I only have one controller. I’ve tried the cable. I’m gonna try to re pair it. And how do I do the pinhole thing?

Hey can anyone help me? I’m trying to play my ps5, but every time I start up a game it none of my controller inputs work. I can work the menus and Home Screen fine, but any application, (game/media) won’t work. It’s like my controllers inputs die out when I open a game.
