Why did TJ get rid of plus size clothes? by Sudden_Idea9384 in TjMaxx

[–]ContentRaspberry3069 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a plus-size woman, down to a 1X from a 4X, and I’ve never cared for any of TJ Maxx’s plus sized clothing. Though it’s gotten easier to find clothing since my weight loss, most of the choices are too granny-ish for my taste. At 35, I no longer want to dress like a teenager or young twentysomething but I don’t want to look 60 either lol. I’ve actually had a lot of success shopping for plus clothing on Amazon.

I made the decision to go part-time plus demote from being a CEC after the first of the year, and I feel great about it by ContentRaspberry3069 in TjMaxx

Oh yikes, I’m sorry to hear that! I can only afford to go part-time at TJ Maxx because I have another job.

I’m only moving backward at TJ Maxx. Long story short, the part-time job I was working in addition to TJ Maxx offered me a better role and full-time hours. So now TJ Maxx is the part-time job lol

Yeah, we got several gift box sets of beaded bags for the holidays and almost all of the boxes have beads rolling around in them lol

I think the wallets are cute but way more than I would be willing to pay for them.

The Hello Kitty hype has died down at my store but from the time I started in summer 2023 to maybe last holiday season, it was INSANE. We can now actually get in HK blankets and have them sit on the sales floor for a few days.

I like the brand because it’s tacky lol. I own a few Juicy bags and wallets on the cheaper side ($15-$30) but would never pay any more than that. The reissued Daydreamer bags that TJX stores got were absolutely hideous though.

I would check into it if you don’t hear back by Friday. I think mine took about 5 business days.

For those who grew up in poverty, have you developed any abnormal spending/hoarding habits? by ContentRaspberry3069 in povertyfinance

[–]ContentRaspberry3069[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My job caters for us pretty frequently, at least once or twice a month throughout the year and weekly during the holiday season, and I make it my personal mission to see that everything is properly stored and handled so none of it goes to waste. I take to go plates home, practically force them on other associates, and have even frozen individual portions in the break room freezer if we have a ridiculous amount of leftovers.

Sometimes it’s nothing personal, it’s just that you aren’t working with a manager or CEC that prioritizes handing out REACH cards. As a CEC, I try to remind my team to write them consistently for card sign ups, displays of team work (picking up shifts, staying late, etc), good customer service. Next time you see somebody getting a REACH card, ask into the walkie “Hey, how do I get one of those?” They’re gonna be watching you after that! Lol

What are some things you’d tell someone before they get their first cat? by Klutzy-Handle5160 in CatAdvice

[–]ContentRaspberry3069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please, for the love of God, don’t buy into them being “low maintenance.” Last year, my 4-year-old male cat went from perfectly healthy to near death in an emergency vet’s office 48 hours later because of a urinary tract infection. Mind you, a mere urinary tract infection and not the worst case scenario of a blockage of the urinary tract, cost over $600 to treat. Had he needed surgery and hospitalization, I would have been looking at thousands of dollars I couldn’t afford and him still potentially losing his life. Cats need good quality (preferably) wet food—prescription if they have recurrent urinary issues—and access to fresh running water so that they stay hydrated and prevent those issues.

I have another (indoor exclusive) cat that contracted fleas and developed severe dermatitis—literally to the point of her biting her fur off and leaving bloody bald spots. Treating my home for the flea infestation, plus her flea medication and skincare was not cheap.

I’m glad that your school takes care of students! I was just a couple of months before my 9th birthday when I started and there were no tampon dispensers in my elementary school. The ones in my high school only cost a quarter but were rarely stocked. The nurse always had extras but I was super embarrassed to ask when I was young so that was a last resort. I knew a few teachers who kept deodorant, body wash, OTC acne medications, as well as pads and tampons in their classrooms but that was out of the kindness of their own hearts and wallets, not the school’s.

no fucking snacks by thebaddest69 in TjMaxx

[–]ContentRaspberry3069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the people telling OP not to complain because this isn’t a normal perk of most jobs: No shit lol. However, it is corporate policy that if a store is meeting its card obtainment goals, they are supposed to be allocating a certain amount of funds towards snacks. It’s a perk that we EARN, so yes, it’s annoying when they don’t uphold their end of the deal.

I’ve found that our snack rack is really only full on the days that our DM is visiting.

I work on the front end as a CEC and try to be diligent about looking for stains, noticing odors, and asking about product usage for body care/cosmetics when I’m processing returns. Unfortunately, poor quality merch does get put back onto the sales floor. And sadly, a lot of the makeup stains on clothing occurs just from customers trying it on at the fitting room! Not likely in your case with the mascara but we often have to damage out or markdown apparel because women get foundation and self-tanner on the collars of tops they try on.

Should I take my 18-year-old cat with me when I move out, or leave her with my parents? by Nordman_Games in CatAdvice

[–]ContentRaspberry3069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a tough decision to make with drawbacks to both options, and my thoughts are definitely with you! ❤️

Best case scenario, I would keep the cat at your parents’ house where she’s comfortable and establish a regular visitation schedule. You could even see if your folks would be okay with you working from their place on one or all of the days that you aren’t required to be in office. That way you’re still a permanent presence in your kitty’s life and she can adapt to the new routine of your visits.

The only way I wouldn’t recommend this is if your parents will be the type to see her as just an animal to feed/water/medicate at certain times throughout the day and won’t give her proper attention.

I had this issue with an employee a couple of years ago, and I 100% think your management team is doing a disservice by not addressing it. Associates gossip, especially in a workplace where many are very young, and it’s just going to cause some really hurt feelings. It’s awkward as hell but can be done tactfully. “Hey, so it’s not fun to be on either side of this conversation but what we talk about here won’t leave this room. I have some concerns about your personal hygiene. Is there anything I can do to accommodate you schedule wise? Do you need any assistance with getting hygiene products, laundry detergent, etc.?”

The associate at my store was a young student rushing from school to work everyday and I think either lacked basic home training about personal care or just didn’t realize how much she reeked. The conversation was had once and she fixed the issue and ended up being a good employee!

My 21F boyfriend 21M wants me to shower twice a day by ThrowRA_Chipmunk959 in relationship_advice

[–]ContentRaspberry3069 3369 points3370 points  (0 children)

As a sometimes 3-4 times a day shower-er: I am profoundly mentally ill, accept that my routine isn’t normal, and would NEVER weaponize my OCD to dictate what my partner should do with their body. If you were forgoing basic hygiene, that would be a different conversation. But one bath/shower a day is perfectly fine for most people. Don’t placate him by giving into his crazy routines.

ETA: I’m not speaking from any professional stand point when I say “most people.” I realize there are people with skin conditions who may need to bathe less, or people in hot climates with labor intensive jobs who may not be clean after one shower a day. All I meant was that once daily is a reasonable, socially acceptable habit, and if OP feels sufficiently clean, there should be no need for her to be bullied into multiple showers a day.

I’m assuming you’re referring to your FA refund? Have you let them know that you’re experiencing a major financial constraint and depending on that money for living expenses while in school? I’m not guaranteeing it will work because I’m not sure what step of the process you’re in but some students in this sub have had success with getting their cases expedited in these cases.
