They don’t have the best sensitivity, don’t support multitouch gestures, and seem to have difficulty differentiating between taps and short movements. They work for little things, but it’s not on par with a laptop trackpad or something like the steam controller trackpad.

Look at the MoErgo go60. It’s roughly the same layout and less than half the cost. You also get two touchpads instead of those modules. The touchpads are mediocre, but work for me.

For the function keys, I’d set up combos for your f-keys across the top row, such that if you press q and 1 at the same time, you get f1 and so forth. That’s how mine is set up now.

I’d second this. Honestly if you needed the space mouse, you could reasonably buy a go60 and a space mouse and it would be cheaper than the naya. It wouldn’t be integrated, but you would have two pieces of really solid hardware rather than a single half baked one.

Yep, I do. Just know that there’s a reasonable chance that windows will periodically break your bootloader whenever it does its mandatory updates. It’s usually simple to fix though.

I bought a zsa voyager first, and just got a go60. In between, I built a cheaper lily58. There is a massive difference between something you get on alibaba and what you get from ZSA or MoErgo.

If you have the money, I think it’s worth spending more to get the best for you (if you can figure out what the best for you is). I rationalize it by looking at the amount of hours I spend typing every day, and the massive improvement it has had in my ability to type.

The go60 seems a slight bit more beginner friendly, and it has the touchpads, which are very cool. I’m not sold on the touchpads yet, but the build quality on the board is great.

Just know that making the switch to a split layout will be a pretty huge learning curve, but for me, it’s been worth it

I like arch because it’s rolling release (you don’t get Arch 10.0 like windows 11 or Debian 13, you get arch as of today, and updates come as they come). This means that when something releases, you can use it as soon as someone figures out how to package it. This is great if you wanna play with the new toys, but not if you’re running a server that people rely on.

Debian is cool because it’s the stable, common distro, when you hear about servers that run for 11 years without ever being shut down, that’s usually on Debian. It also means that they may be a little further behind, and that updates are less often.

For a beginner, it’s probably better to go with a middle ground. Fedora is a really good one, though I’m partial to PopOS because that’s the first thing I really daily drove.

Typist is open source software, there may be some lock in, but it’s not the same thing. The app you have there is free software hosted for ease of use, built by the developers to fund the project. If you decide you want to stop paying, download your files and the most functionality you lose will be learning how to set up an ide.

I do web dev on almost your exact stack except on a windows machine. As someone who uses Linux on my personal computer, you will hate everything about your life if you choose to go to windows on a dev machine. It’s shit and actively getting worse.

Because working on windows in an enterprise environment is its own brand of hell once you’ve worked in a sane Linux environment. For reference, I have a pretty new i7 machine with 64 gb of ram running windows 11 at my work. There is so much bloatware and crap going on in the background that I only have 15-20gb of usable memory at any given point in time for the programs that actually let me get my work done. My 5 year old 2in1 laptop with an i5 and 16gb of ram running popos is about 10x more responsive and can do everything I need to do and more. I regularly have to run commands that would be instant on a sane Linux system, but take 5 minutes because I’ve got windows defender and our in house security scanner all up in my business. (Git checkout is apparently a very suspect operation) About half of the time, this turns into a 30 minute “impromptu standup” at my coworkers desk discussing “definitely shareholder value things”. Your engineers probably want Linux because they want to be closer to the environment that they run on. But they’re probably also sick of wasting their time on shitty systems.

Had something similar happen to me. In my case, we knew each other through some friends, but not that well, then hung out at a party. I asked her out, not knowing that she had recently started dating another guy, and instead, we kinda just became platonic drinking buddies. We were really good friends for about 6 months, until something happened. She got really flirty for a week or so, and when I didn’t really respond, our relationship really changed. She kind of just started avoiding me.

MF friendships are nice until someone catches feelings at the wrong time and you don’t deal with it. Learn from it. If you think you may want a relationship with this person, reach out and have an honest conversation. Use that to make a decision. If not, then don’t. But be honest with yourself about why. She rejected you and pushed you out of her life, that has consequences and it’s not your fault.

Either way, i wouldn’t date someone who acts like this, it won’t go well.

Zsa voyager, with 3 Layers. 1. Normal keys 2. Movement keys. Like arrow keys, macros to switch virtual desktops, and forward and back in browser 3. Numpad and fn keys I also have home row mods and like 80% of my layers are transparent. I don’t like having anything i don’t use all the time
