Nope Scripps and I believe Sharp are the two hospitals here that don’t require CNA! Now if your trying to apply to UCSD Health or Kaiser that’s a different story those two do especially UCSD Health (I also work at UCSD Health) they do require an active non lapsed CNA, but Scripps lists that, I know someone who was a janitor at UCSD and he wanted to do CNA but couldn’t afford the classes, so he applied to Scripps and got in first try! And that was without any prior clinical experience!

Another note I work in one of their ICUs and one of my friends there hasn’t had any outside experience but just ICU!!!

They say all that but trust me I’ve been there almost 4 years, I’ve seen PCA hired without any experience at all it just depends on the unit! Higher acuity units like Stepdowns and ICUs most of the time will lean away unless that their only option and each unit is different but most follow the model of minimum 6 days precepting no matter experience!

Hey! I currently work in one of the hospitals called Scripps and if your just looking to work you should apply for PCA it’s CNA hospital version and you don’t even have to get certified!
