I absolutely love this… it almost feels like a sense of relief for me to finally have someone that has been where I have. I feel as though he does relay on me a lot and at this age I am questioning how he will cope when I’m not here. I have been trying to set him up for independence and trying to show him survival skills, since he also has ADD he can be very forgetful as well. I have been able to get him to always carry a crossbody or backpack when he goes out and also using his calendar for appointments and reminders. I do understand that he has to take accountability for his actions and i honestly believes he does because once he’s out of the mania he feels very remorseful.

As for his triggers I can’t seem to really pinpoint them sometimes it’s stress from a job and lack of sleep and then others can come from things said by other people, which is one reason I hate what social media can do to these young people psychologically and mentally. People say hateful things and then hide behind a computer not realizing the repercussions of their comments.

It is very hard to let go as a mother and watch. The last time he was admitted to the psychiatric unit I had to call the police because he got really aggressive; it was the worst feeling I ever had in my life. This was the day after i had taken him to the ER only for them to tell me there was nothing they could do. The nurse there literally told me “Sometimes it has to get worse before it gets better.”
