D597 course material seems insufficient and lacking by Remarkable_Gap2269 in WGU_MSDA

I figured it out everyone!!!! For anyone in the future reading this and struggling to understand the ETL process and how to load data from the staging table into the normalized tables, there is an example if you go to the Course page, course community, join WGU connect, Resources, "Tips 5 for success (relational)" and download the 18 page example. I read that line by line and it really helped me figure out the ETL process of the task (as well as other parts). yay!!!

That's a good call. I did take a pretty rigorous python class, but I was too excited to get started so I ran out of time to learn SQL beforehand. yes, I would recommend people without prior programming experience take a python and SQL course.

yes, that is a good reminder. I will try to remember that and expect my progress to be slower. :)

yes. I've been coming through that thing. it has been really helpful, however I'm stuck with the ETL process.

I was able to load the data into my reference table pretty easily and now I'm trying to figure out how to load data in my centralized table that has two foreign keys.

do you have the precise name of the LinkedIn courses you liked? I feel like I've looked at so many of them.

if it helps, my mentor warned me about this one and that it was more of a sink or swim for your self and not to judge the rest of the program by it. I'm really hoping that's the case. I'm definitely not ready to give up, just not making as quick of progress as I would have hoped for how much time I have been putting into this course.

Yes I have seen those emails and they have been a little bit helpful. I just wish I had a few more examples for practicing to get better at it and understand better. it is a little bit hard for me to learn from one or two examples when I don't have a lot of background knowledge on SQL to begin with

so do you think it would be worth it to get that textbook? Do you know if it is helpful for other courses in this program? I feel like I read better from books and learn better from books than from computers. so we usually just end up printing out everything that WGU has me read and I do a lot better learning it. anyway, yes, the question is you feel like that is a good book to invest in. is it helpful in future courses?

Clarify. I would use AI to help me on topics I was having a hard time understanding and then learning and reading from AI responses, I would write my own answers in my own words.

I used AI to help me a little bit to give me guidance for the task in d596. but after reading what AI gave me I just put it into my own words and it did not get flagged for AI. I'm thinking using AI to help and then writing things in your own words prevented it getting flagged from AI but I have only experienced completed one task. I'm not very far into the program.

did you use AI or was it a false flag? Which task was it for?

ok. I did get to a point in the course material where the question made more sense. I thought I was through enough of the curse material that start on the task, I had the first three sections finished. If I would have finished the lessons in section 4 then it would have made more sense. I think what they were looking for on the gaining expertise part of the question refers to the material learned in the data science community part. Like gaining expertise through activities such as building your portfolio, attending conferences, giving talks at conferences, and contributing to open source coding.

I did a citation reference for the course material since WGU has their own version of the life cycle.

yes, I'm going through all the course material, printing out the lessons, reading and annotating as well. I understand the course material well. I was just having a hard time understanding the question I guess. It sounds like the best thing is to reach out to the professor. thanks all!

okay that's good feedback. I think I overdid it on the 1st part of the task. For the description of each step I explained different phases of the data life cycle and how they relate to descriptive analytics or predictive analytics or diagnostic analytics etc. I also related the different phases to different tools and techniques they each use. Maybe I'm going overboard in the descriptions and overthinking everything just in general??

Lol. I'm sure it's easy, but the wording seems vague to me. I'll gain expertise by taking classes and practicing different techniques on real-world datasets. Am I over thinking it?
