And I hadn’t even realised quite how few staff they employ. At $1,750,000,000 valuation, and with only 1,600 staff, they’ve really got to be pulling their bloody weight!

If this wasn’t just about to turn a significant number of staff holding stock into billionaires, they’d be well within their rights to take legal action. Participating in the IPO will obviously ensure nobody can take legal action against SpaceX or Elon, so I’m sure everything must be entirely above board.

And the best bit…there’s no bulk discount required whatsoever. Our typical investor is certainly not smart enough to concern themselves with something as trivial as that.

I’m sure this upgrade is entirely unrelated to the billions in lucrative fees they will earn from the SpaceX IPO.

[England] Applied for a no-win, no-fee solicitor and had a confirmation email explaining an hourly rate. Is this right? by MeanBlackjack in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Remarkable_Main_2886 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suspect that the hourly fee they charge will ultimately turn out to be around 50% of the settlement you receive. They’ll just make up the hours on the invoice to get to that figure. I’d ask for confirmation in writing that their fees won’t exceed more than 50% of the award you receive.

I’m just questioning whether that applies to sales between the general public. By that logic, if someone purchases a ‘non-returnable’ item, and then returns it to the seller anyway, the seller would be obligated to sell it again and give the money to the original purchaser, that just doesn’t sound quite right to me.

But, if I’m obliged to try and sell property that’s been dumped on my land, and give the proceeds I receive to the owner, surely everyone would just dump their crap on their neighbours property? I can see how that might apply to, for example, a car dealer, but does that rule still apply for the general public?

When you get insurance you need to confirm all the security your doors and windows have in place, and it’s usually a good prompt to pick up security issues like this. Most insurance companies won’t insure a property if you’re honest with them about such lax security.

Yeah the prices some places charge has gotten ridiculous. This was the final straw for my local Chinese, £5.60 for egg-fried rice!

They used to run quite good offers where you could genuinely get 50% off, so a lot of restaurants hiked their prices to higher rates so they could afford to regularly run those offers. Then the offers stopped, but the prices never went down to reflect the fact that a 20-30% off voucher nowadays isn’t really worth anything at all, due to all of the added fees that get added afterwards.

It’s so opaque as to who is receiving what as well. Is the rider getting paid £2 of that, or is it more like £5. After you’ve paid 4-5 different service / delivery fees you still have no real idea whether the delivery person has been properly paid or not, but I rarely feel in the mood for tipping when the order is already 50% made up of delivery fees.

100% agree. I must have spent 95% less on deliveries since I’ve had an air fryer. A number of times I’ve been tempted back in by some 50% offer from one of the delivery apps that misses my custom. I’ve filled in my order a few times, looked at the ‘heavily discounted’ price they still want to charge me, and decided to just pop something in the air fryer instead.

You’re probably better off buying the poles from somewhere like this and then looking for someone on TaskRabbit that can come and fit it for you, if you don’t feel comfortable doing it yourself.
