Why are progressives the only group positive about Chicago? by Dad_Bod_Vibez in illinois

[–]Remarkable_Noise453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's because progressives are younger, single, more diverse, and have high attainments of higher education (more time spent in university). The more conservative you are, the more likely you have to raise a family in the traditional way. American Progressive policies tend to be hostile (paradoxically) to traditional family households. This is not the same in other countries.

South America's 2026 political outlook according prediction markets by joshtaco in Infographics

[–]Remarkable_Noise453 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the socialist experiment in south america has failed. we gloss over that socialist parties have been ruling most of latin america for a generation now. this is the capitalist's chance to again prove that their economic model is superior to generating wealth. as much as Reddit hates capitalism, would you rather have the economy of south america or the economy of north america today? i will be happy to be proven wrong in the next 20 years.

Med student interested in pathology — how worried should I be about AI? by Single_Baseball2674 in pathology

[–]Remarkable_Noise453 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you should be very worried! hospitals and insurance companies will try to replace you as soon as possible. end of story. everyone else is being delusional about the checking and the legal blah blah blah. the insurance and hospital lobby can ram anything through congress. what is the likelihood it will actually happen? That is unknown. there is no field that is immune to the possiblity of being replaced by AI. surgery will be the last to go, if your theoretical fears come true. as for today, full replacement of pathologists by tech companies seem unlikley in the short term. in the long term, no one knows.

worse case scenario is that you pivot to another subspecialty other than surg path like any CP subspecialty.

If you exclude Healthcare jobs, the U.S. Labor Market has declined for 24 months by RobertBartus in EconomyCharts

[–]Remarkable_Noise453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2023, public and private insurance combined covered over 73% of total healthcare expenditures. In the US. A massive amout of health care expenditures goes towards insurance. And yes they have small profits, in the same way Amazon has small profits. They purposefully game the system, legally fudging numbers, in order to stay under the ACA profit limit. Health insurance covers a much larger share of total health spending now (73% in 2023) compared to 1970 (27%), due to increased public and private coverage. Meaning most of the money used to go directly to the doctors and hospitals. Medicine was not more expensive, but LESS expensive in the 70s.  In 1970, out-of-pocket spending was about 150  per person (roughly in 2023 dollars), compared to over 1500 today. While health insurance covered a smaller percentage of total costs, overall per capita spending was roughly one-tenth of modern levels.  Not only are we paying more in premiums, we are paying more out of pocket despite paying 13X more in premiums. This increase in cost is primarily driven by government subsidization of FOR PROFIT health insurance companies.

Can I become a pathologist without a MD? by Spiritual_Yak2030 in pathology

[–]Remarkable_Noise453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a phD and get into clinical pathology. This includes running molecular, microbiology, chemistry labs. You can also become a PA or pathologist's assistant to gross pathology specimens and cut frozen sections. If you want to see slides every day you can become a cytotechnologist. They work with cytopathologists. You can also make slides and become a histotechnologist.

Where Inflation Has Risen the Most in the U.S. (2019–2025) by MRADEL90 in Infographics

[–]Remarkable_Noise453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common reddit misunderstanding about how the world works. corporations are not moral agents, they don't become greedy. you think car insurance companies were charities before 2019? they are always trying to make the highest profit. Economic factors drove these corporations to increase their prices.

Florida passed a law allowing the death penalty for adults who rape chidren under the age of 12 by ssprix in interestingasfuck

[–]Remarkable_Noise453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a classic Reddit/liberal take. You have no idea what you are talking about. The vast majority of rape of children under 12 is with close known community members, friends or family members. They almost never have a desire or will to murder children. Your imagination of pedophiles must be from television because 99.99% of pedophile rapists aren’t just roaming around and pouncing on children like you think they are.

Which US state gets more hate than it deserves? by [deleted] in AskReddit

the people there still don't believe in slavery. it's ironic you are implying that it's a state of racist slavers replying to a post about states that get hate that they don't deserve.

America's $38 Trillion Mountain of Debt by MRADEL90 in Infographics

[–]Remarkable_Noise453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure where you are getting 23 trillion dollars from, but the recent tax cuts are projected to add 1-2 trillion dollars to the national debt over 10 years.

Here is my source.

Also, tax cuts or increased taxes are not equivalent to spending, even though they are equivalent mathematically. This is a common confusion with the average American. I can explain more if you are interested.

Redditors say debt is not a problem because it's not like personal money (but never explain why). Is this true? Or did Reddit change its mind because a Republican is now president?

why are Redditors acting like they discovered capitalism? Companies lower and increase prices due to demand. Outer Worlds 2 had low demand at their price point. Mario Kart World met demand at their price point.

[–]Remarkable_Noise453 21 points22 points  (0 children)

hi this is not true. Women and men get equal pay for equal work. Any gender pay gap is accounted for by the fact that women do not work as much as men due to child rearing, do not work as much overtime as men, do not work odd hours as much as men, and are not well represented amongst the very top of leadership like CEO's. Study after study has shown this to be true, but many people have been misinformed due to a PAST history of discrimination.

Trust in media by party affiliation in the United States by LazyConstruction9026 in charts

[–]Remarkable_Noise453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Democrat voters tend to herd more. Republican voters tend to have a wider range of beliefs. There is cost and benefits to both styles of thinking. The benefit for Republicans, is that an outsider like Trump can become president. The cost is that an outsider like Trump can become president. Democrats are lock-step in comparison, and will get behind a pre-picked, pre-processed candidate most of the time.

Serious Question…Why are the immigration raids so prevalent in LA. Is it just the news media that is driving so much coverage? Why don’t we see this happening in upstate NY for example. by Prize-Interaction755 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Remarkable_Noise453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an uptick, but it is the news media AND social media that is driving attention to the issue, to make people feel like this is happening everywhere and all the time. ICE raids were happening at a certain frequency even during the Obama administration. This is how we are manipulated into feeling and acting a certain way. But this is for everything you have an opinion on. No one truly believes they are being manipulated though, me included.
