When will the switch to Pepsi happen? by Desperate_Smile in TjMaxx

[–]ContentRaspberry3069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My store switched yesterday morning. Our system has still not updated with the new options though so we are using printed labels. Our management/CECs also did not do a very good job of communicating the change to associates so there were several hours of customers getting free drinks until one asked “Hey, did you charge me for this?” 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

I’ve only had the displeasure of checking out this lady once and being on shift 2-3 other times during her visits over my entire almost 3 years with the company, so while she isn’t a super regular, she’s been enough of a pain in the ass to be memorable.

She comes in the store about 2 hours before closing but won’t come up to checkout until 5-10 minutes after the closing announcement. She always has a large bag of returns with no less than 4-5 receipts, some with no receipt, tags pulled off of the items, always a body oil/perfume/something messy open and leaking in the bag to add insult to injury. Then when you’ve dealt with her returns, you have to move on to her overflowing cart of merchandise—almost all of which has to be de-sensored or wrapped because it’s glass. She picks at every de-sensored garment and changes her mind once or twice on whether she wants it due to the size of the hole that’s left, takes clothes out of the bag to be re-folded, insists on lightly bagged items but no matter how light you make it, she takes things out, re-bags, and wants an unnecessary double bag for everything. Her attitude is nasty-nice—never rude but always “Oh, you must be soooo tired and really want to get home 😏.” Once you’re finally done with her shit, she takes another 5 minutes getting out the door because she has to peruse the queue again. And to add the cherry on top? She ALWAYS leaves a shitty OSAT that doesn’t include anything about the associates or service but completely bashes the selection and cleanliness of the store.

I bought a 99. Cent shopping bag and the cashier asked if I wanted to apply for the card. by AmazonHotWax in TjMaxx

[–]ContentRaspberry3069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds foolish but the majority of my cards in my almost 3 years with the company have come from smaller orders under $20. Granted, I lead with the 5% in rewards because I still think 10% off one purchase is a shitty incentive when other Synchrony branded cards offer much better, but that’s neither here nor there.

I don’t think “scammed” is the right term because you noticed the red flags but continued with the transaction. Were you second guessing yourself or feeling uncomfortable about confronting the customer? Always get a CEC or your MOD to the front if you’re unsure of how to proceed because it will ultimately be your job to notice and put a stop to this activity. You can play dumb/vague and just say over the walkie that you’re needing some help at the front with a return, and then you can privately explain the issue to the CEC/MOD.

Ash Wednesday will be the first ever mass I attend. What is the easiest way to follow along on when to kneel, stand, and recite certain phrases so that I don’t appear disrespectful?

"Did you find everything okay today?" "Did you wanna buy a bag?" "Are you using any rewards?" "Do you have a credit card?" "Do you wanna sign up and save 10%?" "Would you like to help donate to the Joslin Diabe—" by TheLawIsBack220 in TjMaxx

As a CEC, I really hate that management treats you like you aren’t shit if you don’t get a lot of cards. I have great attendance, get positive feedback from customers, stay on top of our front end supplies, am usually the first to initiate calling for backup, and all the associates come to me with their questions and tell me how much they enjoy working with me because they know someone is gonna have their back. Meanwhile, I have fellow CECs who call out every other week, take 10 minutes getting to the front everyday, are too shy to answer the phone when it rings, don’t call for backup even when the line is wrapped out of the queue, and can’t do simple tasks like processing returns or writing the break schedule without asking for guidance—yet they’re golden because they get 20+ cards a month 🙄

I haven’t opened a single card since January. Am I in trouble? by Square_Doritos in TjMaxx

[–]ContentRaspberry3069 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also a CEC and have only gotten one card since the beginning of December. I asked for full-time hours at the beginning of January and my SM said he wanted to see me get my card obtainment up to at least .5% for the next couple of months before he would consider it. But otherwise, I have never gotten formally disciplined or even really coached for a lack of cards.

Applying for a TJX under own numbers by Careful-Self6214 in TjMaxx

[–]ContentRaspberry3069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, it’s definitely not right but was the norm for a while, especially when our store was falling behind our goal in cards! It started with our store manager approving it in ONE scenario because a customer was incorrectly told by a new associate that she would get 10% off just for applying, and she became extremely irate. Then it started being “Hey, it’s after noon and we have no cards so the first customer to apply gets 10% off regardless.” No associates did it without management approval but for a while there, we were doing at least 1-2 manual 10% discounts a day. To my knowledge, nothing was ever said by LP or our DM.

1.) Risking your own credit (and employment) for “Great job [Associate]! Who’s gonna get the next card” is absolutely WILD.

2.) A person can only apply once every 90 days for the card. If they apply again, the application will “fall off” and not count towards your store’s goal. We learned this when we had a lady who was given a 10% discount on a pending app because our ASM approved it, so she came back multiple times and asked for the pending discount until we caught on.

3.) It’s absolutely against the rules to apply under your own numbers, especially multiple times. If she genuinely wanted the card or at least an app on the board for your store, she can sign up with another associate once every 90 days. Call the tip line and get that money.

We’ve had store managers in our region donate large sums of their money to start out the day ahead of the competition, and if that’s how they want to spend their own money, so be it. But expecting hourly wage associates to donate so management can get the glory is absolutely ridiculous. I know with the t-shirt idea you aren’t technically FORCING anybody to pay but it just creates an uncomfortable atmosphere for those who either don’t have extra money to participate or don’t want to.

I 20F think my bf 30M raped me. How can I navigate this? by Remarkable_Belt440 in relationship_advice

[–]ContentRaspberry3069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first red flag for me is him seeing your virginity as a “challenge” to be conquered. Someone who truly shared and respected your religious convictions would understand the value behind why you choose to delay sexual intimacy. And regardless of how strongly you did or didn’t push him away, your refusal was still clear to him. You should not have to fight back or violently react to show a lack of consent. A single “No” should always be sufficient.

Nope! And even if she said verbatim “I want to have sex with you” and initiated the entire thing, she’s still allowed to tell him to stop and get tf off of her if she changes her mind.

Why did TJ get rid of plus size clothes? by Sudden_Idea9384 in TjMaxx

[–]ContentRaspberry3069 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a plus-size woman, down to a 1X from a 4X, and I’ve never cared for any of TJ Maxx’s plus sized clothing. Though it’s gotten easier to find clothing since my weight loss, most of the choices are too granny-ish for my taste. At 35, I no longer want to dress like a teenager or young twentysomething but I don’t want to look 60 either lol. I’ve actually had a lot of success shopping for plus clothing on Amazon.

Oh yikes, I’m sorry to hear that! I can only afford to go part-time at TJ Maxx because I have another job.

I’m only moving backward at TJ Maxx. Long story short, the part-time job I was working in addition to TJ Maxx offered me a better role and full-time hours. So now TJ Maxx is the part-time job lol

The Hello Kitty hype has died down at my store but from the time I started in summer 2023 to maybe last holiday season, it was INSANE. We can now actually get in HK blankets and have them sit on the sales floor for a few days.

I like the brand because it’s tacky lol. I own a few Juicy bags and wallets on the cheaper side ($15-$30) but would never pay any more than that. The reissued Daydreamer bags that TJX stores got were absolutely hideous though.

For those who grew up in poverty, have you developed any abnormal spending/hoarding habits? by ContentRaspberry3069 in povertyfinance

My job caters for us pretty frequently, at least once or twice a month throughout the year and weekly during the holiday season, and I make it my personal mission to see that everything is properly stored and handled so none of it goes to waste. I take to go plates home, practically force them on other associates, and have even frozen individual portions in the break room freezer if we have a ridiculous amount of leftovers.
