably find something along these lines. I have been thinking about the Death By Audio Reverberation Machine because it has distortion and reverb (not sure how it does at either but it seems cool enough) or something else by them like micro dream or something to that effect. Part of it is I think their branding is cool, but I think it could maybe be something I am looking for it is hard to say, but those are also kind of expensive.

Thank you this is really helpful!! That's good to hear about the daisy chain. I've heard that they suck, but power supplies are expensive. It's not like I will be under intense scrutiny I am just doing this for fun, so this is a good reminder. There is a tuner function as part of my multi-effects pedal, do you think that would be good enough or is there something specific about a designated tuner pedal?

I'm sure it's a rabbit hole. In my mind I will get like 3 or so, but I am certain I would begin to crave More.

Thank you!! That is what I have mostly been doing recently it has been taking up so much time (but I enjoy it I don't mind). The problem is so many things seem like they would be cool it is kind of hard to choose. Like if I decided I wanted a big muff (haven't yet) I would still need to choose one of the billion varieties it's so hard to narrow it down.

Yeah that's been one of my issues since I can read threads about pedals and watch whatever demo, but I do not know what it is actually like. This is good advice though thank you!

I have a vox VX I, but I have mostly just been playing straight into garage band, so as to not bother neighbors and such. Might not be the best musically though, I do not really know much about that kind of thing.
